Marisa’s Top 14 Episodes of 2014

December 24, 2014 by

For my top episodes of the year, I did something different this year: I didn’t let myself choose anything from my top shows of 2014. There are certainly shows there that could (and maybe should) have installments listed here, but considering how much television I watch, I wanted to expand the field of shows versus just going over (again) why I loved the top shows.

The following episodes aren’t ranked (they’re listed alphabetically), but I did note which one would have been number one if I had gone that route…

ARROW: 'Seeing Red'

Picture 3 of 15

Moira Queen was a complicated lady from the very first episode of ARROW, but her final hour, "Seeing Red," was her finest. Viewers got flashbacks into how much Moira had meddled with her children's lives -- surprise, he has a secret kid out there, that Moira got the baby mama to lie and say she had miscarried -- but the present day scenes reminded fans that she was almost always one step ahead: Moira revealed to Oliver that she knew he was the Arrow, and had known for a while.
Unfortunately for her, Slade was hell-bent on getting revenge against Oliver and gave Oliver a choice: would he save his mother or his sister? Oliver struggled with the choice, so Moira made it easy on him -- she volunteered herself, and Slade killed her. It was brutal, it was heartbreaking, and Susanna Thompson (Moira) was never better.

And have you seen Sarah and Kelly’s lists, too? Check out Sarah’s top shows and top episodes, as well as Kelly’s top shows and top episodes.
