SUBURGATORY: Jeremy Sisto Talks About His New Series

Comments Off on SUBURGATORY: Jeremy Sisto Talks About His New Series

ABC debuts their new comedy, SUBURGATORY, tonight at 8:30, and if you miss one of the season’s best new comedies you will regret it.

So what is the series about? According to ABC, “Tessa and George have been on their own ever since Tessa’s mom pulled a “Kramer vs. Kramer.” So far George has done a pretty good job of raising Tessa without a maternal figure in their lives, but suddenly he’s feeling a little out of his league, especially after he finds a pack of condoms in her room. So it’s goodbye New York City and hello suburbs. At first Tessa is horrified by the big-haired, fake-boobed mothers and their sugar-free, Red Bull-chugging kids. But little by little, she and her dad begin to find a way to survive on the clean streets of the ‘burbs. Sure, the neighbors might smother you with love while their kids stare daggers at your back, but underneath all that plastic and caffeine, they’re really not half bad. Being in the ‘burbs can be hell, but it also may just bring Tessa and George closer than they’ve ever been.”

There’s certainly a fish-out-of-water element — which is a familiar concept for pilots — but the show manages to have warmth, brains and actually be (gasp!) funny.

I talked with series star Jeremy Sisto (George) at the recent Paley Center Fall TV Preview party, and we discussed what drew him to the role, George’s parenting skills, his character’s love life and more…

Get ready for a whole lot more of Fox’s NEW GIRL.

The network has just announced that they have ordered an additional 11 episodes of the Zooey Deschanel comedy, bringing the series to a 24-episode first season.

“We love the charming Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast, we’re knocked out with the work that Liz Meriwether and the whole staff is doing and we are really psyched about the upcoming episodes in the pipeline,” said Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company in a statement. “It’s great that audiences have responded so positively so far and we’re confident that even more people will embrace the show – and more comedy on FOX – this season.”

Are you happy NEW GIRL will be sticking around?

Last week, I was almost ready to give up on RINGER. Many of you disagreed with me, but I thought the characters were frustrating, the pacing was slow, and the storylines were more than over-the-top.

Well, while the storylines haven’t changed that much, I found myself enjoying this week’s episode so much more. I was actually surprised when the episode finished…and was wanting more.

But I’ll have to do with going over the details of last night’s episode, so let’s get started, shall we?

GLEE: What I Loved (and Loathed) About “I Am Unicorn”

September 27, 2011 by

[Warning! The following contains spoilers for the latest episode of GLEE. If you haven’t watch, you might want to stop reading.]

Political scandals. Relationships on the rocks. Baby mama drama. Unicorns.

Just another week at McKinley High.

You could read 20 different recaps or reviews of tonight’s episode of GLEE and you probably won’t find two people that saw the show in exactly the same way. Ah, the beauty of subjectivity. By the very virtue of you being here, I’m going to assume you want to know what I thought of “I Am Unicorn”. Well my friends, I quite enjoyed it. Despite some worrisome moments (which I’m sure you all are dying to discuss – as am I), the episode on the whole really worked. The music. The pacing. The story development. I so enjoy GLEE when it’s not a jumbled mess.
