New ABC boss Karey Burke, President, ABC Entertainment, is meeting with the press at the Television Critics Association to talk about the state of the network. (Which includes a recent batch of renewals.)

Follow along for live updates about what Burke has to say…

10:45 AM: Unexpected Jimmy Kimmel! He’s here to introduce Burke. He is channeling his inner Trump, by joking Burke will repeal and replace [Channing] Dungey-care.

10:48 AM: Burke jokes that Kimmel shared he’s doing this career because of PARTY OF FIVE. (The reboot was just picked up to series at Freeform.)

10:50 AM: Burke says she wants to champion creators and underrepresented factions at ABC. The network has been a dream job for her for years.

10:51 AM: ABC was formerly the #1 network for women. A big goal is for them to get that mantel back soon.

10:52 AM: First be best, then be first — the mantra Burke learned from Warren Littlefield, that she’s holding on to.

10:53 AM: The network is showing a sizzle reel of some of the network’s highlights throughout the years. It includes REVENGE, UGLY BETTY, SCANDAL, LOST, ONCE UPON A TIME, ALIAS, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, ELLEN, GREY’S ANATOMY, and more.

10:55 AM: “I’m so excited and proud of where we are,” Burke says. Jimmy Kimmel is going to film in Vegas this spring.

10:57 AM: MODERN FAMILY will end with its upcoming 11th season.

10:59 AM: DANCING WITH THE STARS will return this fall; it wasn’t Burke’s decision to not air a cycle of DWTS this spring.

11:00 AM: It initially concerned Burke that the Oscars drama would be problematic. But it’s kept the show in the pop culture conversation.

11:01 AM: There was a promise pre-Burke to keep the show to three hours. She thinks the lack of host will keep the show brisk.

11:03 AM: There will be extra material in the WHISKEY CAVALIER post-Oscars sneak peek, but it’ll also run in full in its traditional time slow.

11:04 AM: Burke was really excited about the potential reboot of BEWITCHED. She thought it was a very smart idea, but she decided with its developer, Kenya Barris, to push it a cycle to get the script to where they want it to be.

11:06 AM: Burke has been thinking about potentially reviving some scripts that didn’t get made during her time as a producer. THE AMERICANS EPs also had a show set up at Freeform that its development will move to ABC; it fits better there.

11:08 AM: Burke isn’t sure which categories won’t be a part of the televised Oscars. She hopes people will stay tuned into the entire production given how many blockbuster hits are nominated.

11:09 AM: “That is a reboot I’d be interested in seeing,” Burke says of LOST.

11:10 AM: They’re already looking ahead to ordering more GREY’S ANATOMY. There are early conversations, but no news beyond last year’s two-season renewal. (Burke is fairly certain the show was renewed, despite the only public comments from ABC being that Ellen Pompeo signed on for two more years.)

11:12 AM: Burke credits NBC for coming on strong with THIS IS US, while several of their returning shows didn’t come back as strong as expected, which is why they no longer have the lead with women. Burke is now looking at pilots that are more female-forward.

11:15 AM: Though they’re actively pursuing female viewers, Burke cites their broad programming as a way to reach everyone.

11:16 AM: “There will be [a mystery]” in season 2 of A MILLION LITTLE THINGS.

11:18 AM: “It’s a different kind of viewing opportunity and relevance,” Burke says of network TV and how things can explode. She cites the recent success of Fox’s THE MASKED SINGER.

11:20 AM: “I’m pleased with what THE ROOKIE is doing,” Burke says, citing its improved ratings for that time period. Nathan Fillion is a star “who should be on ABC.”

11:21 AM: ABC clarifies GREY’S has not yet officially been renewed for season 16. (They did order extra episodes for season 15.)
