BONES’ Jonathan Collier on the Show’s Next Serial Killer: ‘This One You Don’t See Coming’

BONES has taken on many serial killers during the show’s run, but since the show unraveled the FBI conspiracy earlier this season (following Sweets’ death), there hasn’t been one longer-running baddie the team has had to focus on trying to stop.

But that’s going to change soon.

When the show returns in 2015 there will be a lot of things in store, as executive producer Jonathan Collier teased in the video below, and one of the big things is a new serial killer fans won’t see coming.

Check out the video below for more from Collier!

Thanks for the effort, but it was impossible to understand what Mr. Collier was saying. Do you have a transcript or something?

I don’t see it being Booth or Bones could it be an intern.

Hate when Bones does serial killer arcs. They always leave things hanging and never answer all the questions surrounding them. Who was the Gravediggers accomplice because I will never believe she did all that physical stuff on her own & why did Pelant focus on Booth & Brennan & what was in the clock he put in their bedroom? I’m still not even sure what the Ghost Killer was all about. Why nobody ever stopped that guy before he got out of control.

The writers may have a good idea to start with, but they always fall down with the follow through-at least IMO.

Lisa I agree. The only serial killer they’ve actually done well was Howard Epps.

I like when the story begins and ends in a single episode. These stories that carry on for weeks do not appeal to me or my wife.. They usually end up taking the show down a story line that changes the original reason for the show success and to a story line that you can not come back from. This cause the view to loose interest and often causes the show to die a premature death… Please stick to what got you to being a #1 rated show… One story at a time… We love the show and the actors.. So Far..

I really think Bones should make a episode with Criminal Minds.

I love the serial episodes, they leave you on edge of your seat and anxious for the next episode. I really liked the pilant series, he was matching his brilliance with Brennan, all crimes/murders are usually not solved immediately. I just hope that Booth & Brennan will work together like they always have in the past, I like Aubrey, but lately the show is focused on him. Get back to B & B, they are the center, they are the ones that keep the show going and successful.

I fast forwarded through the vast majority of the Pelant episodes. DID. NOT. CARE. It was boring. Epps was good. Grave-digger was good, but unrealistic (hello… how did she bury Bones’ car in that place withing hours all alone? So not happening). Gormagon… eh… silly, but a cool way to exit the Zach character. Pelant and this stupid Hoover files IDIOCY? Sill SMH at that. Whoever came up with that should be fired. Stupid. Suspension of disbelief into the stratosphere and besides, just… not fun. Stop with the serials… you guys, as a show/production… kinda suck at it. Just sayin’.

I agree their serial stories are not their strength, and I must also say this again. IF BOOTH AND BRENNAN ARE NOT RUNNING CASE IT WILL NOT WORK. if they are only gong to be in three scenes every episode they are not running the case at the 200th episode celebration Stephen Nathan said David and Emily are their engine. Well the engine is failing because they are not on screen together anymore. We cannot see their chemistry because THEY ARE NOT ON SCREEN TOGETHER. Some of their stories sound interesting but if Aubrey is with Booth all the time my interest will be gone. We need to see them together as PARTNERS AND AS A COUPLE. The 200th episode not withstanding, we have not had a Booth and Brennan episode since the 3rd or 4th episode. So far not a good season FOX or Mr. Nathan

I have to agree with most of the comments posted. I really, really like Bones and watch the reruns in most cases. However, I do NOT like the serial killer episodes. I don’t have a PVR so if a family emergency or planned outing happens I miss that episode, it is like missing a book in a trilogy. The same as I don’t like To Be Continued episodes but put up with them. I have discontinued watching some of my favorite shows, NCIS both shows as examples. I don’t watch Soaps, not much into continuing TV shows where you must follow a plot line. I really appreciate the hard work that goes into trying to maintain interest but just keep coming up with individual issues is better. Hated that Sweets was killed off. You could have done episodes with Daisy/baby and Bones/Christine, (kidnapping, severe contracted illness, even Sweets Ghost coming back…) I have missed what happened with Cam’s boyfriend. These actors get like family and there are more things that could be done as a family type episode with interuptions for a dead body. Need more Booth and Bones, need more occasional softening of Bones. Need more action less Serial….. Please, Please, Please

I agree with everything kmw said – I second those statements!!! I am tired of everyone else running the show EXCEPT THE TWO MAIN CHARACTERS!!!! I have not been interested at all this season – my DVR has never been this empty!! I just want to add one thing to kmw’s statements – NEED LOTS OF B&B ROMANCE TO MAKE UP FOR THE DROUGHT!!! No one asked for porn, but let’s have some REAL kisses (WITH THE CAMERA ON THEM) – some hugs, hand-holding, kisses at the crime scenes, etc!!! Let’s SEE them actually ACT LIKE A NEWLYWED COUPLE (that ignored their feelings for each other for 6 LONG years) – not just talk about intimacy, and act like friends!! The small dribble of B&B romance that we have had this season (in their 2 scenes together) got cut off before it actually started!! Most of the time they have acted like they thought they would catch some disease if they touched each other! They both get paid more money than the majority of the population; listen to fan feedback PLEASE, and stop with the excuses! Give us some heart, good storylines, and get the show back on track with Booth and Brennan PLEASE!!!

I am not sure why my comment is not showing, so I’ll try again – kmw took the words right out of my mouth. The only thing I will add is the romance factor – again! Why the heck are they not letting us SEE some B&B intimacy?!? Why is it so hard for them to give us some hugs, hand holding, back rubs, little touches, AND SOME REAL KISSES (not the tiny pecks that friends give each other)?!! I am tired of simply HEARING about their intimate moments; I am not talking about X rated scenes, but they have barely touched each other all season! They are not acting like a newly married couple who has gone through hell to be together – I know that both Emily and David can do a better job! I also notice that the camera man has a hard time holding the camera on them when they actually do have a kissing scene!! These people get paid more money than the majority of the population; they need to listen to fan feedback and give us some heart!! This show has declined into mediocrity because of the severe lack of B&B interaction – ROMANCE INLUDED!! Please fix this issue!!!

Oh, now my first comment appears! Sorry to be repetative; thought it didn’t go through.

Come on people, how can you say that you are a true fan if you skip episodes just because you don’t like the fact it is about a Serial killer? Bones is the greatest show I know! I mean this season is only on episode 11(when it returns) and so much action has happened. Great episodes and cool ways that the dead body is discovered. This is not a romance show people it is a Crime Drama hence the fact they solve murders instead of making out. They have never really gone into the physical aspect of Booth and Brennan as they have with Angie and Hodgins but David and Emily have an undeniable chemistry that doesn’t need to be exposed to lots of touchy feel scenes. I admit when they do have those scenes they are “Hot” but I love it how in the end Booth and Brennan solve the crime and Booth puts the murderer where they belong. I agree they need to be shown more together instead of Albury all the time, but there is a story behind that too I am certain about. like David himself has said, Change is good, and it is needed to help the series progress, otherwise it dies a slow untimely death and that is not what all we #Boneheads want! The only disappointment I had with the 200th episode is that it would have been nice to see John in it, yeah Sweets died but so did Pelant and Andrew Leeds was in it. But maybe John could not be there who knows. All in all I love this show to the end. I will follow it anywhere, any day, anytime. Bones is going through a lot of changes this season that is for sure, I hope to God that Fox gives it a another season, there is so much left to be reviled, Like Angies real name, where is her mother?, Hodgins Brother as well as his fortune. Booths Past. 447 association etc.. Lisa of course the Grave Digger had an accomplice that is logical, maybe Hart has a plan as to how that will come out. Pelant actually concentrated on Hodgins as well remember the body in their house, his fortune? As for the majority of his wrath he loved Bones and wanted her to himself so he tried to destroy them as a couple. The Ghost killer was actually a woman 🙂 she was rich and powerful but that one was done in one episode. Also you all have to remember Christine is no longer a baby but is a 4 yr old girl so technically B&B have been married 2 plus years.. So I say keep up the good work but have more Booth and Brennan as partners as that is how it is supposed to be,
