What TV Props Do You Wish You Owned?

December 29, 2011 by

A couple weeks back, Profiles in History had a rather large selection of television and movie props up for auction, and unfortunately for me, they had items from two of my favorite shows. There was no way I could justify spending $3,000 on FBI ID badges from THE X-FILES and unless I won a huge lottery prize, the $42,000+ spent on the FRIENDS frame was insanely out of my budget. (Side note: $42,000 for a frame you put on a door? REALLY?!)

Seeing those items from shows I’ve loved in the past got me thinking about what other TV props I’d love to own from shows that are currently on. I mean, does any self-respecting television nerd not wish they had some sort of memento from their favorite show(s)?

So which items from current shows top my TV prop wish list? Take a look…

1. The “Writer” bulletproof vest from CASTLE.

Thankfully, I’ve never been in a situation where I need a bulletproof vest, but my goodness, it makes me laugh every time I see Castle wear it. (I adore it so much, I may or may not own this shirt.)

2. The FRINGE sensory deprivation tank.

Again, this is something I have no practical use for, but there is something pretty epic about it. And if I couldn’t take the tank, I’d gladly take the fake version of Gene the cow. Or the machine Peter got into from season 3. (My FRINGE wishes appear to be less than practical.)

3. The SUPERNATURAL Impala.

Confession: Thanks to the rain, I had difficulty opening the darn door when I saw the actual prop car up in Vancouver. But that doesn’t matter, because sitting inside that car was pretty awesome. All I needed was some old-school rock to complete the experience. If I got it, would I ever drive it? Probably not. But as much as I love SUPERNATURAL’s supporting characters, the Impala is the third most important character on the show…who wouldn’t love to own the Impala?

4. DEXTER’s blood slide box.

Admittedly, a morbid choice. But DEXTER has always been one of my favorite shows (my misgivings about 99.5% of this season aside), and what better sums up the show than that little box? Bonus points would be awarded if one of blood slides had a smile carved into the sample.

5. BONES’ Angelator

If this was functional, I’d likely be unable to work its complex functions. (I know my limits.) This device could not only recreate what people looked like based on their bones, but Angela also used it to whip up a virtual Christmas tree when the team was quarantined inside the lab in season one. The Angelator hasn’t been seen in years on BONES, but it would be a neat trinket to have.

(An honorable mention goes to COUGAR TOWN’s Penny Can, which would have made this list if I didn’t already own a replica.)

And obviously, those are just a few things I’d love to own. As soon as I publish this, I’ll likely think of a dozen more. (I’m still mourning that the FRIENDS couch — which was my personal highlight when I went on a WB lot tour — was sold.)

But this isn’t about me…if money and availability were no object, what television props from current shows would you like to own?

I may have a pic of you in that “Writer” T-shirt 😀

Oh and the prop I want is the Grave Diggers skull on the Lazy Susan from Bones.

I know a lot of people who really wanted (and possibly purchased) a lion speaker phone from “The Good Wife” this year! 😉

This will come as a shock to no one, but I really would love an authentic Warbler blazer and tie. Awesome GMMR readers bought me a Dalton t-shirt AND a Dalton hoodie (which i’m wearing as I type this) and Fox sent a Dalton cardigan in a press kit, but I’m still a tie and blazer short of a collection.

The talking lion speaker from The Good Wife and the gazebo on Hart of Dixie since it’s really the gazebo from Gilmore Girls. 🙂

From Warehouse 13, I would really love, well, a LOT of their things, but I love those old fashioned phone/walkie talkie things (Farnsworths?) and the Teslas, yes!

Does Booth’s cocky belt buckle count as a prop? Does he come with it? If so, I’m in 🙂

I love the apartment in New Girl, with the lockers and locker room feel; i want that.

I also loved a lot in P.J.’s apartment in My Boys–that womanly basebally feel is great.

I’m sure I will think of more later, but that’s it for now. Thanks for the post; this was fun!

I would love the framed hockey print behind Booth’s desk with Bobby Orr and the bobble head bobby on his desk.

I have been concerned about the amount of information we are seeing about the recent migration in Europe. While I realize that it may be important to recruit new workers into these countries to support the aging populations. But the what if terrorism rears it’s ugly head in any of these countries. What type of backlash could this cause?

Helpful information. Lucky me I found your website by accident, and I’m stunned why this coincidence didn’t happened in advance! I bookmarked it.
