Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Wednesday, December 12, 2012

December 12, 2012 by

Lots of “fall,” “winter,” and “midseason” finales tonight. (Can all the networks just stick to one name? Please?)

Take a look at all your options for tonight…

Arrow | 8pm on The CW
“Year’s End”
Oliver (Stephen Amell) discovers that after he and his father went missing, Moira (Susanna Thompson) and Thea (Willa Holland) stopped celebrating Christmas. Determined to make up for lost time and restore a sense of normalcy to the Queen household, Oliver decides to throw the family a Christmas party. Meanwhile, Tommy (Colin Donnell) asks Laurel (Katie Cassidy) to spend Christmas with him but she points out that Christmas was also her sister Sara’s birthday and she needs to be with her father (Paul Blackthorne). Tommy suggests changing things up might be the best way for everyone to heal but Laurel isn’t sure her father is ready for that. Meanwhile, Diggle (David Ramsey) tells Oliver someone is murdering the people on his father’s list with arrows, which sends Oliver off to face his toughest adversary yet.

The Middle | 8pm on ABC
“Twenty Years”
As their 20th anniversary approaches, Frankie begins to think that Mike may be tiring of her company and is purposely trying to avoid her. Meanwhile, Sue frantically tries to coax Axl and Brick into helping her set up an anniversary party for their parents, and Brick falls into a non-responsive state when Axl tells him the ending of a book he’s been waiting years to read.

The X Factor | 8pm on Fox
“Top Finalists Perform”
The finalists perform live for their chance to win a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music. After the performances, it’s up to America to vote to keep their favorite acts safe in the competition.

Whitney | 8pm on NBC
“Hello Giggles”
When Alex (Chris D’Elia) takes an accidental dive off stage while speaking at his alma mater, Whitney’s (Whitney Cummings) reaction is less than heartwarming. Meanwhile, R.J. (Tone Bell) tries to school Mark (Dan O’Brien) on the art of chivalry using Lily (Zoe Lister-Jones) as an example. Roxanne (Rhea Seehorn), Mark’s intended target doesn’t initially take his bait.

The Neighbors | 8:30pm on ABC
“Juan of the Dead”
When Hidden Hills’ beloved gardener, Juan, unexpectedly dies, the aliens are forced to deal with something totally foreign to them. Debbie and Marty struggle to explain that death is something that comes to all humans, eventually, but Larry Bird is determined to find a way to solve that little problem, starting with the recently departed Juan.

So much more. Keep reading…Modern Family | 9pm on ABC
“Diamond in the Rough”
Manny and Luke’s little league team unexpectedly makes it into a playoff game, so Claire and Cameron scramble to find a location and decide to do a makeover on a rundown field. Inspired, Claire and Cam want to try their hand at flipping a house while they’re at it, and Phil and Mitchell fight over who will be the bad guy to tell them no. Meanwhile, Gloria tries a bonding technique by using a microphone to sing to the baby in utero, which definitely incites a reaction from Jay.

Criminal Minds | 9:00pm on CBS
“Perennials”
The BAU heads south to investigate a fast-moving UnSub whose signature matches that of a serial killer from 30 years ago. Also, the team learns that someone is tracking their cases and replicating crimes the BAU is solving.

American Horror Story: Asylum | 10pm on FX
“The Coat Hanger”
The Monsignor takes an unlikely convert under his wing. Lana secures a new piece of evidence that can exonerate Kit. Dr. Arden witnesses a miraculous return.

Chicago Fire | 10pm on NBC
“It Ain’t Easy”

Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) tries to help a suspected teenage firebug (guest star Cody Sullivan). Also, Severide (Taylor Kinney) receives an enticing invitation from Renee (guest star Sarah Shahi), a woman who (is it who or whom?) he saved from a car crash incident involving live electrical wires. Meanwhile, Cruz (Joe Minoso) tries to save his younger brother Leon (guest star Jeff Lima) from the gang he is involved with.
