It’s premiere week! TV is back! (Whether you’re ready/caught up or not.)

In case you’ve never read an ABOUT LAST NIGHT in the past, this is essentially a mini-reaction post to the previous night’s television. In the case of streaming shows, they won’t be included until the Monday following its release (if it’s a full season dump) and will be noted with spoiler alerts.

With that being said: here are some thoughts on THE BIG BANG THEORY, THE VOICE, MANIFEST, and more!

THE BIG BANG THEORY: While it makes sense that Amy and Sheldon would be on their honeymoon—and certainly given the transition for them, why the writers would want to tell that story—it was a bit of a bummer to have the final season kick off with the gang so separated. It helps that there’s another episode on Thursday, though.

THE VOICE: I get worried when very young contestants audition on competition shows—both because I worry how they’ll be able to handle the show itself and also how they’ll deal with the potential career that follows—but my goodness, Kennedy Holmes seems like the person to beat after the first night. She may be just a teen, but her voice is one of the best to ever grace the blind audition stages.

MAGNUM P.I.: It bums me out that I didn’t enjoy this pilot. I’m still baffled by how bored I was by the first episode. That being said: I hope it succeeds/gets more engaging.

MANIFEST: The first ten minutes set up a really, really interesting mystery, but with shows like this, I’m almost most curious about what this show looks like on a week-to-week basis. (Reporters were only sent the first episode.) The series will live or die on what it does next, so I’m curious to see if it takes off…and how much of an active role the non-Stone family characters will have.
