THE FLASH, THE LITTLE MERMAID LIVE, and ARROW

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY PRESENTS THE LITTLE MERMAID LIVE! – To honor the 30th anniversary of one of the most beloved Disney films of all time, The Wonderful World of Disney and ABC are proud to present a spectacular, live musical event showcasing “The Little Mermaid.” This special tribute to the original animated classic and its timeless music takes viewers on a magical adventure under the sea as live musical performances by a star-studded cast are interwoven into the broadcast of the original feature film, live on ABC. Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

THE FLASH: While part of my head was thinking about how this episode was probably conceived to give Grant Gustin time off to film “Crisis,” most of me was able to enjoy the episode. It’s a bit of an odd situation watching the show, knowing the characters are pre-mourning Barry—but the series continues on post-“Crisis,” so even if things fundamentally change, he won’t truly be gone. However, since the characters don’t know it’ll end up okay, it feels authentic, but also a bit like reading a mystery when you’ve already been spoiled on the big reveal. But Cisco was great and BARI was horrifyingly hilarious.

THE LITTLE MERMAID LIVE: Some of it was cringe-worthy, but when it was good, it was great. (Hi Queen Latifah and Auli’i Cravalho.)

ARROW: This continues to be my favorite season of the series in years—perhaps of its entire run. While I’m very curious about the how/why the kids moved into the past—in theory, wouldn’t that just help Oliver and co.?—the emotional whammy of the reunions (and the reveal of why some of those reunions wouldn’t be happening) was a lot. (But, also, wouldn’t the future HAVE to change? If Rene knows he was corrupt in the future, he could, you know, not do that.

I don’t believe Laurel will actually betray Oliver, but WTF does The Monitor want her to do?
