Earlier in the summer, my friend/vodcast partner-in-crime Danielle Turchiano (from Made Possible By Pop Culture) talked about the start of the new CBS series, UNDER THE DOME.

While I was able to keep up with the show during the Comic-Con/TCA insanity, Time Warner Cable blacking out CBS prevented me from watching the past few weeks. So when Danielle and I checked in on the show, she had a few more things to say about what had gone down than I did…

Network television has traditionally struggled with scripted fare in recent years, but for CBS, they hit it big with their adaptation of the Stephen King novel, UNDER THE DOME.

After watching the first episode of the show, I sat down with my friend/vodcast partner-in-crime Danielle Turchiano (from Made Possible By Pop Culture) to talk about the pilot, the changes (so far) from the book, and more…

CBS Orders 13 Episodes of Stephen King’s UNDER THE DOME

CBS has made another move to ensure that summer of 2013 is going to be filled with original scripted content: the network has ordered 13 episodes of UNDER THE DOME, a series based on the Stephen King book of the same title. (The series is also produced by Steven Speilberg.)

Per CBS, “UNDER THE DOME is the story of a small New England town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome.  The town’s inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from and if and when it will go away.”

“This is a great novel coming to the television screen with outstanding auspices and in-season production values to create a summer programming event,” said Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment in a statement.  “We’re excited to transport audiences UNDER THE DOME and into the extraordinary world that Stephen King has imagined.”
