Solange Knowles is a Fool
August 27, 2008 by Give Me My Remote
Out promoting her new album, Solange was asked in a pre-interview about whether or not she wanted to comment on the closing of Jay-Z’s Vegas nightclub. She declined. And so after an enthusiastic intro by the news anchor, Solange gets all huffy saying, “I have to say, that was not a very professional introduction before. Please don’t tie me into family and my brother-in-law’s establishment.” It seems Miss Solange thought the talk of Jay-Z happened on air. It didn’t. She looked stupid.
And so what if she was asked the question. There are polite and more professional ways to respond. Need a hint Solange? Try “no comment”.
How rich is that Solange doesn’t want to be tied into “family”. Like this chick would even have a career if she wasn’t Beyonce’s sister.
Sorry, that was just a little late night venting on my part. Some people!!

Ha ha. Thanks for sharing that. She really looked dumb.
Wow, what an annoying woman. You’re right–she’s only getting attention because of her sister. I’ve heard her new song and it’s very meh to me. I bet she’ll fall flat on her not-so-smart face…
Definitely painted herself in a bad light there.
She says Beyonce has a lot to learn about motherhood, but this “baby diva” has got a lot to learn about adulthood. Sounds like she’s jealous of her big sis.
There were a lot of classier ways that Solange could have responded, but I know where she is coming from. She is doing her own thing and it can become annoying when family is constantly brought up. I love both of Solange’s new songs. I think she is stepping out and coming into her own and doing a great job. She just needs to just work on her PR skills.
Hint to Solange: If you don’t want to be mentioned as Beyonce’s sister then go into a different career (preferably one in which you don’t speak). If you are a singer you will be introduced as “the sister” until you “earn” your name on it’s own merit. Look at Jessica and Ashlee Simpson. They don’t get introduced as each others sisters.
Good luck spinning and responding to the backlash. It’ll get you in the media for a week if nothing else.
Solange who?
I felt bad for the interviewer! And Solange could have smiled a little and at least acted warm and friendly!
