THE FIRM Series Premiere Preview

If you’ve been missing Mitch McDeere, NBC’s new television series, THE FIRM — which is based off the John Grisham book — might be what you’re looking for.

According to NBC, “the series continues the story of attorney Mitch McDeere who, as a young associate, brought down the prestigious Memphis law firm of Bendini, Lambert & Locke, which operated as a front for the Chicago mob. After a difficult decade, McDeere and his family now emerge from isolation to reclaim their lives and their future — only to find that past dangers are still lurking and new threats are everywhere.” The show stars Josh Lucas, Callum Keith Rennie, Molly Parker, Juliette Lewis, and Tricia Helfer.

While there is a through-line to the latest troublesome plot Mitch has gotten himself in, thanks to time jumping — a device which is used quite often in the premiere — the episodes will also allow for more procedural-like cases. And if you haven’t read the book or seen the movie (where Mitch was played by Tom Cruise), the show does fill you in on the basics of what went down and what he and Abby, his wife, have been up to in the missing years.

THE FIRM’s series premiere airs Sunday, January 8 at 9 PM on NBC. The show then moves to its regular Thursday at 10 PM time slot on January 12.
