A former ONE CHICAGO star is returning for the upcoming CHICAGO FIRE-CHICAGO P.D. crossover.

Brian Geraghty, who portrayed Roman from 2014-2016 on P.D. (with guest spots on FIRE and MED), will be a pivotal point for the two-hour event airing Wednesday, February 26 (airing from 9-11).

“He’s back in town and the storyline involves him and his sister,” CHICAGO P.D. boss Rick Eid teases. “And that’s pretty intense. We’re really excited he’s back. He’s the connective tissue so to speak between the FIRE and the P.D. episodes. And we just finished writing the script.”

As for why he crosses paths with the ONE CHICAGO team, Eid was coy. “His sister is crisis. It’s not just not going to her birthday party…It’s the kind of interaction you have with people that you once knew and haven’t seen for several years. It’s a lot less like shaking hands because of the reason he’s here—there’s a ticking clock to his mission here.”

When Roman left, he was romantically entangled with Burgess (Marina Squerciati), and the duo will have some time to sort out their past. “He does spend most of the episode with Burgess and Platt, the two people he was closest to,” Eid teases. “So, in particular, the Burgess-Roman relationship gets explored in depth and you can see there’s some issues between them and how they left and the fact that they’re not in contact. And so that all comes up.”

But will he be sticking around? “Right now, it’s this crossover,” Eid says. “I’ve never worked with him personally, but I know everybody involved really holds Brian in high esteem. I’ve always loved watching him; I think he’s great actor. So we never say never when it comes to talented actors who come and go on our show.”

CHICAGO P.D., Wednesdays, 10/9c, NBC
