WHISKEY CAVALIER Cancellation

WHISKEY CAVALIER – “College Confidential” – The team goes undercover at a college to take down their new target – an engineering prodigy suspected of building a super weapon, on “Whiskey Cavalier,” airing WEDNESDAY, MAY 8 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Nick Ray)

WHISKEY CAVALIER had a splashy post-Oscars debut, but its end was a prolonged whimper, as the show was canceled, fans were given hope it could be revived, before it was ultimately canceled for good.

“Most of these decisions aren’t cut and dry,” ABC boss Karey Burke told reporters after her TCA executive session. “[It] was a show we had a lot of faith in, we put a lot of marketing behind it. We were disappointed by its performance. And, ultimately, it came down to whether or not we could do better with what we had in the newer pilots. At the end of the day, we decided to go with those.”

As for its brief state of limbo post-original cancellation, “I will always be proud of the fact that we don’t make these decisions lightly,” she said. “And we do take passion from our creators very seriously. So when they reapproached us to reconsider it, we took it seriously. I’m happy to say we’re a home that will do it.”

Whiskey Cavalier performed really well for a first season show, especially for such a short season! It was also gaining so much within the week for the +7 ratings. I think they would have had a hit on their hands if they’d actually given it a real chance! If they were disappointed, they’re expecting the impossible!
