Let’s talk about Thursday night’s TV!

GREY’S ANATOMY: Given how big of a deal ABC has made of this particular episode—it’s the hour that makes it the longest-running primetime medical drama, surpassing ER—it was kind of crazy the episode had…nothing to do with medicine. I was bummed by the weird “how did the apartment catch on fire?” subplot.

I’m also really disappointed in how the writers have been writing Maggie this season. I get she hates her old classmate, but it’s exhausting.

Once again shocked with a Betty twist, though: did not see Leo being returned to Amelia and Owen. Not sure if it will be enough to save their relationship, but I’m happy for Owen.

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE: Stephanie Beatriz did a fantastic job directing a really tough episode, both with the #MeToo main storyline and the much, much lighter subplot.

Melissa Fumero was great in her big scene, and Andy Samberg was a great scene partner: he didn’t step on her moment, but engaged enough that he also didn’t seem to be disconnected.

The trio of Holt, Terry, and Boyle was a fun combo; it feels like we don’t see them working together a lot, but they gelled well.

A MILLION LITTLE THINGS: Well, I definitely didn’t see that Jon twist coming.

I’m honestly surprised they’ve seemingly made it through the entire pregnancy without Delilah’s baby’s paternity being outed. My early guess was she would go into premature labor after one/both of her kids found out the truth. It could be really plausible for her kids to not realize the kid isn’t Jon’s. If Eddie does tell Katherine the truth, will more people find out? Or will it be the trio keeping the secret. (Which, in an accidental twist, would feel similar to another ABC show.)

WILL & GRACE: We’ve barely seen Grace’s boyfriend in recent weeks, so I was really surprised Matt Bomer’s McCoy is sticking around for a bit.

BETTER THINGS: General rule: if your plane has to be diverted for an emergency landing—and you have a hallucination of your father—you should get a free pass for anything you want. You shouldn’t get home to discover your mother has hit something with her car and strangers are in your living room.
