YOU Cast GREY’S ANATOMY!!!

June 13, 2007 by

In the season finale of GREY’S ANATOMY we find out that there’s a new crop of interns on their way into Seattle Grace. We’ve already met Lexi Grey but her fellow first years were hardly seen. Let’s see if we can’t help out Shonda Rhimes in the casting of the new interns.

Who do you think should be in the running for a Seattle Grace newbie? Remember…if we want GREY’S ANATOMY back on track next season, we need some fresh blood that can actually hold their own against the rest of the cast and with Shonda’s dialogue. In other words, we need actors…and good ones (and it certainly doesn’t hurt if they’re hot).

I’ll throw a few out there to get us started and then it’s all you…

Jason Dohring and Joshua Jackson

Jason Dohring (formerly on Veronica Mars) & Joshua Jackson (formerly of Dawson’s Creek)
Yes, I know both of these men happen to be near the top of my TV boyfriend list, but that’s not why they make the cut…seriously. I think both Jason and Josh have a strong sensibility about them. They can handle the drama and the sly comedic styling that is necessary for Grey’s. Grey’s writers are already on record as saying they are big Veronica Mars fans. Half the cast has already guested as patients in Seattle Grace. And as for Josh, well I’m bewildered everyday as to how he hasn’t landed himself another big TV gig. He’s amazing!

Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood (formerly of Once & Again)
I’m not sure what Evan Rachel Wood is up to these days. The only time I ever see Wood is when she’s snapped by the ‘razi alongside her boyfriend Marilyn Manson. I think it’s about time we get Evan back on TV. Yes, she’s is probably too young to be an intern, but I think she could pull it off. She’s a powerhouse of an actress as she proved at a young age on Once & Again, and then later in the movie Thirteen. She’s a little spitfire and she’d fit in well on Grey’s.

Autumn Reeser

Autumn Reeser (formerly of The OC)
I’m not sure if it’s Autumn Reeser I’d like to see on Grey’s, or if it’s her former alter ego Taylor Townsend, but I’d be fine with either. As she showed on The OC, Autumn has the chops to pull off sultry, sexy yet smart – something perfect for a young doctor. She would be great. But then again, so would Taylor Townsend. Her upbeat, annoyingly shiny outlook on life would be a perfect fodder for the cynicism of Grey’s. Couple that with her obvious sex appeal and I think you’d have something special.

…ok your turn!!

I think that Liza Weil (Paris Gellar of Gilmore Girls) would be a great intern! Maybe it’s just that we’ve been watching her pre-med aspirations for 4 years now on GG, but I definitely think that she has what it takes. We know Liza has the acting chops to hold her own on this show, and I think she’d be a great addition.

Oh, along with Dohring can we consider Michael Muhney?

“Once and Again” was one of the best TV shows of the past decade, and Evan Rachel Wood was consistently excellent in a stellar cast. Her performance in the episode “Food for Thought”, where her character Jessie was forced by her parents to see a shrink because of her anorexia, still remains one of the most emotionally shattering performances I have seen. Thanks, GMMR, for giving props to this great actress! I can’t say “Grey’s” falls in my watershed of must-see shows, but it would be great to see Evan Rachel Wood back on a TV show again.

I agree with Jason Dohring. And I agree with Chelsea about Liza Weil. I think Liza would be FANTASTIC as a young doctor spouting out Shonda Rhimes’ dialogue. But I would rather see her as an intern on “Private Practice” for a couple of reasons. One, the quality of Grey’s has been declining recently (although Liza would help turn that around).

The main reason I’d love to see her on Private Practice would be so we can see her on the same show as her husband, Paul Adelstein. Purely selfish reasons, really. I’d love to see them playing each other’s romantic interest. 🙂

    Other suggestions:
Tom Everett Scott (I’d love to see him on TV again, and he’s just awesome. I think he would make a perfect addition to Grey’s)
Matt Czuchry (Logan from GG), Greg Grunberg (If he’s going to be killed off Heroes)

  6. Jenny on June 13th, 2007 1:25 pm

I’m loving the suggestions! I was thinking that Sarah Lancaster might be good? She’s recently from What About Brian….and has also been on Dawson’s Creek and Scrubs…and previous dated Jeffrey Dean Morgan! So she’s got some cred.

But sorry, I’m not ready to see Jason Dohring as anybody else but Logan right now. 🙁

I’m sure not many people know this person, but it’d be cool to see Alicia Leigh Willis on there. Until about a year ago she was on General Hospital playing the character Courtney. She was also on a few episodes of Seventh Heaven a few years ago. Here’s the link for her on imdb if anyone is interested- http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0932265/

Jenny – Good call. Sarah Lancaster will be back on TV in the Fall. She’s on one of my favorite new Fall shows, “Chuck”

  9. Becky on June 13th, 2007 1:46 pm

I wanted to add an addition of a guest star/recurring character. How about Sean Gunn (Kirk from GG) as a patient? Recurring over a couple of episodes? That might help bring back the comedy and get rid of the melodrama slant. I don’t know about making him an intern, but a nurse or a patient would be awesome.

am I the only one who thinks the cast was WAY too big last season, even before Kate & Isaiah left, and the last thing they need is MORE people?? I mean, we barely see some characters in the episodes as it is, the last thing, IMO, we need are a whole bunch of other people we don’t even know taking screen time away from characters we have grown to love in the last 3 seasons. Thats my opinion, though. Even tho I love Jason & Autumn.

I too think Liza Weils would be great, as long as she has a little Paris in her. Grey’s definitely needs some strong women on this show who don’t go all schoopy and weak willed around men. Or how about Eliza Dushku(formerly Faith of Buffy’s)? She doesn’t have to go around throwing people through plate glass or anything, but just be generally kick-a*s.

  13. jenintx on June 13th, 2007 4:35 pm

Shari, I think that’s a fair enough critisism, but I’m not sure that is the problem w/ Grey’s. Big cast can still mean compelling storylines( See Friday Night Lights), but you have to be able to juggle them properly, and spread the love around, instead of taking to much screentime on a few characters (Hello, Gizzie, I’ma looking at you). But that’s just my opinion 🙂

  14. Holly on June 13th, 2007 5:06 pm

I personally think Jason Dohring and Josh Jackson are TOO GOOD to be on Greys. Thats right, I said it. Back in the day, the show was a healthy drama, and now it is terminally soap opera-esque. If I wanted to watch a show that simply ran in circles, with unimaginative, unoriginal plot lines, I’d tune into Days of Our Lives. This thing is the NBA of prime time television- its players are over paid and underqualified. The only reason people watch anymore is because the things a meat market. So sorry, I dont think we should add any more beef, especially those that are beloved from other, better, shows that are now canceled because they were ‘too smart’ for the common viewer, who, lets face it, are ruining the TV industry.

  15. Jen on June 13th, 2007 5:23 pm

oooooo!!! Josh Jackson, hands down YES!

  16. Madelyne on June 13th, 2007 5:53 pm

Jason Dorhing on Grey’s is about the most brilliant thing I’ve heard. That is the calibur of actor they need to add to the show. He’d bring it and I’d love to see him on my TV screen in the fall.

If they did cast Jason, I’d give Grey’s a huge pass for this season and expect the best for next season.

    Such a good casting idea!

I think that Nathan Fillion from Firefly would be a great cast addition, not to mention, easy on the eyes. 🙂

  20. sim on June 13th, 2007 9:26 pm

All I know is I hope that Jason Dohring is on something SOON! I normally don’t dream of celebrities, but last night he made an appearance.
I agree with Holly, Jason is too good for Greys.

  21. Janet on June 13th, 2007 9:56 pm

As much as I’d love to see Josh on tv every week, I don’t think Grey’s would be his thing. He’s going to be the new Fletch in Fletch Won, which starts filming in the fall. So my Josh will be sticking with the movies for now……..Ok what was the question? When I start talking Josh my brain just goes blank..

  22. tonya on June 13th, 2007 11:03 pm

I’d love to see Jason Dohring or Josh Jackson on my tv screen – but I agree with Jenny when she said she wasn’t ready to see Jason as anyone but Logan, as least for a little bit.

As for who I would LOVE to see on Grey’s as an intern(or even just on my tv screen again!): Amy Acker and/or J. August Richards (aka Fred & Gunn from Angel), Alona Tal (Meg from Veronica Mars or Jo from Supernatural), Caroline Dhavernas (Jaye from Wonderfalls)…I’m sure I could think of loads more.

  23. Wendyd on June 14th, 2007 1:16 am

Nice suggestion on Evan Rachel Wood, but I don’t think we’ll be seeing her on the small screen again anytime soon. She actually has quite an impressive film career going on at the moment with five new films coming out between now and 2008. She was also recently seen in “Running With Scissors,” “Down In The Valley” with Ed Norton and “King of California” with Michael Douglas. So she actually does have more going on than her role as Marilyn Manson’s sidekick. 🙂

  24. Sus on June 14th, 2007 12:48 pm

I would love to see Jason Dohring on my tv screen 24/7 but I’m not positive Grey’s is the show for him. I’d be ecstatic if he were cast, but I’m just not sure the show is right for him. I think I’m feeling the same way as some of you have said…I don’t know if I’m ready for him to be anyone besides Logan for a little while.

You know who I think would be great on Grey’s…Christopher Gorham (but only if he could still do Ugly Betty, of course). I’ve been watching the dvd’s of Popular this week and he’s just so amazing. And you know, either of the two female leads would be great on the show as well. I have no idea if any of them are the right age for interns, though. They could make it work.

Ooh, I know! Jason Ritter! He’d be faaaabulous! And since my beloved show The Class was CRUELLY ripped from my tv screen, he should be free! He would definitely bring the comedy back to the show.

Okay, this is the longest comment ever. But if I think of more, I’m coming back. 😉

  25. Sus on June 14th, 2007 9:42 pm

I forgot to put in my whole-hearted support of Liza Weil before. I need her on my tv screen.

  26. stacy owens on June 16th, 2007 10:28 pm

Josh is just amazing! He would add a unique value to any project he was offered. I’d prefer to see him on the BIG screen but wouldn’t mind finding him on my TV once again. When is this guy going to get the recognition he deserves? Hollywood needs to get off their @#! and give this guy the opportunity to shine!
