They totally cut out the part of the video where right after Mandy talks about how she isn’t ready for marriage, John jokes and says that he is and he’s looking. Then he tells the ladies to contact him at ET. lol

Ew, I kind of hate them because they’re so damn cute together.

  3. proudgirl on June 16th, 2006 11:50 pm

Eh, I’m sorry, but I can’t get onboard with this pairing. John Krasinski deserves a more talented costar. And the fact that after this movie, he’ll become the target of obsessed, squealy, IQ-deficient teenage fangirls (try flashing a picture of Shane West or Orlando Bloom at a crowd of 12-17 yr-olds and you’ll know what I mean) is too much for me to handle. I’m going to miss the intellectual discussions about his talent and charm. I’m saying goodbye now, because a year from now, all we’ll ever hear of JK is how KYOOTE he is. ::shudder::

sadly, I have to agree. but we all know he’s better than that. we can say we were his fans from the beginning. this seems like it might be a little too main stream for him, but who am I to say what movies he should be in? I’d love to see him in more indie drama type movies, but as long as I’m seeing more of him I’ll be happy.

I read at the end of that article that Eric Christian Olsen is in that as well…is that the dude that plays Sully on The Loop? because I loooove him. “dude, I ate a light bulb. 40 watts in my belly!”

I don’t think it’s as simple as that for me. If this movie flies (or even if it doesn’t, seeing as these alpha females I’m talking about will basically eat up anything mainstream media dishes out), torrents of said females will probably tune in to “The Office” just to catch a glimpse of “hottie John.” And certainly, it’s not up to me or anyone else to judge his career choices, but I don’t want squealy fangirls tuning in to “The Office” just to check him out. It’s disconcerting and downright sacreligious, and maybe it’s selfish (and impractical) of me to want John to veer away from mainstream films that can lead to said results, but I have a right to be peeved. I feel we’ve earned the right to be proud of our show and not want it loved for the “teenage heartthrob” factor.

I ditto everything that has been said. But not so much as him making mainstream films. I think seeing John in a romantic comedy is great, but i can understand everyone’s concerns. I’m happy that he’s playing in a major film so that those who aren’t exposed to John (like us Office fans) will get to see just how talented he is, plus it furthers his career and what actor doesn’t want that. Personally, i’d rather see John in a comedy than in a drama (although i’m sure he’d pull it off, no problem). I totally agree w/ the concern of fangirls watching The Office merely to see John. That show is just so brilliant and to know that people truly wouldn’t appreciate it for that reason would make me sad. I think the reason we’re all a little disappointed/upset/etc. is because we feel like we own The Office. I mean, in the sense that we’ve come to love these characters and this show so much that we become territorial of it, for whatever various reason that may be, and when people don’t appreciate the show for what it truly is (hence, the fangirls), it’s an insult.

Oh, and i understand what you guys mean about him playing along side Mandy Moore. She’s not a favorite of mine, but honestly, would you be happy w/ anyone else? I mean, this is John Krasinski. Who would you rather see him act w/ in a romantic comedy? I mean, other than Jenna Fischer…for some reason them acting together would just be so perfect for a romantic comedy, but then i wouldn’t be able to separate them from their Jim and Pam characters….but that’s another story…

  7. Kris on June 17th, 2006 3:28 am

Oh, MrsData, where did you see that other part of the clip?

  8. MrsData on June 17th, 2006 9:56 am

Kris, I watched Entertainment Tonight that very night not knowing that this footage was going to be on. I don’t understand why they cut it out…it was really cute and funny, just like John.

I totally agree with everyone else, let’s all enjoy the quiet before the teeny bopper storm lol.

  9. GeekCheek on June 17th, 2006 2:22 pm

Mandy: “If nothing else, this movie shows me I’m very young and nowhere near thinking about this stuff yet,” Mandy says with a laugh. “I think doing a film where you have a mock wedding kind of gets it out of your system,” she jokes.

Hmmm . . . could this have something to do with recent break up w/ fiance Zach braff??

I’ve never been able to get on the Mandy Moore band wagon–I think that I have the vision of a very skinny 16 y/o nymphette singing “Candy” ingrained in my mind. I mean we have our John of a thousand faces vs. Mandy of a thousand ways of lip biting–when I bite my lip like this, it means I’m upset, but when I do it this way it meand I’m confused. Blech. Though I did love it when she ran into the 50 foot Jesus in “Saved.”

But I agree, our John deserves better.

  10. Kris on June 17th, 2006 3:03 pm

Dang, i wish i got to see that clip in its entirety, MrsData! Was there much else they cut out from that clip?

Anyway, i agree, GeekCheek, that John deserves to act w/ someone more on his caliber in the sense of facial expressions and wit, and not someone who is there for her cuteness (and she can pull off the whole innocent thing real well, too). But i’m going to see the movie anyways, and i’m sure it will be good, despite my feelings towards Moore. I mean, seeing John work w/ Williams is going to be great! I am really excited about this movie, nonetheless. However, i’m greatful that he has that stellar cast of The Office to go back to. They just match up more w/ his wit.

  11. MrsData on June 17th, 2006 4:07 pm

    Kris,

Nope, John’s part at the end was only thing that they cut out….boo! lol

GeekCheek, I was thinking that too and when they showed the clip on ET, Mary Hart said that Mandy was single basically confirming that her and Zach are over. If it is true, then wow, that’s exactly the reason why her character on Scrubs was dumped by JD aka Zach Braff. I think in some cases, an age difference does matter in a relationship.

I’m not a fan of Mandy. Ever since she came onto the scene I always thought her cutesy act was a bit annoying. And I didn’t like her reaction when her cosmopolitan cover came out with “orgasms unlimited” by her head lol First off, this is COSMO, they’re known for their salacious covers and sex articles. She complained that her parents have framed every magazine cover, so why would she choose to do an article for a women’s magazine that is known to have provocative titles on their cover? Although it was hilarious that on that same cover right by her hip area there was a title that said, “8 New Places to Have Sex”

Anyway, as actress she is limited but if I were to compare her to her pop counterparts she is the best..sadly lol This is also the reason why she’s not concentrated on her music anymore. Sure, she said that she’s working on a new album but every month it seems like I read or hear that she has signed up for a new movie.

I’m still going to check this one out, I love John and Robin.

  12. Sarah on June 17th, 2006 5:34 pm

Okay I’d like to take back my comment which is basically the fangirl in me having a gut reaction to how cute John is. I completely agree with what you all are saying. For as much success as I want everyone on The Office to have, it is sort of disconcerting to know that once the mainstream catches wind of how talented they are (or in the case of John how “cuuuuuuuuuuuute!!!111” he is), I feel like that will take away from us fans who’ve known since the beginning of the show and don’t need a silly romantic comedy to show us that.

You guys should bring this topic to the forums 🙂

Why can’t everyone just be happy for John. I know I want to see him more stuff. I saw him in Jarhead the other day and flipped out.

  15. Sarah on January 27th, 2007 9:30 am

Why is everyone picking on poor Mandy? Sure, John is ADORABLE,but i sort of think Mandy is an excellent actress. Especially in movies such as A walk to remember, saved, american dreams, try seventeen etc. They are a cute couple….I am definetely gonna watch this movie, people. Its definitely gonna be fantastic. I am dying to see it because of its cast.

  16. Christina on April 17th, 2007 2:03 pm

I agree with Sarah. I think Mandy is a good actress, too. And I have to admit that John is kinda cute 🙂

I know..why is everyone picking on mandy? she’s a tremendous actress and she’s not what you guys all think. You think she’s a teenybopper, but she’s not and has proven that. I think her and John make a cute couple and deserving for each other. I definately can’t wait to see License to Wed. Its a great opportunity for John to gain more variety of fans.

  20. Diosa on April 5th, 2008 2:43 am

Okay. Mandy and John has agood chemistry that is why they picked the both of the to be in the movie. Mandy is a huge fan of John, she watches the office. Mandy is very talented. Yup, I have to admit I’m a little jelous because she is with John but we can’t do anything about it.

Hello! Quick question that’s entirely off topic.

Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly?
My site looks weird when viewing from my apple iphone.
I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to resolve this issue.
If you have any suggestions, please share.
