SUPERNATURAL: Sera Gamble and Robert Singer Tease Season 7

When SUPERNATURAL ended their sixth season, fan-favorite Castiel took a seemingly darker turn and promoted himself to God. (Angel or not, that’s still a pretty freakin’ huge promotion.) As you may have seen in the promos for the new year, Castiel has let the power go a bit to his head and during tonight’s premiere, he sets out to right some very specific wrongs committed by a few not-so-good people.

But given the variety of things Castiel objects to (and how sensitive the topics could be), how did the writers land on what should catch the new God’s ire?

A GIFTED MAN Series Preview

September 23, 2011 by

One of the best parts about this time of the television season is being pleasantly surprised by pilots. And one the shows that unexpectedly entertained me? The new CBS drama, A GIFTED MAN, which debuts tonight at 8 PM.

So what’s the show about?

According to CBS, “A GIFTED MAN is a drama starring Patrick Wilson as Michael Holt, a charismatic, ultra-motivated surgeon whose life changes forever when his deceased ex-wife begins teaching him the meaning of life from the ‘hereafter.’” And while it does fit in with their brand of supernaturally-themed shows that used to be on their Friday lineup, I found myself drawn to this in a way I never was to MEDIUM and THE GHOST WHISPERER.

Check out a few previews from the new series!

ALL MY CHILDREN: Susan Lucci on Erica Kane’s Television Legacy

September 23, 2011 by

With ALL MY CHILDREN ending its ABC run today, there is no doubt television is losing out on something really special. And of course, with Susan Lucci likely not moving to the online version of the soap, today’s show is potentially the last time viewers will get to see Erica Kane.

Lucci sat down with reporters last month to talk about the end of AMC’s run on ABC and she was asked what she thought Erica Kane’s legacy would be. Her answer is lovely, thoughtful and (if you’re an AMC fan), may make you tear up a little bit…

Well, I have been traveling around the country a lot lately and I’ve had — this is just so amazing to me –  women come up to me and say, it’s because of Erica Kane that I became a lawyer. It’s because of Erica Kane that I believed in myself enough to start my own business, to get my Master’s degree, to go back to school, to do whatever it was that they wanted to do. That thrills me. That in spite of all of her flaws and naughtiness, that what they get from her is her spirit and that she refused to live her life as a victim and that she picks herself up and goes forward. So, you know, that’s touched me a great deal.

Also, women from all over the country will come up to me and say, “I learned to speak English by watching Erica Kane.” I was taught as an actress that a really good sign of acting is that if you don’t understand exactly what they’re saying, the words, but you know what’s going on, and that they thought she was somebody that they would switch over all those dials and they decided to watch me and learn to speak English from me. I do ask them sometimes, “Did you become a big diva?” [Laughs] But those kinds of things are amazing to me. And s people say, vixen and willful and femme fatale and all of that and that’s, I have no problem with that type! I’m happy people are thinking that. That’s fun as an actress but what makes me really, really happy is that they also got the heart. They also got the heart and the humor from her and that she wasn’t nasty and bitchy for its own sake. That she was looking for love and they could get that. They understood that and I think that’s identifiable. I think that’s relatable. I don’t know if that’s the answer to a legacy question, I don’t know. I guess time will tell.

Erica Kane, you will be missed.

NIKITA fans, as someone who didn’t start watching the show from day one (trust me, I saw the error of my ways around midseason last year) but has since caught up at an alarmingly fast pace, it was a thrill to be able to watch this year’s season opener. I can tell you with certainty that it does not disappoint. There’s a reason I started watching the show, and it’s because of episodes like this one! So let’s talk “Game Change”…

It’s SNAP JUDGMENT time!

What is SNAP JUDGMENT, you ask?

Every day we’ll pick our favorite promotional picture from that night’s new television episodes and we’ll showcase it here. Then you guys can speculate what goes down in the scene/what you’d like to see happen/caption the pic however you want in the comments section.

So which show amused us today?

NIKITA!

Sure, this photo might be more low-key than normal (and certainly it’s much calmer than most NIKITA scenes), but that’s why it stood out.

J.J. Abrams Talks PERSON OF INTEREST

September 22, 2011 by

Seven years ago today, LOST debuted. (Time sure flies, doesn’t it?) So it’s really only fitting PERSON OF INTEREST, the new series from the J.J. Abrams production company, Bad Robot, also has their debut tonight. As an extra dose of awesome for LOST fans? The new series stars former LOST star Michael Emerson.

What is PERSON OF INTEREST?

According to CBS, “PERSON OF INTEREST stars Jim Caviezel, Emmy Award winner Michael Emerson and Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson in a crime thriller about a presumed dead former-CIA agent who teams up with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes by using their own brand of vigilante justice. Reese’s (Caviezel) special training in covert operations appeals to Finch (Emerson), a software genius who invented a program that uses pattern recognition to identify people about to be involved in violent crimes. Using state-of-the-art surveillance technology, the two work outside of the law using Reese’s adept skills and Finch’s unlimited wealth to unravel the mystery of the person of interest and stop the crime before it happens. Reese’s actions catch the attention of the NYPD, including homicide detective Carter (Henson), and Fusco (Kevin Chapman), a cop who Reese uses to his advantage. With infinite crimes to investigate, Reese and Finch find that the right person, with the right information, at the right time, can change everything.”

And if you think it sounds really science-fiction-y, executive producer J.J. Abrams told a group of reporters last month it is decidedly not the case.

Katie Holmes to Guest Star on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

September 22, 2011 by
Filed under How I Met Your Mother

Katie Holmes has scored a long-teased role on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER…but no, it’s not the mother. (We think.)

Instead, Vulture is reporting that Holmes will appear in an upcoming Halloween episode as the Slutty Pumpkin, a girl who first referenced by Ted all the way back in season 1, but has yet to be properly introduced to the audience.

With the recent return of Victoria and now the Slutty Pumpkin to the canvas, is there any other former Ted flames you hope they bring back?

THE BIG BANG THEORY is back!

While CBS has unfortunately spoiled a little too much about the resolution of the “Penny and Raj slept together!” story with a particularly spoilery clip from the first episode (which is not included here), there is plenty more to look forward to in the special one-hour block of episodes.

For instance? Sheldon and the guys playing paintball! Take a look at a clip from tonight’s brand new episode…
