“We work for it,” PERSON OF INTEREST’s Jim Caviezel (Reese) says, during a break on the production of tonight’s hour, “Reassortment.” (The second episode in tonight’s POI double-header. You can read more from the set visit here.)

Indeed, this hour — which was filmed back in October on location in a Brooklyn hospital — has a good number of moving pieces, as  Reese and Finch are locked down in a hospital as a virus spreads.

“This is one of those super contagious disease scenarios,” Michael Emerson (Finch) previews. “Samaritan has manufactured a superflu, which is more deadly and more contagious than anything previous. We’re trying to figure out why and what to do about it. And contain the outbreak, and find the remedy.”

Naturally, Reese and Finch aren’t alone in the hospital — there are a good number of people (and Bear) to worry about.

“On a personal level, I’m not going to leave them,” Caviezel says. “That goes back to the pilot of [Reese saying], ‘I don’t know how I’m going to die, but I know I’m going to die.’ The fact that I’m going to die someday, I’m going to stay and do my duty. When Finch comes in and says, ‘What are you doing; you don’t understand, this could be spreading?’ [Reese’s thought is], there also might be a cure.”

Unfortunately for Team Machine, finding an answer could be complicated: Reese and Finch know how to fight when action or technology are involved. But a contagion is an entirely different beast to fight.

“He understands the dangers, but they’re in that spot where it’s as easy to go forward as it is to go back,” Emerson acknowledges. “So you might as well tough it out. Plus, people’s lives are at stake, so why not do the right thing?”

PERSON OF INTEREST airs back-to-back episodes starting at 9 PM on CBS.
