Sundance Channel Orders THE WRITERS’ ROOM

January 5, 2013 by

I haven’t been shy about my excitement for the upcoming documentary, SHOWRUNNERS, and now Sundance Channel and Entertainment Weekly are taking it one step further — they’re teaming up to make a television series about the writers’ rooms that create our favorite shows.

“We know that much of today’s best entertainment is on television, but Sundance Channel and Entertainment Weekly want to know—who, what, when, where and why?!” said Sarah Barnett, Sundance Channel General Manager in a statement. “Social media has given us a lot of information about what our audience is craving— and we are listening. They want insider knowledge and a deeper perspective– this show will deliver that.”

While there are no participating shows listed, Sundance says THE WRITERS’ ROOM — which is set for six half-hour episodes — will “spotlight an array of scripted television shows– from today’s pioneering cable dramas to the most critically acclaimed and popular network sitcoms.”

What shows are you hoping to see showcased when the series debuts later this year?
