BONES: ‘The Woman in White’ You Ask, I Answer

October 8, 2013 by

BONES is gearing up for a big wedding in less than two weeks, and while there is oh so very much out there so far about the big day, after getting to watch the hour, I couldn’t resist answering a few of your questions.

As a reminder, I’m not going to spoil “The Woman in White.” I’m happy to tease, but there’s no way I’m going to ruin the experience for you…especially after it taking nine seasons for Booth and Brennan to get to this point.

So with that being said, here are some answers to your burning BONES questions (and a few of my own teases)…

How nervous and excited are B&B during the whole ep before the ceremony? #bones @wellsbones via Twitter

They’re feeling all the emotions! It’s complicated a bit by both parties thinking the other one wants something specific. And then one of them is responsible for a teeny tiny accident…which sets a whole other (non-tragic) chain in motion. But what’s ultimately important is that these two love each other and want to get married.

I was expecting a little bit more romance when Booth proposed to Brennan. Does Booth step it up when B&B finally exchange their vows? #BeenWaiting8PlusYears@geraghtyvl via Twitter

Look, it’s no secret I was a bit underwhelmed by the latest proposal. Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely, absolutely NOT the case with the vows. The vows are not only completely perfect for the characters, but they’re also an absolutely lovely tribute to long-time fans of the show.

I want info on the case. How do they work in all the squinterns? #Bones@romancemystery via Twitter

Guilt, bribery, and a little manipulation. It’s actually kind of awesome to see all of them working together like that since it happens so rarely. As for the case, the victim was a librarian killed 30+ years ago, and it’s a good thing all the squinterns came together, because many of their specialties will be needed to solve the case.

Is Russ’ absence explained at all? – @doctor_noodle via Twitter

Weirdly, no. Another one of Brennan’s family members is referenced, but Russ isn’t.

Given the number of spoilers already out there, are there any surprises left? – @CuriousBlueCat via Twitter

Yes. Thank goodness. There is a lot (a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot) out there already about the wedding, and that kind of sucks. But some of the most meaningful things aren’t out there — or they’re out there and you don’t actually know they’re going to happen in this episode. (And no, I’m not going to ruin them here.)

And a few of my own teases:

  • The episode was surprisingly funny. And no, I don’t mean silly or stupid, but the characters had a great sense of humor about everything that was going on and I found myself laughing out loud several times.
  • Never underestimate Angela.
  • Max shares a couple of really sweet moments with someone surprising.
  • I want to keep Aldo.
  • Seriously, someone buy the episode’s writer Karine Rosenthal something shiny. Anything. She absolutely nailed what needed to be done in this episode. I’m so glad she came back just for this.

BONES airs Mondays at 8 PM on Fox.

I’m really excited for this episode and your article only adds to it!!! Two things stood out for me: one, I’m glad to hear your comment about not underestimating Angela. I’m intrigued to see what she does after the way she and Booth started the season. And two, Aldo, you took the words right out of my mouth! From day 1, my friend and I both agreed we wanted to keep this man forever 🙂 Thanks for the article, 12 days and counting!

I think we all want to keep Aldo-he’s a great character.

I, too, hope Aldo becomes a permanent fixture. He’s great at interpreting Booth’s faith for Brennan, and she seems to take to heart what he says. As for Booth’s proposal, I saw it as his “fear” of the whole proposal thing from his past experiences–he seemed almost afraid that Bones would say “no,” so I wasn’t disappointed in it.
