[This post contains spoilers for the November 11 episode of CHARMED.]

CHARMED’s Mel (Melonie Diaz) was able to save her girlfriend, Niko (Ellen Tamaki), from danger, but it came at quite a cost.

With Niko determined to track down Trip’s (Brendon Zub) leads about Marisol’s (Valerie Cruz) death, her investigation quickly turned dangerous. Though Mel was able to track her down and save her—with some help from Harry (Rupert Evans)—she realized she couldn’t protect her girlfriend long-term…and the only way she could potentially fix things would be to cast a spell where Mel and Niko never met.

Unfortunately for Mel, Niko’s memories wouldn’t be the only thing that would vanish. Only the sisters and Harry would remember that the relationship existed, while all photos and texts would disappear—and the timeline would be altered.

The first bit of fallout, outside of the relationship itself, was apparent when Mel tried to go to work: someone else was teaching her job, because she notoriously overslept and only made it to the initial interview due to Niko waking her up.

“Whenever you mess with time, there’s ramifications,” executive producer Jessica O’Toole teased to reporters after a screening of “Other Women.”

“What happened in this episode is going to reverberate throughout the whole season,” added executive producer Amy Rardin.

Going forward, Mel will continue to struggle to get over Niko. “It’s something you never get over, in a way,” Rardin said.

Added O’Toole:  “And then there’s the question of if you can really erase someone like that. Or does true love always find a way? We’re continuing to find stories there.”

And Niko’s MIA memories won’t be the only ones the show deals with going forward. During the episode, Harry addressed that he had absolutely no idea about what happened in his prior human life, which led to the sisters to quasi-adopt their mentor. But later in the season, his history will come to the forefront of the series.

“The more we learn about Harry, the better,” O’Toole previewed. “Getting into what his life was.”

“The fact that he doesn’t remember things is going to be a plot point going forward,” Rardin added.

CHARMED, Sundays, 9/8c, The CW
