What’s going on here people? At least my boys David Cook and Jason Castro were safe. As were Brooke White, David Archuleta, and believe it or not also safe was Kristy Lee Cook. I kid you not.
With all those contestants safe the bottom three left were Michael Johns, Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado.
Everyone and their mother (and by their mother I mean TiVo stats) predicted Syesha was going home tonight. But did she? Find out….after the break.
Nope, Syesha Mercado was safe. But sadly the same could not be said for Michael Johns who was eliminated from AMERICAN IDOL. I was stunned. He was stunned. Seacrest was stunned. Well just about everyone was stunned. Not Kristy Lee Cook though - she and Beelzebub had this planned long ago.
Sad to see a talent like Michael go this early. I guess he never really connected with the voting audience despite his obvious talent. At least he went out well. His final performance of “Dream On” was fantastic.

Have you heard the studio version David Cook did of “Innocent?” I liked it a lot more than the performance!

I was so shocked, my jaw dropped. I voted 10 times for him too… This really put a damper on my night because The Office was on right after American Idol. It was kinda hard to enjoy the return of The Office after watching Michael Johns get voted out.
Damn you Kristy Lee Cook…

Sabrina, I also found it put a damper on The Office! I’m not sure I can keep watching Idol because he was my favorite guy (okay, I’ll still watch…). But, Kristy Lee, Sayesha, Carly and Jason all should have been voted off before Michael. I’m really upset about this, which leads me to believe I need to get a life.
This was wrong, wrong, wrong (ooh, I can hear him singing that line from last week’s song and it makes it all better).

man- that is nuts- I can’t say he was my favorite, but he was way better than Sayesha, and Jason. I’m still wondering how cookie cutter almost bimbo Kristy Lee Cook can still be on the show- I wouldn’t have put her even in the top 50! Sad to see a good voice gone….

I am so upset!!! I ended up watching AI after The Office, so I did get to enjoy The Office (it was awesome!), but now my good mood is totally ruined!

Does anyone else think Kristy Lee Cook is this season’s Antonella Barba?
Shes talented, but WAY out of her league competing with the rest of the idols, but seems to be getting voted through based on the length of her legs and the shinyness of her hair.
Maybe I’m being too mean…

I missed the elimination due to 30 Rock/getting ready to watch The Office, so when I watched my recording of AI, I was so shocked! Even though he wasn’t my personal #1 favorite, I definitely thought Michael deserved to be in the top 3 or 4 at least! He did give a great final performance - but I’m sure he’ll still find success in the industry; he’s incredibly talented. Fortunately (or sometimes unfortunately! ;)) you don’t have to actually become the American Idol to have a career in the music biz.

I was stunned as well. It was not his time to go. Even though Michael was pretty great…sorry, he’s not better than Jason Castro.
I thought what Ryan did was incredibly mean. Get the guys hopes up on thinking there was a chance he could stay and then stomp on him! Bad form, Ryan.

I was completely shocked. I thought Michael had been picking up momentum the past few weeks, but I guess I was wrong or it was with the wrong demographic (the one that doesn’t vote that much.) I did feel his high scream at the end of the song on Tuesday was a little strange for him, although I think that is how it was originally done. He didn’t do that last night, and I thought it was much better. Sure will miss his singing on the show.

I just read on another site that Michael was going to do what he called a “cool, bluesy version” of Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love” next week. Now I’m even more bummed. That’s the ONLY Mariah song I’ve ever liked and it would have suited his sexy voice to a tee. What the flip was America thinking?!?!

I was SHOCKED!!
They did it in such a cruel way too… saying “last year, we didn’t eliminate anyone this week.” It gave everyone false hope! It was so rude!
Can someone tell me how Kristy Lee is still on the show? I swear that I have not heard of ONE fan of hers. Anywhere. It’s incredible to me that she not only is still here, but she wasn’t even in the bottom?! Kristy fans, WHERE ARE YOU?? I’m so confused.
& on a side note, I agree with post #2 about David Cook’s iTunes single… it’s incredible! So much better than his performance!! I’m definitely pushing for him to win. I loooove Jason too!
& PS I LOVED THE OFFICE! I’m thrilled my favorite show is back

I was extremely annoyed w/ the results! Michael was one of my favorites on the show (next to David Cook, Archuleta, and Carly). So much talent! I adore you, GMMR, but i think Jason needs to be kicked off of there quick, right after Kristy Lee Cook. I really don’t understand why those two are still on the show? I don’t think they’re that great at all, and were nothing compared to the talent that is currently on there. I was really hoping that the final four would be Michael and my other three favorites. In my opinion, they have the greatest amount of talent. I think everyone knew that this bottom three was wrong and that Kristy should have been kicked off and not the talented Micheal Johns (you could see it on all of their faces). And i agree w/ juliagulia that they were a little bit rude by getting everyone’s hopes up about Michael not really being kicked off since they didn’t kick anyone off last season. So jacked and kind of low. I’m annoyed.
