BONES: Michaela Conlin Teases ‘The Shot in the Dark’

BONES takes a dark turn in tonight’s episode, “The Shot in the Dark,” as Brennan gets gunned down at the Jeffersonian while she’s working. Understandably, as Brennan fights for her life — and while she’s recovering post-attack — the people who care about her flock to see her.
There was no doubt Booth and Max would be by her bedside, but for people who enjoy Brennan’s friendship with Angela, there’s also a moment of note for that duo, too.
“Angela does go and see her at the hospital, but that’s more of a Booth and Brennan episode,” Michaela Conlin (Angela) told me. “[‘The Shot in the Dark’] really focuses more on the two of them and what happens, the things that Brennan comes to see…[with] her mother. It’s more Booth and Brennan-centered…as it should be.”
And while Conlin was fine with tonight’s episode being more about Brennan’s connection with her partner (in every sense of the word), she is hopeful the two BFFs will get some quality screen time in the near future.
“I would like to see more stuff with them in season 9 and even the end of the season,” she said. “I watched the pilot maybe last year and I was really struck by [it] — the show has changed a lot, the characters, and I do really like their relationship. I think it’s unique.”

I wish the current writing staff, as well as HH & SN would rewatch the pilot too. I’d love to see scenes with Brennan & Angela written so that it least partially resembles what their friendship used to be like, as opposed to Angela rolling her eyes and gently scolding Klingon Brennan’s attempts to assimilate into human society.
