ARROW goes on a mini-break after tonight’s new episode, so, naturally, the show is ending things on one heck of a cliffhanger.

“We always know what the schedule is going to be, so we knew this episode had a break [after] it,” ARROW executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told reporters earlier this week. “It is designed to be this crazy cliffhanger with all this amazing stuff in it. I think Willa [Holland (Thea)] has just risen to such amazing heights in these last few episodes, and that continues in this one. Seeing what [Thea]’s willing to do — and what Oliver is willing to do — for her soul. One of the things we talked about early on is this season is the fight for Thea’s soul. And more than anything, a victory for Oliver is [potentially] saving Thea. She’s caught between these disparate forces. And what happens to Merlyn after these episodes? It’s just the most screwed up family show we could think of.”

Aside from the Queen/Merlyn family dynamic, there is another big milestone in “Nanda Parbat”: the official reveal of the Atom suit.

“I’m excited for people to see the Atom suit in its full glory, and the first time Ray flies,” ARROW executive producer Marc Guggenheim teased. “It’s a big moment for us. This show is not FLASH; we don’t traffic in these visuals. So it was a big deal for us to get this kind of character on the show looking the way he does.”

And having seen the episode, I can vouch how fun/great the Ray/Atom official reveal is. And I have a few more teases…

  • There are a few really great — and wildly different — fight sequences in the episode.
  • Diggle and Oliver have two of the best scenes of their friendship/partnership in the episode.
  • The hour is really good about putting people who have had very little (or no) screen time together in scenes with each other. It sets up some possible fun new dynamics.
  • Thea doesn’t handle the news that she killed Sara in the best possible way.

And check back after the episode for intel on what comes next…

ARROW airs Wednesdays at 8 PM on The CW.
