Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

GOLDEN GLOBES: Putting aside the winners for a moment, the show felt like an absolute mess. It’s never a good thing when the audience at home can hear the cues that are only supposed to be heard by the people in the room itself. And it felt like (once again) the television categories were rushed through—in a baffling order—while once the show went over, the producers just shrugged and let everyone go as long as they wanted.

I love, love, love Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg, but a lot of the monologue was really rough. The best bit was Oh’s acknowledgement of how important the moment was. (She also had one of the best wins of the night, especially the absolutely precious interaction with her parents.)

That being said, the Globes are going to Globes. There’s always a few weird wins, and last night was no exception. (Here’s a full list of who/what won.)

THE SIMPSONS: I’m hit/miss on Grandpa-centered episodes, and this one felt pretty middle of the road. But I’m pretty impressed the family was able to tell what the faces looked like on those tiny G.I. Joes!

BOB’S BURGERS: I love that Linda didn’t get suckered into the oil sales pitch and was able to pinpoint exactly why everyone was being pulled into the world. Also: PUPPY!

FAMILY GUY: Up until the last scene, I was thinking about how odd it was the show was playing with Brian and Stewie thinking Chris could be gay (turning down one girl out of this many seasons didn’t seem enough to go down that road). Then I wondered how fast they crashed in the scene with Peter getting the call from Trump to potentially be his new White House Press Secretary. Then the show put “To Be Continued” on the bottom of the screen and I realized, nope, the show is actually going to do a Trump episode. Ohhhhhh boy. Next week’s episode is going to be something.
