SMALLVILLE: Supergirl

What up Smallville fans! “Wow” is all I can say about Lois in the dominatrix get up, and I am sad that it forced me to put my cookies down! What about this week’s villain, who felt like he was straight from an episode of Supernatural taking over Gordon Godfrey! In addition, Supergirl returned to help Clark attempt to fly, and to fulfill a mission from Jor-El. Focusing mainly on Smallville’s three resident superheroes and Lois, let’s talk about this week’s highlights!

Kara’s return to earth was not exactly a heartfelt reunion at first, and did not play out the way I expected. I was looking for a little more action when it came to Clark and the whole flying thing. Instead Kara, played by Laura Vandervoort of ABC’s V, spent most of her time parading around Metropolis, landing smack dab in the middle of an anti superhero rally. It was odd to see her involved in photo shoots and showing her face proudly grabbing a billboard in mid air that almost wiped out a group of Blur haters. The upside, however, was what this chain of events did for Lois and Clark’s relationship.

SMALLVILLE: Shield

This week’s SMALLVILLE has me on a love/hate rollercoaster! While I wasn’t so thrilled with a few turn of events in “Shield”, there was no way I would ever turn it off because I was afraid I could miss something! It felt like the first day of school, exciting yet uncomfortably new. Now that the season premiere is over and we’re settling into the storyline for the season I couldn’t help but notice the changes among the cast, and how a few of the character’s roles that have changed…just a bit.

My issue, or should I say issues, with the second episode of the season? Chloe, Tess, Dead Shot, and tonight’s guest star Keri Lynn Pratt, who you may remember from the former WB show Jack and Bobby. Don’t get me wrong – it’s the final season and with Clark set to become Superman, change is inevitable, but with Chloe missing the show feels off. Instead of mulling over the web with Chloe, Clark is relying on the help of Tess, with hesitation I admit.

It was strange and eerie when Clark set up Cat Grant in the apartment above the Talon. But the show must go on and I’m sure with all the action about to hit Smallville, this episode just had to be one that spent time building the story up for the final season.

SMALLVILLE Season Premiere: ‘Lazarus’

Hey SMALLVILLE fans – what a season opener! I can’t say I was disappointed. The whole show just flowed together, touching on everything that left us hanging at the end of season 9 while raising a whole new set of questions.

I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about Clark and Lois. And Oliver and Chloe. Or the shocking discovery of Alexander and Tess. Boy do we have a lot to talk about!

Lois and Clark’s silent and mutual understanding of one another in this episode was great, similar to that of Superman and Lois in the original story. I loved the way Lois let Clark do what every hero has to do.

The letter at the end was a blow until of course until Jonathan Kent made an appearance! Yes, Lois is Clark’s other half and the most important person in his life now, but seeing Jonathan Kent and Clark back on the farm like the good old days was like Christmas for me. Tell me you weren’t dying for more?! That was the best!

SMALLVILLE Season 10 Kicks Off Tonight

SMALLVILLE is back tonight, you guys, and super fan — and GMMR contributor — Sarah L. has been kind enough to whet our Clark Kent appetites with a tease of what’s on tap. Please enjoy…

Are you ready for SMALLVILLE season 10?! I know I am. While we all have been patiently awaiting its return, we got tons of news this summer — especially regarding guest appearances galore and the premise for this final year — which makes me even more excited!

Says The CW, “Season ten promises the classic reuniting of the timeless romance between Clark and Lois, and brings Clark face-to-face with his destiny as he overcomes his final trials and forges the iconic identity that will be known for all time.”

Superman!!

Before we break into the rest of what’s to come, I can’t help but rewind back to the sad news we all received at the end of season 9: Chloe (Allison Mack) leaving Smallville as a regular resident!! Talk about unexpected, not to mention seriously disappointing. Recently debuting in the comic books for the first time is a bit of a consolation, but I’m still sad that Mack will only be a guest star, popping in now and then this year.

Thanks for Sarah for doing such a fantastic job covering SMALLVILLE this season. Much appreciated!

Hey Smallville fans! What an ending! I wasn’t thrilled about how things with Clark went down but at least Zod is out of the way which gives us a clean slate for next season. Can you believe with all the near death experiences and blows to the head that Lois has finally figured out who Clark is?! Alright I’m skipping ahead! Back to the beginning…

SUPERNATURAL: Two Minutes To Midnight

Sorry the SUPERNATURAL recaps have been MIA for the past few weeks, but I’m back to cover what is sure to be the most epic SPN finale yet in these last two episodes of season five. There’s too much to cover to bother going over the past few weeks, so let’s just assume we’re all up to speed on what led up to last night’s events. I have to say that it suddenly hit me that we’re finally going to see the big payoff of what the last two years (and really, the last five) have led us to, and I’m both extremely psyched, and also a little melancholy. I imagine it’s how you LOST fans must be feeling right now, but I’m two seasons behind on that show so I’m not swept up in Lostmania yet. Except I have the comfort of knowing there will be another season of SPN, so at least there’s that to keep me from delving straight into depression. Of course, there’s likely going to be a gigantic cliffhanger to torture us all summer long.

SMALLVILLE: Sacrifice

What’s up GMMR! I knew when I checked out the episode guide and read the speculation for this Smallville episode it was going to be good! Sacrifice has some thinking only one thing – someone is going to die! I was also hoping that Mama Kent was going to show up! I was wrong, I guess I’ll have to wait until next week.

Chloe and Tess locked up together in Watchtower? And the whole Clark and Zod back and fourth storyline with Oliver stepping in. Could it get any better! This episode was actually written by Justin Hartley, aka The Green Arrow, who finally returns tonight, and Walter Wong. So without any more oohs.. and aahs.. from me lets dig in to Smallville’s Sacrifice. One last thing, did you see Chloe enter Watchtower? The geek in me was gushing over all the electronics and security she has in place! She really has turned in to a superhero.

SMALLVILLE: Charade

Hey Smallvillers! I really liked this latest episode, Charade! And did you catch a glimpse of Lois in that bunny costume? Usually I hate flashbacks and the whole 24 hours prior thing but this really had my interest peaked when the ep opens with Lois punching Clark as she springs out of a cake half naked!

This week’s storyline was full of a little of everything. Lois and Clark attempt too make some huge relationship milestones, the daily planet has new blood, Clark finds out Lois is talking to someone she thinks is the blur and Tess and Chloe are still going at it! Lets just say there’s a lot going on and only a couple of episodes left to the season!

What is going on? Chloe has a kryptonite arsenal and has teamed up with Tess? Clark and Watchtower at each others throats! Zod is the closest thing Clark has to a brother? Some long overdue issues have finally bubbled up to the service with Clark at its core. Clark has some huge decisions to make between Chloe, Oliver and his Kryptonian family on Earth.

And once again while all this is playing out were reminded that although Clark walks in an dispensable shell on the inside all he’s looking for is the answers to where he fits in and who he family really is. Maybe a little side plot to prime us for the return of mama Kent?!

What really appeared to be most evident this entire episode was just how dark side our favorite Smallville residents where. Even Clark dipped a little low in this ep thanks to the good old Red Kryptonite! Although it was short lived CK normally seems torn between how just how far he’ll go to ensure justice. I’m sure it didn’t help after finding out that Chloe stabbed him in the back.

SMALLVILLE: Checkmate

How’s it going Smallvillers? Back with another weekly recap as the season finale vastly approaches! Did you hear Michael Shanks will be returning as Hawkman for the finale, airing on May 14th, as well as Alaina Huffman who plays the Black Canary, Stargirl and Cyborg! Brian Austin Green will also be reprising his role in a guest stint as Metallo soon enough. Something big is in the works huh?! Now on to Smallville’s Checkmate!

This week’s villain came in the form of Amanda Waller, who we have recently seen a few weeks back played by Pam Grier. Waller is a government agent out to recruit superheroes for her army and Tess is one of them. She’s also a threat to the Justice League!

What I thought was a plot to capture Oliver was really a scheme to nab Chloe, aka Watchtower. Waller apparently needs Chloe’s brainpower for her collection of soldiers and hires on Tess who really has no idea about the real plans or who Watchtower really is. Tess ends up finding out in the end that Oliver is Green Arrow. This isn’t good. First Clark now Olly!

SMALLVILLE: Escape

Hey Smallville peeps! Long time no talk. At least we scored another season of Smallville and got some great news with guest appearances while the show was on hiatus. Can you believe were looking at Season 10! Hopefully they stay up in the ratings what with Tom Welling working on his new series Hellcats. And does anyone know for sure if Chloe is coming back for the possible last season?! Now let’s get to Smallville’s Escape.

This latest episode was all about coupledom, cold feet and the Silver Banshee. Away for a romantic weekend, Clark and Lois hit the McDougal Inn for some serious relationship time only to run into the Oliver and Chloe. Surprising? I thought so. Lets just say I didn’t expect the writers to carry the Oliver/Chloe relationship this far along. But after this episode it looks like things are changing.

I am glad to see Chloe move forward since the whole Jimmy thing but I have a feeling some serious issues are going to arise between the new couple (that according to Chloe) is not a couple at all. Oliver’s former relationship with Lois has to come up at some point again. Even if Lois does say she approves of Smallville’s newest couple after ranting and raving to Clark.

SMALLVILLE: Conspiracy

My bad. So sorry I’m just getting this week’s SMALLVILLE recap up. Sarah was kind enough to get it to me this weekend and I think I might have accidentally erased it.

Hey Smallville fans! How did you like the last episode before we go on yet another break? I have to say I wasn’t exactly in love with it. Better days ahead though! Mrs. Kent and Perry White will be appearing when the show returns and possibly word on Lex and his whereabouts will be coming down the pike as well. The only thing that had me holding on Conspiracy was the changes between Zod and Clark this episode and Chloe and Oliver’s relationship was also interesting. Looks like the season’s turmoil is changing from what it once was.

This week’s chaos came by way of Dr.Bernard Chisholm and his mission to expose aliens living on Earth. Chisholm had the Kandorians and Clark in a panic after he began abducting the powerless beings from CK’s home planet. Clark, who has been busy trying to help his people find their place on Earth without powers, ends up trying to track down the mad man behind this. His previous struggle over resurrecting the towers to bring the red sun into place is now at a stand still since they were conveniently burned to the ground without an explanation! Also involved in this week’s conflict was Lois. Chisholm promises her a great front page headline, just what she needs right now.

SMALLVILLE: Persuasion

Hey Smallville fans! Did you see Lois morph into June Cleaver? Or what about Clark’s new bodyguard Chloe out to protect him against everything and everyone, including Lois. And while this domestic nightmare plays out Clark is up against Zod with only 2 day to go before a possible apocalypse blows through town.

Now back to Lois, who seems to be scaring Clark more than a bunch of super powered Kandorians! Lois has decided to quite her job and makes pot roast! All she wants is for Clark to make an honest woman out of her. So she moves in and awaits there pending engagement. Something that Chloe is dead set against. Chloe, under the command of Clark, is angry and bitter, and tells Lois to leave Clark. After having a break down with Clark, Lois calms down with the promise that they’ll be together forever and turns into Bridezilla! After she calls her whole family and Mrs. Kent, Lois spends most her time dancing around in her soon to be Mother in-law’s wedding gown!

Zod and Tess are still going at it. Tess is routing for Clark and his attempts save Kandorians a new life with new identities. Tess is only on board to see that the Kandorians help earth live on, and what she doesn’t realize is that she’ll kill CK’s powers when everything goes into full effect. Zod’s storyline really threw me off here. There were so many twists and turns I’m still not sure he fell under the influence of Clark’s persuasion giving us the whole truth. I also find it a little hard to take Callum Blue serious in this role after watching him on “Dead Like Me.”.

SMALLVILLE: Absolute Justice

February 7, 2010 by

What’s up Smallville fans?! Was the Smallville two hour movie everything you expected? Written by Geoff Johns, Absolute Justice really brought an interesting storyline meshing the old JSA with, hopefully, a new one. Talk about superheroes a plenty! Hawkeye, Dr. Fate, The Sandman, Star Girl, The Star Spangle kid and John Jones all made appearances.

I don’t know about you but some of my favorite parts of Absolute Justice was when Clark finds out a little about his fate, his relationship with Lois and the missing Lex. Although the show’s writers didn’t divulge much about Lex, Dr. Fate seemed to do a good job at avoiding the big question. Of course we know that the ultimate villain has to be out there anyways! They also managed to keep Lois and Clark in the same place so to speak. Episode after episode they continued to stall out their relationship, but now there seems to be no going back since Dr. Fate explains to Lois that her savior needs her and she needs him.

Chloe’s long running cold spell seems to be coming to a close. Star Girl was right on by pointing out that Chloe’s watch tower is a little uninviting. And she’s not the only one that thinks Chloe needs a little reality check. John Jones manages to get through to her, explaining that she’s the only family he has and that like Fate she is only going to go crazy if she doesn’t start living again outside of her cyber world. It was great to see her among all the superheroes as well holding her own as a human that they trust. I think the old Chloe is back and could end up tucking away all that resentment she has for Clark

SMALLVILLE: Disciple

Hey Smallville fans! Huge happenings on Smallville this week. Although it just returned (did that take forever or what?) there was plenty of news while Clark Kent was on break! Not only is Mama Kent coming back to town but Annette O’Toole’s real life husband, aka Perry White, has been confirmed as a guest star later this season! We also have the two hour Smallville movie airing next week that was written by Comic Book extraordinaire Geoff Johns!

What else is coming down the pike? The possibility that Smallville could be returning for a tenth season! And while this doesn’t exactly jive with our current Smallville characters, did anyone see Pete Ross on Blue Mountain State? After the drug bust I didn’t think he would be back on the small screen? Anyways…back to last night’s ep!

The rundown…

This newest hour of Smallville centered on Oliver’s dark past coming back to haunt him. Boy, was the Dark Archer a massive package of muscle or what. Also back in the thick of things were of course the couple of the hour, Lois and Clark. I say “couple of the hour” because I have a strong feeling the writers will be pulling the plug on CK and Lois’ current love fest after last night’s developments. On to that later. Chloe was back to her usual; Zod and Mia were also around. There was however no Tess. I’m sure she’ll be back next week.

Anyone who watches Smallville knows that part of the weekly ritual of the show is watching the characters dodge death. This week was different. The Dark Archer wanted to be killed, and by Oliver at that. Now we know where Olly went after his long Island vacation. He doesn’t however want to be part of the secret society which entails killing off your mentor. Mia managed to get involved in the major maze dilemma as well.
