If you grew up listening to Debbie Gibson, begged your mother to take you to the mall to see Tiffany, or you loved K.I.D.S Incorporated’ Stacey (before she became Fergalicious) then you are going to love Robin Sparkles.

Way before Alanis Morrisette and whomever it was that won Canadian Idol, Robin Sparkles was Canada’s greatest singing sensation. With songs like “Let’s Go to the Mall”, Robin forever changed the musical landscape.  But soon after, Robin disappeared never to be heard from again.  Until now…

Robin Sparkles has been found! Rumor has it she’s working at a crappy news station in NYC (but she has a really cute boyfriend, so that’s something).  We are on a mission to bring Robin Sparkles back!!! Thanks to Robin’s friend Swarley for helping us to locate our idol. It seems Robin has developed a strong distaste for shopping malls and her friend (who insists we call him Barney, although we dont’ know why) did some digging and discovered her hidden past.  Come on, I find it hard to believe that Swarley didn’t know who Robin Sparkles was!!!

    Hahahaha! She say’s “soorry” and “aboot”. This is awesome! I really like the giggle in the middle of the song. It makes it totally 80’s.

    I can’t wait for the episode now. Swarley is going to have a field day.

    So this combined with hearing Debbie Gibson’s “Only in my Dreams” in Whole Foods yesterday have convinced me that 1988 is sooooo making a comeback. Considering that I peaked in 1989, I think that this is a good sign–the whole Office cast interventions are just the beginning!

    I cannot wait until tonight’s ep of HIMYM!
