THE OFFICE Thursday Returns…with Some Prizes!!

April 10, 2008 by

Cast of The Office

It’s here. It’s really here. Tonight THE OFFICE returns to NBC with an all new episode. I don’t know about you but I gave up counting down the days and even the hours. I’m down to watching each minute pass by until the cold open begins tonight at 9pm.

The online community for THE OFFICE is amazing and I know how excited all OFFICE fans are for the return of our favorite comedy. I didn’t know what to do to properly celebrate the return so I thought we all could celebrate together by sharing our very favorite OFFICE memory. Doing so just might win you Seasons 1-3 of THE OFFICE on DVD.

Win The Office on DVD

GMMR was just gifted with three sets S1-3 on DVD to celebrate the return of the show. On behalf of OFFICE fans*, I’m donating two of the three sets to U.S. soldiers fighting abroad, because really does anyone need a laugh more than those men and women? But that leaves one set of DVDs for YOU.

If you’d like a shot at winning the first three seasons of THE OFFICE on DVD then just leave a comment sharing your very favorite moment of THE OFFICE. And if you already own all three seasons, well don’t let that hold you back. You can still win them and share them with a friend, or donate them.

Let’s start celebrating the return of THE OFFICE right now!!

Update: Don’t forget that Greg Daniel and the writers from THE OFFICE will be live blogging after the show (9:30pm EST) at NBC.com.  Submit questions for Greg and team here.

(NBC.com posted the cold open to tonight’s show. If I were you I’d muster all your strength and NOT watch it. Save yourself. Oh and if you do watch it, please don’t discuss it in the comments.)

*This week’s THE OFFICE Thursday is in honor of GMMR reader Sara W. for her recent generosity to GMMR. Pay it forward! Thanks, Sara!!

I’ll admit, I’m not a die-hard The Office fan … but I’d like to me! A lot of my online friends are, and I have seen select episodes when it played alongside Earl (which I did watch). But last year I just either didn’t get the motivation to watch, or it collided with another show (Grey’s perhaps?), or whatever the reason … I’ve maybe seen a handful of eps. But every episode I’ve seen has made me laugh SO freakin’ hard, that I keep telling myself: “you MUST watch this show!”. So … yeah. Winning those three seasons would give me REASON to become a die-hard fan. Please? 🙂

Wow, so many moments to chose from but I think if I have to chose only ONE I would have to go with Jim’s confession in the PLOD followed by the kiss in the office at the end. I know it’s sounds cliche and maybe saying it sounds cliche sounds cliche…I don’t care. I am what I am.

Melora was just on the morning radio show and they were talking about the return and well, I don’t know what I was going to say other than YAY, it’s Thursday. I really don’t think I’m going to get any work done today. I’m going to be thinking about the show all day.

  3. Alyssa on April 10th, 2008 10:51 am

My favorite moment was from Casino Night when Jim tells Pam he loves her. I’ve seen that episode a hundred times and it makes me squeal each time. I

  4. Jo on April 10th, 2008 10:54 am

So many great moments to choose. But for me, the hardest I’ve ever laughed in my life while watching TV comes from Michael’s talking head in Casino Night:
“Tonight the Scranton Business Park is having Casino Night and we are converting our warehouse into a full-blown gambling hall. And I know it’s illegal in Pennsylvania, but it’s for charity. And I consider myself a great philanderer. It’s just… It’s nice to know at the end of the day, I can look in the mirror and say, “Michael, because of you, some little kid in the Congo has a belly full of rice this evening.” Makes you feel good.”

  5. wince on April 10th, 2008 10:54 am

My favorite moment is from “Casino Night”. When Jim loses in poker to Pam even though he Isn’t bluffed by her poker face. What a great guy. I don’t need the Dvds I already have them. I cant wait for tonight!

  6. Nancy on April 10th, 2008 11:06 am

Hands down favorite moment was Pam’s speech in the “Beach Games” episode.

“Hey, I want to say something. I’ve been trying to be more honest lately and I just need to say a few things. I did the coal walk! I just did it. Michael, you couldn’t even do that. Maybe I should be your boss. Wow, I feel really good right now. Why didn’t any of you come to my art show? I invited all of you. That really sucked. It’s like sometimes some of you act like I don’t even exist. Jim, I called off my wedding because of you and now we’re not even friends. And things are just weird between us and that sucks. And I miss you. You were my best friend before you went to Stamford and I really miss you. I shouldn’t have been with Roy. And there were a lot of reasons to call off my wedding, but the truth is I didn’t care about any of those reasons until I met you. And now you’re with someone else and that’s fine, it’s whatever, that’s not what I’m…OK, my feet really hurt. The thing that – I’m just trying to say to you, Jim, and to everyone else in the circle I guess, is that I miss having fun with you. Just you, not everyone in the circle. OK, I am going to go walk in the water now. Yep. Good day.”

  7. BringMePlayers on April 10th, 2008 11:08 am

Up until this season, Jim’s confession to Pam and subsequent kiss on Casino Night were my favorite moments (they still hold a very special place in my heart). I think now, though, that has been replaced by the end of Money: the kiss in the office and the discussion about Italian food. It makes me all tingly : )

  8. Elena on April 10th, 2008 11:12 am

O man, SO many great moments to choose from so I’m gonna post 2. One of my favorite things about the show is the subtle moments so I’ll post those …
In diversity day when pam falls asleep on jim’s shoulder, the look on his face as the camera zooms in on his face, and the close: “Not a bad day” even though he lost his biggest sale.
And 2nd, is in the injury when jim is carrying dwight out of the office to take to the hospital:
    Dwight: chumchumchumchumchumchumchum
    Jim: what are you doing?
    Dwight: Vietnam sounds
And then the whole spraybottle part after that. It’s so random BUT totally fits dwight.

    So excited for tonight’s return!

  9. vicki on April 10th, 2008 11:15 am

I love everything about this show!! My favorite moment would probably be the van ride and hospital visit in Injury. 🙂 The whole ride in the van was hillarious! Merediths booze, Michaels childish behavior, the squirt bottle…..then the hospital paperwork, the cat scan with michaels foot, Dwight using the ‘thats what she said’ joke with the doctor…..it was just classic!!! There are way too many lines to type out that made this episode great@!!

  10. Kelly on April 10th, 2008 11:20 am

Although I love Jim and Dwight bickering, my favorite Office moment was between Phyllis and Angela.
Phyllis: I thought you said green was whorish?
Angela: No….(looks at what Phyllis is wearing)…*Orange* is whorish!

  11. Vicki on April 10th, 2008 11:22 am

It posted my comment like 4 times!
    I’m sorry!!!

  12. Megan on April 10th, 2008 11:22 am

There are far too many favorite moments to choose from, but a standout is from Office Olympics. The entire staff in the conference room competing in Flonkerton is a classic Office scene. From Dwight’s description of his No. 2 position with Michael (he’s Butch Cassidy to Michael’s Mozart) to Angela’s icy disapproval of the staff’s games, to Pam and Jim cohorting together, Office Olympics is an episode that will go down in the history books. But, after all that, I knew Phyllis was my girl after this exchange:

Jim: Okay, that’s H-O-R for Stanley, and H-O for Phyllis.
Phyllis: Are you callin’ me a ho?
Jim: Oh my god. Phyllis coming alive, I like it.

    God bless Thursdays!

  13. Megan on April 10th, 2008 11:25 am

For me the best part of any episode of the Office has to be the very end of last season, when during the last few moments in “The Job” when Jim pops his head in during Pam’s TH and asks her to dinner. I still get a little emotional every time I see it because it was such a great moment and one we had all been rooting for since day one!

Office Thursdays on GMMR are back! Another reason to celebrate!!

Let’s see, what is my favorite moment?!?!? So so so many! I would have to say it’s from “The Fight” when Michael and Dwight are at the dojo and Michael is on top of Dwight trying to pin him down and Michael is trying to spit in his mouth and Michael is yelling, “Open Your Mouth!” That phrase coming from Michael brings tears to my eyes every time!

  16. Jonathan on April 10th, 2008 11:41 am

My favorite moment is in The Client. Throughout the whole episode, you watch Michael’s antics and think “Oh my God! He is gonna blow this!” and it makes the ending FANTASTIC when you see that he knew what he was doing all along. He ends up being an excellent salesman and gets the client after all. Such a great moment! I love it when Michael shows his sales prowess.

  17. Jake on April 10th, 2008 11:41 am

My absolute favorite episode is the “Survivor Man” spoof! I love when he cuts off his sleeves and pantlegs and the next scene he’s duct taped them back on! I’m laughing just thinking about it. Everything about the episode is great. I also love when Phyllis calls Jim “Michael”.

“The sun is in the 2/3rds quadrant so that makes it(looks at watch), about 2 o’clock.”

  18. HealthcareHottie on April 10th, 2008 11:42 am

This is a real momentous occaision. The return of Office Thursdays!!!! Life is good again.

I already have all 3 seasons of The Office on DVD, but I can’t help but get in on this action.

My favorite moments are when Jim comes in dressed like Dwight. “Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.” is absolutely my favorite phrase.

And then at the end when Dwight comes in dressed like Jim and asks karen if she wants to have sexual intercouse. I can never watch those scenes enough, they always make me laugh.

Thanks for posting the cold open. I have absolutely no will power, but if for some reason I miss it, I won’t feel like I missed out.

Kath – are we having a Buddy TV chat tonight. Please say yes, please, oh please, oh please!!!!!!

  19. Catherine on April 10th, 2008 11:43 am

So hard to choose just one, but I think mine has to be: “Hey” “Hi” exchange between Jim and Pam after the jinx ends. It still makes me smile a silly smile every time I remember it.

  20. Brian on April 10th, 2008 11:45 am

If my comment is the winning comment, then please donate my DVDs to the troops as well. I just had to log in and say how awesome it was to come here and see the words “Office Thursday”.

And there’s no way I’m watching that cold open.

  21. Amber on April 10th, 2008 11:47 am

I have so many favorite moments. Of Course the Pam and Jim Kiss after Casino night but thats a given.
My other favorite moment was in Benihana (sp) Christmas, when Dwight has to sit away from the rest of the group and keeps asking Jim whats happening and Jim tells him something completley different and it’s hillarious.

  22. Maggie on April 10th, 2008 11:56 am

    Season Two, “The Injury”

Jim and Michael take Dwight to the hospital in Meredith’s van. This entire scene is perfection! From Jim spraying Dwight and Michael with water, to Dwight finding the liquor under the seat, so Michael threatening to fire Dwight and Dwight replying, “You can’t fire me! I don’t work in this van!”

This is one of my favorite episodes of all time.

  23. Lisa (aka lmr) on April 10th, 2008 11:57 am

There are so many but to add one not already mentioned, in The Injury when Jim keeps spraying Dwight and at one point Dwight says ‘you can’t fire me, I don’t work in this van.’ I laughed just typing that.

Not expecting to win but should my name come up I likewise would request that the DVDs be sent overseas.

Ah, Office Thursday and all is right with the world.

  24. Kim on April 10th, 2008 11:58 am

Like so many other posters, there are just too many moments to choose from…but probably one of my favorite swoon moments is when Pam makes Jim buy a coke from her after their jinx and that first “Hi” that squeaks out of him…My friends know I love that moment so much, they had it put on my birthday cake last year!

  25. Julianne on April 10th, 2008 11:58 am

I have two favorite two scenes, one being a deleted scene. My favorite scene from the Office is the beginning of “Product Recall” when Jim comes in dressed as Dwight. HILARIOUS. It made me want to run out, buy some glasses and a calculator watch, and then check my credit score because “Identity theft is NOT a joke, Jim.”

The deleted scene I loved is from the same episode, when Ryan keeps repeating, “Customer Service, this is Kelly. Oh my God, I am sooo sorry. That is so messed up. Everyone here is so upset, you have no idea. Rest assured, I’ll be thinking about you all day.”

FACT: Bears, beets (beats) Battlestar Galactica.

  26. Jules on April 10th, 2008 12:01 pm

So many good Office moments to choose from and already so many good ones mentioned.

If I had to go for what this show is all about, it’s about the people in the Office and how they all get along. So right now, my favorite moment is when Michael shows up to Pam’s art show when no one else really did or really wanted, too. Even though it seems like sometimes Michael doesn’t care, he really does deep down somewhere, he just doesn’t always show it…

And yes, I mustered up the strength to not watch the cold open. I can’t wait for tonight and so jealous of you east coasters, who get to view it before me!! 😉

  27. Post-it Thief on April 10th, 2008 12:03 pm

I love love love the “Hi”/”Hey” moment between Jim and Pam at the end of Drug Testing. It’s sweet and subtle and SO tension-filled.
But pretty much every other season two moment works as well.
    Can’t wait for tonight!
P.S. I think it’s awesome that you’re donating them to the troops.

  28. Maggie on April 10th, 2008 12:04 pm

I see some other people also mentioned “The Injury” so I’m going to post my second favorite moment. From Season Four, “The Deposition.”

I loved the entire deposition, but the best part when was they’re reading from Michael’s diary and they can’t figure out who Ryan is and Toby loses it and starts giggling. I wish I could remember the exact lines!

Which reminds me of when Michael asked for his line, and the guy was like, he asked for a line — like in a play.

    🙂

  29. Emily S. on April 10th, 2008 12:10 pm

My favorite moment changes all the time since I’m always finding new favorite moments when re-watching the show. But my current favorite is when Jim is comforting a broken hearted Dwight in the stairwell and tells him about why he left Scranton and then Jim comes back into the office and gives Pam the most swoon-inducing kiss ever. Oh, my!

  30. Michelle on April 10th, 2008 12:12 pm

I’d have to say my favorite moment comes from ‘The Injury’. Jim spraying Dwight in the face with water like he’s a cat jumping up on the table. And the Country Crock moment from the same episode. Priceless.

  31. janet on April 10th, 2008 12:13 pm

It’s a toss up for me. It’s between the 27 seconds of silence on Booze Cruise or Pam’s speech on Beach Games. Those two scenes have me on the edge of my seat every time I watch them. (And I’ve watched them alot, a whole lot, more times that even a die hard Dunderhead should)….

  32. Laura on April 10th, 2008 12:23 pm

When I think of my favorite moments from the show, one that always comes to mind is from “Healthcare” – when Dwight is reading aloud some of the fake diseases. When he gets to “hot dog fingers” and the camera catches Angela and Kevin (or, more appropriately, Angela and Brian) laughing. I can watch that over and over and laugh just as hard each time!

  33. Jill on April 10th, 2008 12:24 pm

There are too many to name, so here are just two: 1) the Jim dressed as Dwight prank and the resulting Dwight dressed/acting like Jim prank.

2)Jim pounding on his keyboard when Michael and Dwight call him in Stanford to ask where they can buy gaydar. “here let me look at SharperImage.com for you” pound, pound pound

  34. Emily on April 10th, 2008 12:26 pm

must not watch….ha. I love this show.
Also, o you for donating the DVDs, thats awesome.
I love this show more than life itself…. is that sad?

And hmm, favorite moment. I love so many, but I am going to go with what drew me to the series. The first episode I watched was Michael’s Birthday, which is not everyone’s favorite. But Jim and Pam’s shopping trip, from fabric softener to “luke this is your father”…. I love it.

  35. Michelle on April 10th, 2008 12:26 pm

My favorite scene has to be the one Joss Whedon directed with the bat. I just cracked up. That and when Andy loses it and punches the wall.

    🙂

  36. Jennifer on April 10th, 2008 12:30 pm

My favorite Office moment so far…
Pam: I haven’t heard anything, but I bet Jim got the job. I mean, why wouldn’t he? He’s totally qualified, and smart, everyone loves him… and, if he never comes back again… that’s OK. We’re friends. And I’m sure we’ll stay friends. We just, we never got the timing right. You know? I shot him down, and then he did the same to me, and… But you know what? It’s OK. I’m totally fine. Everything is gonna be totally— [Jim walks in]
Jim: Pam. [to camera] Sorry. [to Pam] Um, are you free for dinner tonight?
    Pam: Yes.
    Jim: All right. Then… it’s a date.
Pam: [to camera, tearing up, smiling] I’m sorry, what was the question?

It’s exactly what we’ve all been waiting 3 years for! Love it!!!! =)

  37. CristenW23 on April 10th, 2008 12:37 pm

The cold open of Jim as Dwight AND the ending of Dwight as Jim – ONE OF THE BEST! “Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica.”

You’ve all said it best, God Bless Thursday Night NBC!

  38. Shevon on April 10th, 2008 12:37 pm

My favorite scene comes from my favorite Office couple…Michael and Toby! Their interactions are just too funny. My favorite scene is from a deleted scene in the “Halloween” episode when Toby is in Michaels office asking for the name of the person he is letting go and he tells Toby “Just know if I could have fired you, I would have.” and Toby in all of his Tobiness responds “I know, Michael.” Just the way Toby says it, it cracks me up evertime.

A close second is the whole scene with Michael, Dwight, and Jim in the van in “The Injury” episode. “You can’t fire me, I don’t work in this van!”…that whole scene was genius.

  39. Angie on April 10th, 2008 12:38 pm

I have one scene that always makes me laugh, no matter how many times I’ve watched it:
Jim Halpert: Sometimes I send Dwight faxes from himself…from the future
Dwight Schrute: [reading fax] Dear Dwight, At 8:00 someone will poison the coffee. Do not drink the coffee! More instructions will follow. Cordially, Future Dwight
Dwight Schrute: [sees Stanley about to drink the coffee and sprints across the office, knocking the cup out of Stanley’s hand]
    Dwight Schrute: NO!
[after knocking the cup to the floor]
Dwight Schrute: You’ll thank me later.

    Best office scene ever.

  40. Ang on April 10th, 2008 12:40 pm

Ok, I am going to say something Non-Jam related!

My favorite moment is when Kelly has to train Oscar, Kevin, and Angela in the ‘Product Recall’ episode.

Kelly: This day is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S, this day is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S …

    8:00pm cannot come soon enough!

  41. Tim G. on April 10th, 2008 12:44 pm

I’m a sucker for Dwight smacking the coffee mug out of Stanley’s hand after reading the latest message from Future Dwight.

    “NOOOOOOO!”

  42. Randy on April 10th, 2008 12:44 pm

Definitely when Michael marked the waitresses arm in Benihana Christmas. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed out loud so hard in my life.

Oh and am I seeing two Toby’s in that cartoon up top?

Good luck to me winning the dvds! 😉

  43. lauren85 on April 10th, 2008 12:45 pm

SO many favorite moments! No one has said mine yet though…

Jim: To tell you the truth, I … used to have a big thing for Pam, so …
Michael: Really. You’re kidding me. You and Pam? Wow. I would have never put you two together, you really hid it well. God! I usually have a radar for stuff like that. You know I made out with Jan …
    Jim: Yeah, I know.
Michael: Yeah … yup. Well Pam is cute.
Jim: Yeah. She’s really funny. She’s warm … and she’s just … anyway.
Michael: Well if you like her so much, don’t give up.
    Jim: She’s engaged.
    Michael: BFD. Engaged ain’t married.
    Jim: Huh.
Michael: Never, ever, EVER, give up.

  44. Ang on April 10th, 2008 12:45 pm

    This is not Jam related!!!

    Product recall.

When Kelly has to train Oscar, Kevin, & Angela on customer service..

Kelly: This day is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S, this day is bananas, B-A-N-A …

    Also Jim: Beer me Strength!

  45. Kelsy on April 10th, 2008 12:48 pm

How do I pick a favorite? I love ALL of the moments on this show. But I guess if I have to choose, right now I would say the scene where Pam is crying in the hallway and Dwight comforts her in a way only he can. “You’re PMS-ing pretty bad, huh?” And then the look that Pam gives him. It makes me giggle just to think about!

Also in the running for favorite scene would be when Jim dresses like Dwight. “Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.” Need I say more?

  46. Chelsea on April 10th, 2008 12:53 pm

I absolutely love the scene in “Local Ad” where Michael compares the accounting department to the three bears, and Kevin points at Oscar and calls him “momma bear.” The delivery is amazing.

  47. Courtney on April 10th, 2008 12:55 pm

My favorite memory has to be when Michael offers the team a “surprise” and shows up with ice cream sandwiches. Yes, this seems pretty lowkey, but when you’ve worked in an office that’s having terrible lay-off problems and they offer you an ice cream sundae bar to cheer you up, you know exactly why that moment is probably the best EVER.

  48. JenR on April 10th, 2008 1:02 pm

I love Diversity Day, it was the episode that got me hooked. But I have to say I also love The Dundies because whenever my husband and I eat at Chili’s I really feel God in there… great stuff!

  49. LaLa on April 10th, 2008 1:16 pm

I gotta go with Jim’s “I’m in love with you” confession to Pam on Casino Night. One of the greatest moments EVER in television, IMO, because it was so completely raw and honest and real. Perfection.

  50. Jen on April 10th, 2008 1:32 pm

The van ride in “The Injury” is still my all-time favorite moment. I cannot remember ever laughing so hard as when I first saw it. Perfecly ridiculous.

  51. Brandi on April 10th, 2008 1:40 pm

OK so this is basically just ONE of my favorite moments because asking me to pick THE favorite moment is like asking me to pick my favorite child-not gonna happen.

Anyhoo-One of the best cold opens in the history of the show was Dwight’s exercise orb. I’ve seen it probably 50 times and still laugh hysterically every time I watch him fall to the ground after Jim stabs it with the scissors! My favorite part of the scene is actually Jim laughing as he runs away. HAHAHAHAHA!

  52. Spicy Curry on April 10th, 2008 1:44 pm

My favorite moment is in Casino Night when Michael says, “I hate so much about the things that you choose to be.” And then the dialogue goes onto Afgans/Afghanis/Afganistananis.

I’m so The Office is back!!!!!

  53. Spicy Curry on April 10th, 2008 1:47 pm

    *happy
I’m so happy that The Office is back that apparently can’t even form a coherent sentence.

  54. Sully on April 10th, 2008 1:49 pm

So, the first scene that came to mind is from Casino night. I will always remember Jim’s “mind-control” abilities. I think the nuances from Jim, Pam and Dwight in that scene (and subsequent scenes revolving around it are priceless). Plus, Pam holding up the umbrella at the end was just the perfect moment.

  55. Michelle on April 10th, 2008 1:51 pm

The best moment in the entire history of The Office… is Season 4, Episode 2 titled “Dunder Mifflin Infinity”

Ryan returns to the office and Kelly, of course, tries to restart their relationship. Ryan isn’t having it until Kelly tells Ryan she’s pregnant.

Kelly: I want you to tell me that you care about me. That is what I want.
Ryan: Kelly, I’m your boss now, OK? You can’t keep talking to me like I’m your boyfriend.
Kelly: Oh big strong man, fancy new whatever. I don’t think you ever cared about me.
Ryan: I never cared about you? Six months ago Karen Filipelli sent me an email. Asked me out. I said no, because I was committed to our relationship.
Kelly: Well, I hope you’re still committed because I’m pregnant. [Ryan in shock]

Then it goes to Kelly’s talking head. And she’s nodding her head “no”….

Then it goes back to their conversation …

Kelly: And guess what buddy, [points at Ryan] I am keeping it.
    Ryan: OK. OK.
Kelly: Do you feel prepared to help me raise a baby?
Ryan: I can… I can’t talk about this right now, OK? After work, we’ll go out to dinner, we’ll talk about it then, OK?

Then back to Kelly’s talking head.

    Kelly: I have a date!

I laughed so hard I fell off the couch and nearly peed my pants. HAHAHAHA.

HAHAHAHA.

didn’t mean to post that three times, sorry. 🙂

  58. El Vee on April 10th, 2008 2:04 pm

It is impossible to pick just one but the first thing that came into my head was during Office Olympics when they gave Michael the gold medal and the camera pans to him and he is teary eyed at the wonder of it. It just breaks my heart. Just when Michael is being such a dolt you want to punch him he comes out with something so vulnerable and sweet it just kills me very single time!

  59. Give Me My Remote on April 10th, 2008 2:23 pm

#57 – Kelly silently shaking her head “no” is one of the best moments…ever!

  60. sigourney woltjen on April 10th, 2008 2:28 pm

My favorite moment is the scene between Dwight and Angela in the episode “Michael’s Birthday” when they are in the kitchen, talking about “that meeting later…to discuss finances.” And Ryan is in there, too. This “No cookie” scene is my all time favorite!!!!!!! 🙂

  61. Calvin on April 10th, 2008 2:29 pm

Best Office moment = Season 3, Traveling Salesmen

Andy singing Oompa Loompa doompadee dawesome Dwight is now gone…(Angela in background giving the look of death)

  62. Pedro on April 10th, 2008 2:39 pm

I think it might have been a deleted scene, but still the best moment in the office:

    Season 3, Ep.1

Karen to Jim: Don’t be such a suck he didn’t make you ruler of the universe just his assistant
Jim: I’m not his assistant, I’m assistant…(realization of saying what Dwight always says)

  63. natasha on April 10th, 2008 2:50 pm

Easily “then…its a date” and the following teary smile. I must have watched that scene a hundred times–it warmed my heart so much!

  64. LT on April 10th, 2008 2:50 pm

My favorite has to be Dwight comforting Pam in the hallway. Such a sweet , tender side of Dwight until the infamous ” you must be pms’ing really bad, huh?”

  65. max on April 10th, 2008 3:00 pm

michael as martin luther king jr

  66. Melissa on April 10th, 2008 3:01 pm

My favorite is the in the first episode I ever watched, “Conflict Resolution.” It is when Michael reads all the complaints written about Jim by Dwight and they go through all the pranks Jim had played on Dwight. I was sitting in bed watching this by myself and laughing so hard I was crying. I was hooked from than moment on and had a catch up on all the past episodes over the course of several days.

The Office is hands down the best comedy, ever! I can’t wait for tonight!

  67. Randi on April 10th, 2008 3:05 pm

Though I love “Casino Night” and “Beach Games” for the BEST Pam & Jim moments, I’ve got to say that my favorite Office memory is “Conflict Resolution”, the Season 2 Finale, with the complaint box and Jim talking about all of the pranks he pulled on Dwight:

Michael: (reading Dwight’s list of complaints) Someone replaced all my pens and pencils with crayons, I suspect Jim Halpert.
Everyone has called me Duane all day, I think Jim Halpert paid them to
Jim: (to the camera) YES! 5 bucks each, and it was totally worth it.
Michael: (again reading Dwight’s complaints) This morning, I found a bloody glove in my desk drawer, and Jim Halpert tried to convince me that I had committed murder. I think he may be the real murderer.
Jim Halpert said there was an abandoned infant in the women’s room. When I went to save the child I saw Meredith on the can. Gaah.
This morning I knocked myself in the head with the phone.
Michael looks confusingly at Dwight. Jim is trying hard to suppress a grin.
Jim: (to the camera) That actually took a while. I had to put uh, more and more nickels into his handset until he got used to the weight, then I just, took them all out.
Michael: (reading the complaints) Every time I typed my name it spelled ‘diapers’
Jim: (to the camera) Just a simple macro. You know.. these actually don’t sound that funny one after another. But he does, deserve it though.
Michael: (reading more complaints) By the end of the day my desk was about two feet closer to the photocopier.
Jim: (to the camera) Yeah I just.. moved it an inch, everytime he went to the bathroom… and.. that’s how I spent my entire day that day.

Jim’s pranks on Dwight are classic! Beets, Bears, Battlestar Galactica. Future Dwight. The original Jell-o mold stapler trick. Awesome!!!

  68. Matt G. on April 10th, 2008 3:17 pm

The scene from “Womens Appreciation” when Dwight has “penises on the brain” hahah

so happy the office thursday is back on GMMR kathie!!

  69. grant on April 10th, 2008 3:30 pm

My favorite moment was on the first episode of the Office I saw, The Injury, when Michael burns his foot on a George Foreman Grill and when Dwight goes to pick him up he runs into the fence and throws up all over his car. That one moment got me hooked on my favorite TV show.

  70. APH on April 10th, 2008 3:37 pm

I really, really, really want those DVDs!

My very favorite office moment is during the Office Olympics when Pam and Jim conceive the idea of Flonkerton-“the national sport of Icelandic paper companies”. I especially love when Jim states: “Phyllis, If you just could put your foot right through here, right through the flonk.”

Whenever we receive our office paper delivery, my first impulse is to play Flonkerton. My coworkers are all old and stuffy so no one has a clue as to why I think a box of paper is so funny. HE! HE!

  71. Ryan on April 10th, 2008 3:43 pm

    hard to pick one.

I’ll go with kind of an odd choice, but its the first one that popped in my head.

At the very end of Drug Testing, Jim in his talking head says, “Wow, what a terrible day to not be able to talk. Dwight was literally carrying around his own urine, and dressed like one of the Village People. Why does he do the things that he does for Michael? I just don’t get it. What is he getting out of that relationship?”

In an episode of non stop silliness and hilarity, this moment struck such a note. I thought it was a brilliant way to end that episode.

  72. Liz on April 10th, 2008 3:47 pm

My favorite moment has to be when the cold open when Jim comes to the office dressed as Dwight. It’s when he calculates the cost on his watch that kills me every time.

  73. Alison Garcia on April 10th, 2008 4:08 pm

My favorite Office moment is when Michael is having a meeting with the staff and He uses the word “Whom” incorrectly. And the whole staff puts in their two-cents about the usage. Kelly’s comment in particular “Ryan used me as an object.” is hilarious!

  74. Kimber on April 10th, 2008 4:14 pm

Whoops! In all my ranting and raving about being a non-Office viewer who wants to become obsessed … I forgot to include a moment! Keep in mind that I’ve seen only a handful of episodes, but I completely 100% remember the episode where Jim hides Dwight’s cellphone in the ceiling. I also recall an episode where Jim and (I think) Pam convince Dwight he’s working for the government. HILARIOUS!

  75. JJ on April 10th, 2008 4:44 pm

    Andy singing “Oompa Loompa”

  76. Lauren on April 10th, 2008 4:57 pm

Favorite office moment? There are so many! But one of my favs is when Jim dressed up as Dwight… and then Dwight dressed as Jim. Hilarious!! TheY each hit each other’s clothing and mannerisms right on the nose. These were priceless moments in Office history!

  77. Lisa on April 10th, 2008 5:27 pm

Okay I have so many favorite Office memories, but my newest favorite comes from Take Your Daughter To Work Day. Michael’s Fundlebundle tape is hilarious. I love how he tells Ryan to basically break into his mom’s house to get the tape and then when they watch it. The puppet’s face when Michael tells him what he wants to be when he is older is so funny. My boyfriend pretty much dies every time he gets to see that episode. It is his favorite. I like when Stanley has his talk with Ryan in that episode as well. That episode is really funny. I never thought it was, but it is my boyfriend’s favorite so we always watch it and every time I do I find some more things to love about it.

  78. Lynzee on April 10th, 2008 5:35 pm

Hands down the funniest moment of all time would be the cell phone prank. Watching Pam and Jim unite in the ultimate prank against Andy was absolutely priceless. I think wine came out my nose as I fell off the couch laughing so hard.

And Pam and Jim giggling about breaking Andy’s brain. And the cliff hanger of Jim admitting to Karen that he still had feelings for Pam??? Ahh It doesn’t get any better than that.

  79. Jordan on April 10th, 2008 5:36 pm

My favorite part is when Jim loses a big sale to Dwight but doesn’t care because Pam put her head on his shoulder, making it a good day.

  80. Jenna on April 10th, 2008 5:46 pm

    TGIT!

2 favorites, both from Gay Witch Hunt:

Dwight’s smirk when Michael tells him that he could see Angela being a lesbian.

Michael embracing (and then kissing) Oscar. Oscar’s face is priceless.

  81. Michael on April 10th, 2008 6:05 pm

Although I watch “The Office” mainly for the brilliant moments of comedy and the touching relationships between the characters, my favorite moment includes neither of these elements. After watching the hell Michael was put through in “Halloween”, not only at the prospect of being disliked by his co-workers but by having to fire a member of his family, that last scene where he’s waiting alone for trick-or-treaters in his condo really affected me. I had always considered Michael a lovable goof who sometimes had trouble relating to others, but this scene perfectly emphasized how empty his life was outside of work and how deeply it must have hurt when he lost someone important once again. This was the moment I realized “The Office” meant more to me than a regular TV show and I applaud the actors, writers, and everyone involved in creating this wonderful episode.

  82. Debby on April 10th, 2008 6:31 pm

    So many moments –
    1. The spray bottle in “The Injury” –
    2. All the previously mentioned JAM moments –

    And
    3. Ryan in “Valentine’s Day” bemoaning the fact that he hooked up with Kelly on Feb. 13. Great visual the way he messes up his hair.
    4. Darrell telling Kelly to access her “uncrazy” side (not sure which episode it was this season) – Kelly does bring out greatness in her men!

    Love this show!

  83. Trisha on April 10th, 2008 6:34 pm

My favorite moment from The Office is in the episode “Drug Testing” when Jim has not been able to talk to Pam all day because of jinx, and when he finally can talk again he looks at Pam with the biggest smile and says “Hi.” It just makes me melt.

  84. TheHandStrikesAndGivesAFlower on April 10th, 2008 6:40 pm

I have S1-S3, but I love your idea of sharing it with friends. I’d do just that.

    Tie between two moments:

The first episode I watched was Conflict Resolution. I thought it was funny, but once Jim said “That was a tough one. I had to keep putting nickels in his handset to get him used to the weight, and then I took them all out,” I was hooked. After that show, I went everywhere (That’s where I discovered my two favorite fansites: Give Me My Remote and Office Tally!!!) to find out everything about this show. Fortunately, I had loyal friends (who shared their season 1 DVD with me) who got me updated JUST IN TIME for Casino Night.

Speaking of Casino Night, that has so many memories for me. I’d been having girl troubles, and wouldn’t you know it, the whole Jim/Pam thing was exactly what I was going through. Right during Casino Night, it read my mind. Ironically, I bought the S2 DVD that summer and, when I watched The Secret, I was one week away from telling this girl my true feelings for her (because she had already found out).

I love how The Office relates to my life. It’s AMAZING beyond what words can describe.

Oh, and I feel for you having to read all of these long entries. I know I didn’t help. Good luck deciding!

  85. Alyson on April 10th, 2008 6:49 pm

My favorite moment has to be Jim impersonating Dwight, and then Dwight getting back at him by impersonating Jim.

Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica. There’s nothing better.

  86. Nadine on April 10th, 2008 7:02 pm

Omigod, waaayy too many to choose from, buttt…

I’m going to have to say the revolutionary 27 seconds of silence between Jim and Pam on the boat in “Booze Cruise”.

    Absolutely genius.
(Not to mention amazing and completely heart-wrenching!)

  87. Rayanna on April 10th, 2008 7:29 pm

    The Boss of Dancing!

  88. BrokenBrain on April 10th, 2008 7:30 pm

So many moments: 27 seconds of silence, Casino night, Dundies, Jim impersonating Dwight, Dwight impersonating Jim. Can’t wait for tonight.

  89. Rayanna on April 10th, 2008 7:31 pm

The Boss of Dancing from “Booze Cruise”!

  90. Kurt on April 10th, 2008 7:48 pm

My favorite moment is from Drug Testing when Dwight is talking to Jim about the drugs and Jim turns the whole thing around on Dwight. Jim – “No thats not what you said when I came in here, you said I would be conducting the interview, now how much pot did you smoke!” and then Dwight gives that scared look.

  91. SHANNON on April 10th, 2008 8:24 pm

    Favorite “Office” moment…
after Jim asks Pam to dinner in “The Job” and she looks at the camera and asks “what was the question?” THe look on her face was absolutely priceless… absolute favorite.

  92. BuyMeACoke on April 10th, 2008 9:57 pm

I have to go along with a lot of others. My favorite has always been the scene in the van in “The Injury” I was laughing so hard every time Jim squirted Dwight in the face, but when he turned it on Michael I just lost it!

  93. Zoe on April 10th, 2008 10:31 pm

The cold open and tag from “Women’s Appreciation”. Simply, brilliant.

  94. Laura on April 10th, 2008 11:22 pm

“I miss him so much. I cry myself to sleep, Jim. False! I do not miss him”

  95. tessahesa on April 10th, 2008 11:50 pm

I think the look on Pam’s face after Jim says “…it’s a date” is one of the best moments I have ever seen on TV, but that has already been said.

To pick a number 1a, I think it is when Jim asks how much Dwight’s balance ball cost him, then weighs it for a moment (’cause he is going to do something a little bit evil, but he will pay it back), flips the scissors, and takes it down. The camera switch to actually see Dwight falling in relation to his desk is dawesome.

  96. Erica on April 11th, 2008 12:31 am

I think I have to go with Pam’s talking head in “The Injury” that culminates in “oh my God Dwight’s kind of my friend.”

I just had one of those moments, so my being able to relate to Pam trumps her coal-walk speech, and Kelly’s smack-talking, and the Office Olympics doves, and maybe even sometimes The Kiss.

  97. Adri on April 11th, 2008 12:33 am

Huge fan of the office. I enjoyed so much the new episode.

The most hilarious thing for me is when dwight and jim imitate each other.. I just can’t help lauphing ou loud everytime i see it..

  98. Kaye on April 11th, 2008 2:09 am

My favorite part (if I could only choose one) has to be on “The Injury” when Dwight is being checked by the doctor and he uses Michael’s “that’s what she said” joke. Fantastic looks on all the character’s faces.

  99. Mariel on April 11th, 2008 2:49 am

hands down the moment in “The Injury” when Dwight crashes his car going to pick up Michael. He pukes and suffers a concusion but still manages to show his undying love for Michael.

    Brilliant

  100. JC on April 11th, 2008 10:05 am

I have so many favorite moments, but the one that always makes me laugh out loud is when Kelly lies to Ryan and tells him she’s pregnant. Cut to the next scene; she’s sitting in front of the camera smiling and she says, “I got a date!” like a junior high schooler or something.

  101. Beesly on April 11th, 2008 10:53 am

Beesly’s Favorites from The Dinner Party (April 10th):

    “Bonfire……James Bonfire” Michael

“Jan has space issues.” Michael sleeps on a bench! “See, he fits perfectly.” Jan

“Sometimes I will just stand here and watch tv for hours.” Michael

“If you ever need any help, I’m just a phone call away.” Michael “I bet you are – Jan.”

THREE HOURS until dinner! “When in Rome.” Michael

“I like wine with an ‘oaky afterbirth'” Michael

Whats up with Angela dogging Pam out? She and Jan can shove it!

“Honey that door was extremley clean and it looked visible” Michael

(Michael brings out the St. Paulis Girl sign!)

“I’ll be your first customer” Michael “You’re hardly my first” Jan “THATS WHAT SHE SAID” Michael

“Good luck paying me back on your ZERO dollars a year salary plus benefits babe!” Jan

    (POLICE ARRIVE)

“Oh yes there was screaming. My girlfriend through a Dundie at my plasma.” Michael

“My apartments on fire, … flooded” Jim

…. and exit the dinner guests.

(I found it very annoying that NBC said stay tuned for more of The Office only to find out it was over)

  102. Sara W. on April 11th, 2008 12:36 pm

Hey! Sara W. That’s me! Thanks for the dedication that’s really cool!

I love Pam being the Secret Assistant to the Regional Manager.

A favorite specific Office moment for me is a deleted scene from The Hot Girl where Jim asks Dwight for his stapler, and Dwight tells him, “It’s in my purse.”

  103. Kurt on April 11th, 2008 8:46 pm

    The faxes from Future Dwight.

  104. laura on April 12th, 2008 3:33 pm

Casino Night has been mentioned so many times, but every time I watch Jim say “I’m in love with you” I get chills. EVERY TIME! But here are two moments not mentioned so far that always crack me up:

    1. Andy singing anything, but specifically the Ainbow-ray onnection-cay…and Jim’s face at the end!

    2. Kevin Malone at the beginning of Gay Witch Hunt during his talking head after he finds out Oscar is gay…the giggleing! Kevin Malone giggling NEVER EVER FAILS to make me giggle, too. SO FUNNY!

  105. Casey on April 12th, 2008 3:35 pm

My favorite moment is definitely the cold open where Jim sends Dwight the fax from future Dwight…and Dwight tackling Stanley with the coffee. It showed how much Jim still affected the scranton branch even when he wasn’t there.

  106. Madge on April 13th, 2008 4:45 pm

My favorite moment is a classic one when Jim puts everything on Dwight’s desk in the vending machine, Pam walks in and buys his pencil cup, and then Jim gives Dwight a bag of change to get everything out. Hilarious – I laugh every time I watch it.

I have another favorite: in Safety Training, when everyone is gathered around Ryan and Kelly and placing bets on Kelly explaining how to use Netflix. She says, “it’s so easy, Ryan. Do you really not know how Netflix works?
Ryan: I guess I forgot. [kisses Kelly and gathers up all the money]
    Kelly: You’re such a ditz.

I love the Office! Soooo many moments to choose from!

  107. KylaRae on April 13th, 2008 6:56 pm

i could pick a dozen ‘funniest’ moments, and there are no words for how amazing the “booze cruise”, “casino night”, and “the job” JAM moments were….but to pick my favourite office moment, i would have to choose the end of “The carpet” when Jim checks his messages after being banished to the annex for the day….it was that episode that made me realize how much i loved the show, it just made their relationship seem soo real!!

“Hey, what’s that word we made up when you have a thing stuck in your shoe? Anyway, I have a thing stuck in my shoe.

  108. of the tsavo lions on February 26th, 2010 9:59 am

just end it alreadly since pam and jim are gonna have their baby theres no
real reason to keep it going and i think it’ll be really ridicoulus if they make
    a seventh season.

dont like jan shes too serious and boring why dont they just get rid of her?

im not telling you guys who i like.
