ABC To End DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES After Season 8

August 7, 2011 by

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES is nearing its end.

ABC announced at their TCA executive session that the long-running nighttime soap will air its series finale at the conclusion of the 2011-2012 season.

What can fans expect from the final season of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES?

According to an ABC press release, “Carlos’s murder of Gaby’s evil stepfather and the cover up by Susan, Gaby, Bree and Lynette has far reaching effects. Feelings of guilt begin to overcome everyone in different ways. Susan starts to withdraw from her friends and family, and Gaby works to reach out to Carlos while his guilt weighs heavily upon him. As Lynette and Tom are grappling with their disintegrating marriage and impending separation, Lynette is having trouble making the right choices ever since she participated in the cover-up. And Bree must be especially careful around her new love, Detective Chuck Vance. Meanwhile a new sexy neighbor moves to town, Ben Faulkner, and he’s Renee’s first order of business.”

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES creator Marc Cherry made an appearance at the TCA executive session and weighed in on the show ending. “I think the only thing harder than creating a hit show is knowing when to end it,” he told reporters. “I wanted to go out in the classiest way possible.”

Are you disappointed that DH is ending its run?

I am sad because it is looking like the desperate housewives all end up in prison by the end of the series.
