About Last Night…GOSSIP GIRL, CASTLE, SMASH and More

February 28, 2012 by

Sorry for the delay (apparently news won’t wait?!), but a lot went down on Monday’s TV shows…

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER had another solid episode, but I’m a little wary of Quinn/Karma. I hope to like her more in the future. And now that Ted has moved out of his apartment, are there any unaccounted for flashforwards in that place that should place him there?

I’m pleasantly surprised GOSSIP GIRL didn’t use the tape Dan sent in to easily and immediately break up his newfound relationship with Blair. I’m a little bored with Ivy, but the reveal that Lola is Serena’s half-sister is going to be trouble when that explodes. (Lily is going to lose her mind!)

My one minor complaint with how THE VOICE changed things up this year? They had too many contestants auditioning. I really enjoyed last year that several of the rejected contestants got the chance to try again because for whatever reason the judges didn’t turn around on the first go. There were several super talented singers this year who didn’t make a team that I would have loved to have seen on the show. Oh well.

It’s no secret I adore HART OF DIXIE and last night’s episode felt like the first hugely significant episode for the George and Zoe relationship. Until now, it felt like they had some fun flirty moments, but the real moments of substance were saved for Lemon/George and Zoe/Wade (and Lavon/Lemon, but that’s a whole other triangle). I know most of the people I’ve talked to about this show seemed to be Team Wade and Zoe (do they have a mash-up name?), but I’m curious if any of your minds were changed after the George/Zoe scenes.

Last night’s CASTLE wasn’t a “big” episode, but it may have been my favorite hour the show has done in 2012. The case was fun, they vaguely touched upon those secrets Beckett and Castle are keeping, we got some fun Martha scenes, and a couple cute relationshippy moments. (Though after last week’s reveal that Castle’s dad may have helped grant him access to the CIA, how did he not question his mom about that when she was busy telling her life story?!)

I’m pretty sure this isn’t what the show is going for, but I’m not sympathetic to SMASH‘s Karen. Yes, she is talented, there is no doubt about that, but if you sign on to be part of the ensemble and after repeated warnings you’re still are making it all about you and your performance…well, Karen was lucky the other people “adopted” her, because it wouldn’t have been surprising had her cast-mates reacted with anger. (And no, I don’t think Ivy is perfect. But if I felt bad for anyone last night, it was her having her former competition sprung on her and then trying to one-up her.)

I watched Hart of Dixie and I don’t know about anyone else but i’ve always been more team Zoe and George than team Wade and Zoe if for nothing else than I thought they had better chemistry from the start and thats who she likes already.

I also have no interest in Smash. I do however think after this week it will stick around the whole season because it did rebound, they have so much invested in it, and I don’t know what else they have they could put in its place.

Still Team Wade & Zoe (did you see the heartbreak on his face in the last scene?) and Team Levon & Lemon (though I acknowledge her heartbreak in that scene as well!)

I need to know where Ted is going! And I fear Quinn Is too much Kevin & Zoey for my liking.

Castle had such a great balance between a neat case of the week and awesome yet subtle shipper moments. Liked it a lot!!
