TWIN PEAKS is coming to Showtime in 2016.

TWIN PEAKS creators David Lynch and Mark Frost broke the news by tweeting out this appropriately creepy teaser for the limited series. According to Variety, there will be nine new episodes, and the story will reflect the passage of time. There’s no word yet on which (if any) original actors will return.

UPDATE: Showtime has officially confirmed the news.

“What more can I say – TWIN PEAKS with David Lynch and Mark Frost on Showtime in 2016!” said David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks Inc., in a statement. “To quote Agent Cooper, ‘I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.’”

Lynch and Frost added: “The mysterious and special world of Twin Peaks is pulling us back. We’re very excited. May the forest be with you.”

Showtime also announced that it will re-air the original two seasons of the series before the 2016 limited series airs.
