Farewell PUSHING DAISIES…For Now

December 12, 2007 by

Pushing Daisies, Lee Pace

A dark cloud hangs over this otherwise sunny day. Tonight I have to bid a temporary farewell to my favorite new show of 2007, PUSHING DAISIES. The show that has been lauded by fans and even the most skeptical and cynical critics for its ingenuity and heart airs its last original episode tonight.

Creator Bryan Fuller has hinted that he wrote this episode with the WGA strike in mind so we can expect some resolution mixed in with some cliffhangers. Will some of the Pushing Daisies spoilers that surfaced this week come to light in tonight’s episode?

Will Chuck forgive Ned for accidentally killing her father? What has become of the Darling Mermaid Darlings now that morning has broken and they’ve listened to that little birdhouse in their soul and left the confines of their home? Will Olive take advantage of Ned and Chuck’s rift to get closer to Ned or will her newly forming friendship with Chuck keep her at bay? Just what will Emerson Cod knit tonight? Here’s to hoping we get some answers.

Tonight’s episode, “Corpsicle” will air at 8pm on ABC. I, along with other Pushing Daisies fans, will be meeting at ThePieMaker.com at 8pm to watch the show together and discuss as we watch. We hope you’ll join us before, during, and after and celebrate the final new episode…at least for a while.

My wife and I watch this show every new episode. It must continue!!!

Catching my first episode of Pushing Daisies a few weeks in, I was still hooked immediately! Although I have the utmost respect for the WGA and what they are fighting for, I hope that the issues can be resolved soon so we can continue to have great shows like this live on. It would be a terrible shame to create something so wonderfully different and then take it away just as quickly…

  5. Holly on December 14th, 2007 1:20 am

This is my absolute favorite show of the season! My whole family loves it and my little boy always says, “Is it Wednesday Mommy? There is a new episode of Pushing Daisies on tonight!” Evidently, he can not say that anymore! I can’t wait for more shows to be written! It’s extremely entertaining. Good luck to all of the people involved in creating this show!

  6. Jonathon on December 14th, 2007 10:11 am

I love this show. There isnt another like it. I hope the quality stays this high when the show returns. I also hope the fans will build and Pushing Daisies will become the HIT it deserves to be.

This show will join Sportsnight, Wonderfalls, Arrested Development, and Firefly as a reminder of what is wrong with society. Their cancellation (or in the scenario for PD a strike that will lead to its eventual dismissal) is a tragedy in the world of good writing and creativity. Like these shows or not, the uniqueness behind each is undeniable. Enjoy them while you can, cherish their brilliance, and wave a sad goodbye as the best shows on television slip into obscurity to be replaced by mindless garbage. Where are we going and why?

  8. Kimmy Gentz on December 20th, 2007 8:06 am

I’ll be so sad if this show ends…i look forward to watching it each week. it’s definitely my favorite new show of the year.

  9. Red on December 27th, 2007 7:29 pm

Pushing daisies is one of the most original and endearing shows I’ve seen in a while. Just kind of emerged during an unlucky time. Hopefully this won’t be last we see of the Piemaker and Dead girl.

  10. Meg on December 28th, 2007 10:46 pm

What date will the show air again on?

  11. Julia on January 2nd, 2008 8:59 pm

I, too, would like to know when Ned, Chuck, and the gang will return to regularly scheduled programming. Withdrawal is closing in here at our house.

  12. Lindsay on January 3rd, 2008 3:42 pm

I love this show. When can it come back? It brought a ray of sunshine to the darkest of days.

  13. Shonda on January 3rd, 2008 4:30 pm

l love this show, Look forword to it each wednesday. Can’t wait until to find out when the show will return, never missed a show.

  14. Walter on January 3rd, 2008 4:35 pm

Can’t wait until this show returns. Never missed a show

  15. kim on January 9th, 2008 1:52 pm

I would crumble if this show was to disappear! I absolutley love it! It is the one of the best shows of the new season. i HATE that its being replaced by unruly children and parents that cant control them a.k.a supernanny as well as i never gave my wife enough credit until my polar opposite came to stay a.k.a. wife swap….BOO to abc if they take off Pushing Daisies

  16. Cara on January 9th, 2008 5:24 pm

I love this show! It has to be one of my all time favorites. I looked forward to watching it every week. It’s what got me thru the work day! Now that it’s not on, I have nothing else to watch. I hate all those other crappy shows. If you know when it’s coming back on, please post it! They can’t just leave it that the aunt is really the mom!

  17. Deya on January 9th, 2008 6:33 pm

It’s a great show, looked forward to each episode.

  18. Shirlene on January 9th, 2008 6:44 pm

Please….Please….Please bring back Pushing Daisies! This is the best Show of the season! My mother and I both enjoy watching this…either together or we’re watching it and discussing it on the phone. If the writer’s strike causes it to be canceled….I guarantee I won’t watch any ABC Period. After all if the network chooses to cancel the absolute best show I’ve seen in years, I have no desire to watch anything from that network. Until they bring back new episodes of Pushing Daisies….I’ll just watch cable shows. I’ll keep checking each Wednesday night…but I am very dissappointed in the writer’s. Their striking doesn’t give me any sympathy towards them. If they don’t want to do their job…find a different one just like the rest of us! Get a grip and get back to work!

  19. Steve on January 17th, 2008 11:29 pm

For so long we have waited for something new and refreshing. This show has been a must see for us. With so many violent cop shows on, along with other poorly created reality shows, the choices are so few for great entertainment. The show is so unique and uplifting. The show brings a different twist to violence (murder). It is undeniably one of the best new shows to come along in years. This is what is needed to replace the mindless garbage that is put in front of use every night. We enjoy this show and cherish it’s brilliance. Please come back!!!

  20. Alexis on January 18th, 2008 4:31 pm

They really do need to bring this show back, I am so sick of good shows that finally come along and my family really likes them, and then they just disappear. Yes I understand the writers strike but come on resolve it and get this show back on the air. I won’t even turn this channel on anymore on wednesday until they do because the shows on now like super nanny and wife swap are awful, in fact if they want to get rid of a show or two these should be some of the first garbage to head out to the trash!
So Please if you have any consideration of viewers with taste who aren’t interesting in watching mind-numbing, reality garbage………………………. Bring Back Pushing Daisies!

  21. Julie on January 23rd, 2008 11:00 pm

I’m seeing that there is starting to be new shows on ABC so why is Pushing Daisies not back on yet? I miss it, it was the only show I absolutely had to watch every week. I have to know what happens to Ned and Chuck I am in love with them both.

  22. Give Me My Remote on January 23rd, 2008 11:05 pm

Pushing Daisies has no more new eps left.

  23. Just another grad student on February 2nd, 2008 2:24 pm

I really miss this show. *sigh*

I don’t have time to watch television very much – and plus I don’t like to – but something about the poignancy and romance of this one got right under my skin. In a world where so much of love is mixed in with lust, it is oddly, but perhaps not surprisingly, appealing to have a pair of protagonists that can’t even touch one another.

I know it’s been quite a while since it went off the air. Perhaps we could write new episodes, just for ourselves?

  24. Shannon on February 21st, 2008 10:56 am

Icould not wait to watch the very first episode for this ingenious show. What a breath of fresh air. Finally something that the whole family can watch and enjoy, and you do not have to worry about language, or suggestions that are inappropriate.

I have grown increasingly frustrated with evening programming, to the point where I stopped watching almost everything. I was instantly in love with each and every one of these characters. The story is simple, and very much like a fairytale surrealism.

Thank you for this show. I am anxiously awaiting its return.

  25. Norm on February 22nd, 2008 11:18 am

As usual for network television, anything not a derivative of something in the movies or a spin-off gets wasted because it is different!

    Shame on ABC

  26. Tony on February 23rd, 2008 10:19 pm

My wife and I love this show we cannot wait until it returns, we have never missed an episode, bring it back.

  27. Shareen on February 27th, 2008 3:03 pm

Please, please, pleeeeease get Pushing Daisies back on the air! I love this show. I’ll gladly watch reruns and hope, now that the writer’s strike has ended, that new episodes will air soon.

  28. Christina on March 3rd, 2008 5:28 pm

My nine year old daughter and I love this show! The concept of the show, the humor and the story lines are great. And with a character like Emerson Cod who never fails to make us laugh, how can you not bring this show back?!. We look forward to the show’s return!!

  29. Kath on March 4th, 2008 2:08 am

Please, Please bring back this wonderfully, cleaverly written wholesome show. My whole family loved each show and waiting a whole long week for the next episode seemed like forever. Finally, we had something funny and captivating to watch and now it’s gone. Bring back our breath of fresh air.

  30. Linda on March 6th, 2008 4:00 pm

    Pushing Daisies Encore please!!!!!!!!
“Ned” please touch the ABC logo once and bring back the program!!!!!
It is by and far the most endearing program I’ve seen in years. I love the characters, plots, format, the sets, colors they use in the program – absolutely everything.
    Pushing Daisies MUST come back!!!!
It’s fit for the whole family!!!

  31. Teresa Stephens on March 12th, 2008 8:22 pm

I have to agree with all of the other people on this site. Pushing Daisies is the best. This world has gone crazy with reality television…..to the point that it is sickening. Pushing Daisies was a breath of fresh air every Wednesday night. I would record it so that I could watch it when I got home from church. I looked forward to it all day long and could hardly wait until the next Wednesday to see what was going to happen with Ned and Chuck. The pleasant feeling you get from watching them is exhilarating. A much needed inspiration in this day and age of violence and reality t.v. PLEASE HURRY AND BRING PUSHING DAISIES BACK!!!!!!!

  32. valarie on March 25th, 2008 12:20 am

Why is The Big Bang Theory still on, and Pushing Daisies cancelled?
Pushing Daisies was a fun creative show with much potential. There are no shows that I would say compare. This is the kind of show that you pay writers for. Otherwise, what was the writers strike about.
There is no need for writers in reality shows, and it shows. They are less than entertaining. Maybe reality shows should be titled How ”NOT” to act (double entendre applies).
PLEASE ABC bring it back, Pushing Daisies was creative on all levels. No other station as anything like it, not even cable.
What do we need to do or say to convince you to Bing it back????

  33. Portland,Oregon on March 25th, 2008 12:33 am

Bring it back, there is no better show out there. You have other good shows, but this one is great and different.
As you can see people really love this show, I don’t know how this was even was considered to be on the chopping block let alone getting cut?
    This is bewildering please reconsider!

  34. Give Me My Remote on March 25th, 2008 7:41 am

PUSHING DAISIES has NOT been canceled. The second season will return in September.

  35. Felicia on April 10th, 2008 7:06 pm

I am SOOOO happy to hear that this show will return in September!!! I hate to wish away the summer but I can’t wait!!! Thank You!!!

  36. Karri on April 29th, 2008 6:01 pm

please hurry & come back on!!! this is the best show ever!!

  37. Aimee on May 7th, 2008 4:36 pm

This show is a shining star in the dismal world of ‘reality’ -dominating TV. Thank you for creating an original show that breaks the mold. Looking forward to the new episodes!

    I’m from korea.
    this show is so great~!!
    I can’t wait

  39. Lee on May 25th, 2008 6:57 pm

I am so happy that the show will be coming back. I do wish they would show repeats so I can get caught back up in time for the new season. This show is so great. I love the fairy-tale feeling you get from it.

  40. lee robinson on December 3rd, 2008 10:06 pm

please, please don’t cancell “pushing Daiseys”I’ve never written regarding a tv show before. It’s too good to be taken off.Get rid of some of the other crappy shows first!!

  41. Crystal S. on December 5th, 2008 3:34 am

I’m extremely disappointed with ABC’s decision to pull this one off the air. Among very few other shows that ABC has aired, Pushing Daisies is the intelligent, witty, and fulfilling. I could even watch this show muted because the visuals are so stunning, but I would never want to do that because the dialogue is so great. Why can’t any of the shallow drone shows be taken off? Why does the different and exciting get taken off? It’s not like we need another doctor drama. Please let this fairy tale have a happy ending…well not ending, but continuation!

  42. veronica on December 20th, 2008 8:03 pm

It should become an HBO show.
Is there a petition or something, I dont want it to end 🙁

  43. Matthew Carter on February 2nd, 2009 7:32 pm

I loved this show, I am sad that it is not on and that it has been canceled. I don’t know why there needs to be more DRAMA and LIES and SEX on TV when there was this good natured, fun, pure show. I loved the variety, the creativity, and FRESH idea. Why are the good shows canceled for TRASH!? Sad.

  44. sarah on February 3rd, 2009 8:58 pm

Why are the good shows always canceled while the same endlessly repetitive crap remains season after season? Pushing Daisies was fresh and new, something television had never seen before. I don’t watch much TV but Pushing Daisies was a show I took the time to watch weekly. Now we’re left with the brain rotting television. Thanks folks at ABC, you ruined my Wednesday!

  45. Lulu on February 11th, 2009 2:35 am

At IMDB they have March 4, 2009 listed for the original airdate for season 2 episode 11… who knows, as I can’t seem to find any other information confirming this… but it’s worth noting.

  46. Alex Vandervoort on November 25th, 2009 12:12 pm

Well it’s a shame really….such an original show, well i guess the best thing to do is buy the dvd’s so maybe they realize that there is indeed money to make with Pushing Daisies.
