BONES Recap: ‘The Hot Dog in the Competition’

November 10, 2011 by

Hey, BONES fans. So…this episode, “The Hot Dog in the Competition,” had a lot of disgusting, gag-worthy moments. Plus, there was a case.

Question: Why would the writers have a pregnant Brennan (and Emily Deschanel) run with all of her might and tackle a suspect to the ground to prove she can see things through Booth’s point of view? On top of that, when the suspect yelled at her, Booth also yelled at her (instead of standing up for her), leaving Brennan to feel foolish and apologize for her actions. And…all of this is necessary for Brennan to learn empathy?

In the interest of keeping this review scientifically clean – language wise — I’ll just say this: that is some serious equine fecal matter! Hey, Worst BONES Scene Ever…Hannah and her sunglasses called — they want their title back.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t just this scene that stunk the place up. The case, Finn’s addition to the lab (and the team’s reaction to him), and the B&B stuff (more on this later), added up to one of the worst episodes in series history.

Fear not, WEEDS fans: The Botwin family will be coming back to your TVs (somewhat) soon.

Showtime announced today that WEEDS has been renewed for an eighth season. The show will go back into production in 2012 for 13 new episodes.

Since its seventh season finale in September, the fate of America’s favorite pot-selling family has been unknown. But after today’s announcement, you can rest a little easier – until you learn which Botwin was on the receiving end of a gunman’s bullet in the finale cliffhanger.

Are you looking forward to more WEEDS?

Naya Rivera and Amber Riley Shine in GLEE’s 300th Musical Performance

November 10, 2011 by

I might not like the idea of McKinley High’s second glee club, but if The Troubletones continues to give us fantastic performances like this, I’m all for having Shelby and her girls stick around.

Next week’s episode will feature GLEE’s 300th musical performance. In a mash-up of Adele’s “Rumor Has It” and “Someone Like You”, Naya Rivera (Santana) and Amber Riley (Mercedes) prove yet again that together they are GLEE’s most powerful vocal twosome.

Check out this great GLEE musical moment.

(And snaps to all of you SYTYCD fans that noticed alums Comfort Fedoke and Jamie Goodwin strutting their stuff in the number.)

How amazing was that?

BONES’ TJ Thyne Previews Hodgins’ Relationship with the New Squintern: ‘He Doesn’t Want to Make it Easy on Anyone’

November 10, 2011 by

Tonight on BONES, Finn, the new squintern (played by Luke Kleintank) makes his debut, but unfortunately for him, not everyone is greeting him with open arms.

“I don’t know if Jack doesn’t get along with Finn, I just think Jack is that guy — and he’s done this with all of the interns — where he teases everyone who has come in, basically,” TJ Thyne (Hodgins) told me. “He doesn’t want to make it easy on anyone, and Hodgins is very protective of the team and the lab and he likes to get under these people’s skin.”

But how does Finn react to the ribbing?

AMERICAN HORROR STORY Recap: ‘Piggy Piggy’

November 10, 2011 by

After tying up the Halloween two-parter last week, AMERICAN HORROR STORY was back to business as usual last night. That meant no Hayden, no Chad, no Larry, no gimp suit. Instead, we got Eric Stonestreet guest starring as a man with a crippling fear of urban legends (fitting that MODERN FAMILY had the night off), Sarah Paulson as a medium employed by Constance, and Vivien causally eating brains. (So I guess “usual” is relative.)

While the Emmys may snub some of our favorite shows, at least we have the People’s Choice Awards to give them some love. And the fact that the fans are the ones who are responsible for the nominations? That’s the icing on the cake.

“[The nominations] mean a lot because it comes from the fans,” CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe told me about his show’s first People’s Choice Award nominations.

Jim Cantiello’s Hilarious New GLEE’-Cap – ‘Soft Focus Sexin’

The only thing better than last night’s episode of GLEE is Jim Cantiello’s MTV ‘GLEE’-cap. I’ve been (not so) patiently waiting for this video all day!

If you’re a fan of GLEE and don’t know about Jim’s legendary post-ep assessments, then do yourself a favor and go searching for them on MTV or YouTube. Each week he has me rolling…and he certainly didn’t disappoint this week.

StarKid Says Bye to YouTube with The SPACE Tour – Give Me My Remote.com Exclusive

November 9, 2011 by
Filed under #1 featured, Darren Criss, StarKid

In the 6+ years since starting Give Me My Remote.com, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing some of my very favorite television stars. One thing that never changes is how surreal it is to talk with someone, face-to-face, whom you’ve only ever seen on your TV.

So imagine how very odd it is to sit across from actors who you know only from YouTube.

Such was my experience recently when I had the immense pleasure of hanging with members of Team StarKid while they rehearsed for their recently launched SPACE Tour.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with StarKid, they are a theater group based in Chicago but born from the University of Michigan theater program. StarKid rose to cult fame when A Very Potter Musical -  a musical parody based on the ‘Harry Potter’ series – became an instant internet sensation. Originally posted on YouTube so it could be viewed by friends and family who couldn’t be in attendance for the original performance, A Very Potter Musical quickly and organically found its way into the hearts of the uber-passionate Potter fandom and from there a new fandom was born – the StarKid fandom.

HARRY’S LAW Preview: ‘American Girl’

November 9, 2011 by

Even if you’re not a regular viewer of HARRY’S LAW, tonight’s brand new episode, “American Girl” is so worth checking out.

To be clear, this isn’t an easy episode to watch — the lawyers deal with a custody case of a child stolen from her birth parents at the age of two. This poor girl has spent the past four years with a new family, but (obviously) her biological parents want her back. There is no good solution and the episode (and the final verdict) broke my heart a little.

Intrigued? Check out a clip from the episode…

THE X FACTOR: Steve Jones Talks About Keeping the Show Running on Schedule

If you’ve been watching THE X FACTOR, you know that host Steve Jones has managed to do what seemed unthinkable — keep the live shows moving at a brisk pace and manage to not run over its time slot. (Our DVRs thank him, too.)

However, since Jones has had to hurry along a few of the judges in order to keep the show going, is he worried they might “rebel” one day during a live episode?

I caught up with Jones backstage after last week’s elimination show and asked him that very thing…

About Last Night…GLEE, NEW GIRL and UNFORGETTABLE

While I was embarrassed about how little I watched on Sunday and Monday, Tuesday is even worse — I only had the chance to watch GLEE and parts of NEW GIRL and UNFORGETTABLE. (Though I promise some of you will be really happy about why I was barely able to watch TV.)

So while it may not have been much, let’s talk about what did go down on TV last night…
