FRINGE: J.H. Wyman Teases the ‘Really Fun’ ‘Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There’

November 8, 2012 by

As FRINGE winds down, there are a lot of milestones both big and small to acknowledge. And it may be one of the more minor things to note, but this Friday’s episode marks a special occasion — it’s the longest title the show has ever done. (At least so far.)

“I think it is, actually,” J.H. Wyman laughed when I asked him about the episode (and the title’s length). “That’s a really fun one. Let’s just say Walter Bishop’s imagination is limitless, and this episode will just do nothing but mint that. And give you a better understanding, again, of what went on before the ambering and the mindframe Walter was in and what he was up against at that time.”

Of course, FRINGE fans are well aware of how far Walter’s imagination can stretch…amongst all the other crazy things he does weekly, his brain was also what gave us the gem of “Brown Betty.” (AKA the musical noir 19th episode, which kicked off the show’s grand tradition of doing things wacky in that slot.) But since Wyman had previously teased episode 9 would actually be their version of 19 this year, he did confirm that whatever happens in Friday’s episode would be the “normal” brand of bizarre the show tackles.

“It’s definitely — it has its moments,” Wyman teased. “Episode 6 has its moments, but it goes along with what the story is. I just think there’s some great reveals and some very exciting things that go on in that episode that will definitely change the course of the story. But episode 9 is more along the lines of what we did in the 19 spot. It’s off the beaten track, but it also has significant reveals. Really, every single episode going forward has very big reveals.”

Any good theories, FRINGE fans?

FRINGE airs Fridays at 9 PM on Fox.
