The CW Boss Mark Pedowitz on Trying for Another SUPERNATURAL Spinoff in 2015

May 15, 2014 by

SUPERNATURAL attempted a spinoff this season with the backdoor pilot episode of “Bloodlines,” but when The CW announced its fall schedule, the new series didn’t make the cut.

However, when The CW president Mark Pedowitz spoke with reporters before the network’s upfront presentation, he shared they weren’t quite done with trying to spin off the network’s longest-running show.

“We believe there is a real brand in SUPERNATURAL,” Pedowitz said. “We had six really good pilots this year [four of which were picked up]. SUPERNATURAL didn’t quite get there, though we do know people will come to it, based on what we saw that night. I’ve already spoken to the creative [team] and the studio: they know we want to develop once more for next season a SUPERNATURAL spinoff. What it is and what it isn’t yet, that’ll be discussed come June and July.”

If you had you way, what SUPERNATURAL spinoff would you want to see?

How amazing would a Young Winchesters spinoff be? I want to see John Winchester with two young boys learning about all of this Supernatural stuff and hunting and training his boys. I want to see them meet Missouri and Pastor Jim and Bobby Singer. I want to see the boys learning how to shoot and fight and hunt. PLEASE!

I do like the idea of a young Winchesters spin off. But also what would be cool is a Bobby and Kevin ghosthunters type show! lol Because come on, Bobby and Kevin. Enough said.

Next Gen of hunters would be so cool with Krissy Chambers Aiden Josephine Barnes from freaks and geeks and may be add Ben and the kid from Something Wicked( Season 1) That’ll be cool!

I love the idea of Young Winchesters. Matt Cohen could be Daddy W.! Too bad Colin Ford has grown up — he was the best Young Sam I can imagine. Think about how John’s journal was created, all the various monsters he learned about, how he met others in the hunting community — Bobby, Pastor Jim, Caleb, Ellen …. There’s totally a built-in set of characters. And we’d have the boys and all the childhood or adolescent stuff to go with that.

Men of Letters – the beginning (Henry Winchester)
John Winchester – how he became the hunter we know and love
Bobby & Rufus – the early years of this pair of wild & crazy hunters
A Western Supernatural – The Samuel Colt Story – gunslingers and ghouls
Life and Times of Benny the vampire

Supernatural: Prince of Hell! Make it happen! I’d love to see the adventures of Gavin Crowley as he tries to adjust to life as the King of Hell’s son, in the 21st century! And he’s cute as all hell. Do it, you know you want to.

^what crisscross said. Colt is definitely a good candidate (how the gun was created. perhaps with help from men of letters? Elkins had a journal like John’s which was a men of letters journal. So Elkin’s family knew about MoL’s?, what did Colt mean by “the guns a curse”? etc),

Men of letters story. How they knew about angels? (since Henry didnt seem fascinated when Sam said only angels can time travel)

There is so much goodness to be mined in Supernatural. They could go for years on the backstories of many guest stars, the Men of Letters history, the Campbell family (cutting the heads of vamps on the Mayflower?!!). How about the adventures of Bobby and Rufus? We could find out what happened in Omaha! If they did in the style of American Horror Story, they could spend time in one area, close it out and move to another one. Young Sam and Dean, and I would LOVE to see Cas harrowing hell to save Dean!

I also love the idea of a young John Winchester with his two sons getting into hunting and realizing that all this stuff is real. I’d like to see him meet the people that taught him and that he hunted with. as well.
