Karey Burke, President, ABC Entertainment is back to talk to the press about the state of the network.

Follow along for the live-blog…

10:59 AM: ABC is planning a THIRTYSOMETHING sequel called THIRTYSOMETHING(ELSE). Right now, they’ve just ordered a pilot.

11:02 AM: ABC has landed Leslie Jones’ SUPERMARKET SWEEP.

11:03 AM: There will be no host for the Oscars.

11:05 AM: Burke says YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN LIVE will debut in time for Halloween.

11:07 AM: ABC has ordered THE BACHELOR LISTEN TO YOUR HEART, which is like THE BACHELOR meets A STAR IS BORN, Burke says.

11:08 AM: ABC has also ordered a new Jimmy Kimmel-produced and hosted version of WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE, which will get a limited primetime run.

11:10 AM: “Our thoughts are with his friends and family today,” Burke says of the late Silvio Horta, who created UGLY BETTY for the network.

11:11 AM: Though the THIRTYSOMETHING sequel is just a pilot order, they’ve committed to opening up a writers’ room.

11:12 AM: They’re doing more live IDOLs and THE BACHELOR than they’ve ever done, Burke says.

11:14 AM: Mel Brooks felt the musical was served towards the television experience. They’ll be broadening out the show.

11:16 AM: Burke jokes Baby Yoda should joke the Emmys.

11:17 AM: It felt like a “natural conclusion” to end FRESH OFF THE BOAT now, given Eddie was graduating high school. It had nothing to do with Constance Wu’s displeasure over the show returning.

11:18 AM: “The format is an evolution of THE BACHELOR franchises,” Burke says. Contestants will be “talented musicians, whose lives and work revolve around music.”

11:19 AM: “We love our partners at Marvel, and are sad to see SHIELD go…we’re looking forward to working with the new incarnation of Marvel,” Burke says.

11:22 AM: “I hope not,” Burke says on whether GREY’s will end next season. “GREY’S ANATOMY will live as long as Ellen is interested in playing Meredith Grey.”

11:23 AM: “We are seeing a level of contestant on the show that is unlike” what they’ve seen before, Burke says of IDOL.

11:24 AM: “It is more tied to GREY’S than it has been in the past,” Burke says of STATION 19’s new season. There will be four major events/emergencies that will tie the shows together throughout the season.

11:26 AM: “Shonda is still very much a part of our programming and our lives,” Burke says of Rhimes’ shows on the network. Despite Rhimes now working for Netflix, she’s still actively involved in her ABC shows.

11:29 AM: “We are working every day to be better,” Burke says of THE ROOKIE controversy. “It’s something [where] we are constantly scrutinizing ourselves and our studio partners to make sure we have the best working conditions in the business.”
