THE MASKED SINGER Season 2: Here Are All the Clues (So Far)

It’s once again time for the most ridiculous/enjoyable guessing game on television: THE MASKED SINGER!

Per Fox, the 16 contestants have collectively received “69 Emmy Award nominations, 42 Grammy Award nominations, 22 Broadway shows, three New York Times Best Sellers and two have been named TIME magazine’s Most Influential People.”

Here’s what we know about the contestants so far (based on the sneak preview for season 2), with updates coming each episode…

Skeleton:

  • “To my Skeleton crew, just know I feel like I’ve died and gone to heaven just being here.”
  • 4261 written on a gravestone.
  • Been around the block a few times, but far from dead.
  • So many doors have opened for him. Key to success is to always say yes.
  • Tired of playing second fiddle.
  • Holiday party behind one of the doors.
  • “Party on.”

Fox:

  • Fox will eat almost anything.
  • Superhero.
  • Celebrity conjured up the steampunk look and glowing eye.
  • Telling story to its child.
  • Done his best work at night.
  • Has many costumes.
  • From Dougie to Doubtfire.
  • On air superhero persona.
  • “Refused to be caged in” and “I’m crafty.”

Ice Cream:

  • Video segment appears to be in a home in the Hollywood hills.
  • “Lives for half of February,” with Valentine’s Day noted with two hearts on a calendar.
  • Spent time doing what they love the most. Mom and Dad were skeptical.
  • Super rich.
  • Over a billion reasons to be proud of their hard work.
  • Emojis.
  • Karate.

Eagle:

  • Signature rock star outfit; sun medallion and red bandana were important.
  • Competitors will be saluting them.
  • “If you know an eagle’s body temperature, you may be hot on my tail.” (106 degrees Fahrenheit.)
  • A teacher.
  • He has soared to great heights as the face of his field.
  • Had a health scare and lost a parent.
  • Wants to prove he doesn’t just hang out with rock stars.
  • Can see things mile away that others don’t see.

Tree:

  • “Delicious” performances.
  • Costume inspired by 1950s pinup queens.
  • Number 30.
  • When the season is over, put in storage.
  • In exile; on a black and white TV.
  • Expert in delicious treats.
  • “Inspire you to think of me more than once a year.”

Flamingo:

  • “I love this mask as much as I love mascara.”
  • “ZooTube channel.”
  • Taking control of her destiny.”
  • She and her friends are an escape.

Butterfly:

  • “I just pray I won’t fall over.”
  • Has spent the past year in a cocoon, waiting for a metamorphis.

Penguin:

  • Get their hair done, with a number of wigs.
  • “Every time you think you’re getting warmer, I promise you’re getting colder.”
  • In her DNA for her to strive for her voice to be heard.
  • Always told she was not good enough.
  • Her career is on ice.
  • Signs, including not your secretary and give me the bird.
  • Everything is not as black and white as it seems.

Leopard:

  • Baroque-era costume, with elements chosen to hide the “natural silhouette” of the celebrity inside.
  • “I’ve been spotted with the President.”
  • Can survive under hard conditions.
  • “Out of hits and out of time” on a newspaper.
  • “All anyone wants to talk about the celebrity aspects.”
  • Leopards can “be fierce and so divine.”

Egg (Revealed on 9/25: Johnny Weir):

  • Belongs on the stage.
  • “Always work hard for the first and last vowels of the alphabet.”
  • A swan.
  • “You might figure that coming to THE MASKED SINGER is a bit of a leap for me.”
  • Fashion, skateboard, dream catchers in secret reel.
  • Going for the gold.
  • Always sparkles.

Rottweiler:

  • Total perfectionist.
  • Worked with the team to create the signature hip-hop look.
  • “Roses are blue, violets are red…”
  • Everyone knows you have to look your best.
  • “Friday night lights…”
  • Has a “fantasy champion” ring.
  • “It’s not over.”
  • Bit of a wait and see attitude.

Flower:

  • “Blossom in every field I plant myself in.”
  • Shown cooking.
  • Has dipped petals in cooking, clothing, to craft.
  • Has a doctorate.
  • Dresses up for the grocery store.
  • Sowing the seeds for her empire.
  • Ready to have fun and be free.
  • Singer, who is a legend.
  • Name drops “Vision of Love” and “What’s Love Got to Do with It.”

Thingamajig:

  • Costume is 7 feet tall.
  • “Puzzling persona.”
  • Unlike anything you’ve seen or heard before.
  • Celebrates with Chewbacca. 
  • Gentle giant.
  • Puzzling kind with a magic case.
  • More than fashion shoots; also has a sneaker.
  • Not a singer.
  • 4 on a cupcake.

Panda:

  • “Victory will taste sweet, like bamboo. Especially the way I prepare it.”
  • Father doesn’t have to roar.
  • World’s greatest family.
  • Competition will be “no match” for her.
  • Mom cooks.
  • “I’m lovable, but fierce.”

Black Widow:

  • Tarot card.
  • Hides in plain site.
  • Been packaged her entire life.
  • Fruit with a crown.
  • Director’s cut of her life.
  • This might be found on the deleted scenes.
  • “I like to hide until it’s time to feast.”

Ladybug:

  • Old-school camera.
  • “Spin your wheel.”
  • Had a lifetime of drama.
  • Spun on a ham.
  • Born into the limelight.
