Um…what about the other categories? Best Supporting Actors? I thought all of the acting categories were going to be announced today. WTF? And NO Lauren Graham or Kristen Bell. Come on. Of course, I am happy for The Office and Steve Carell. Oh, and Kevin James??? Didn’t see that one coming – AT ALL!!! A few other shockers. No Lost, or Desperate Housewives (not that I’m complaining). Stockard Channing for Out of Practice? What, they can’t have an Emmy Award show without nominating this woman for something. I find it a bit suspect.

Guys, please your comments on all the craziness of this morning. I LOVE to hear what you all have to say. I’m going to be back in a little bit with more of my thoughts. But for right now, I have to go and spend some time with my shrine to John Krasinski. My boy didn’t get nominated (this year), but he’s a good person, and god dammit people like him.

UPDATE: Feel free to continue the Emmy debates in the GMMR Forums. I just created a new thread just for the snubs and surprises. Click here for all the Emmy talk.

Thanks, GMMR! I’m stuck at work so I really appreciate it. Fingers crossed for lots of J. Kras and Office love.

  2. Sus on July 6th, 2006 8:18 am

    *rubs hands together evilly* Muahahahaha!

  4. Sus on July 6th, 2006 8:45 am

Robbed! Robbed I say! Poor Lauren and Kristen and their respective shows.

All this hype and then it wasn’t much different from years past.

At least The Office got in there.

  5. Chris Evans on July 6th, 2006 8:46 am

    C’mon c’mon

    Marcia Cross pleease

  6. Sus on July 6th, 2006 8:46 am

Also…SO happy about House and Mariska Hargitay.

  7. Kuuddo on July 6th, 2006 8:46 am

This is such a joke! I hope the press will tear those voters apart!!!

  8. Chris Evans on July 6th, 2006 8:47 am

    WHAT THE HELL?!

    NO LAUREN GRAHAM???

  9. Sarah on July 6th, 2006 8:47 am

Wow, looks like the new voting system didn’t work in Lauren Graham’s favor. She was robbed!

Also can’t believe Lost didn’t get nominated for Best Drama!

  10. Becky on July 6th, 2006 8:47 am

Ah, Denis Leary! No Lost! No Housewives!

Where do we find supporting? What about my beloved J Kras?

  11. Chris Evans on July 6th, 2006 8:48 am

    This is absolutely RIDICULOUS.

You put stupid ass Jane K. in there and no Marcia Cross??

    No Lauren Graham?

    OMG I’M GONNA GO CRAZY

  12. Kuuddo on July 6th, 2006 8:52 am

Seriously hope that the journalists will drop a bunch of verbal bombs on the guys…that´s just absolutely impossible not to nominate Lauren Graham. Arghhh!

  13. mg on July 6th, 2006 8:55 am

I’m very happy LOST didn’t make it…and I’m a devoted fan. Maybe this will wake up the writers to have actual things happen and cut the shit with backstories that last 3 episodes.

And the Sopranos was horrendous this season. It disappointed me so much. The Vito is gay thing just didn’t work out.

And I think this is the year Survivor wins best reality show.

  14. Sus on July 6th, 2006 8:58 am

and Christopher Meloni!!! I just caught that. 😀

  15. Queen TV on July 6th, 2006 8:58 am

Yay for Denis Leary! I bet this is the year for Project Runway to get an Emmy. Overall good, not great but there were some surprises.

  16. Sus on July 6th, 2006 8:59 am

That Stockard Channing thing boggles my mind. It was on for what, 3 episodes???

  17. Chris Evans on July 6th, 2006 9:12 am

You have GOT to be kidding me. Alfre Woodard gets nominated for Housewives…yet Marcia Cross doesn’t?

I don’t like this new system…this entire emmy list is full of headscratchers.

  18. Sus on July 6th, 2006 9:26 am

I’m glad Kevin James got nominated. He’s such a funny actor, even though I haven’t watched the show in several seasons.

  19. Stephanie on July 6th, 2006 9:28 am

Well, I just checked out the rest of the noms at http://www.emmys.org/awards/2006pt/nominations.php

Man, so disappointed that none of the supporting cast in The Office made it. I was really thinking that our Johnny would be there. And Jenna, why wasn’t she there? She’s so awesome too.

I also do agree with the others about how some of the noms are so messed up. The whole Stockard Channing business is crazy…that show “Out Of Practice” was cancelled. How could she be nominated when the show must have been horrible? Oh well, I’m happy that The Office did get a few nods in there. Especially being nominated for Best Comedy and Steve the lead actor nomination. I can’t wait for the show, Conan’s gonna rock the house!

  20. Brian on July 6th, 2006 9:36 am

I take it the supporting actor/actress categories are still to come?

I’m psyched about Kevin James. I totally identify with Doug Heffernan, except I don’t drive a truck. And I’m not as funny. I’ll still be rooting for Carell, though, since “Queens” is on the way out.

  21. GMMR on July 6th, 2006 9:37 am

Check out the post above. The supporting categories have been added. I’m a bit surprised at kevin James. I didn’t realize he brought that much to the table.

  22. Brian on July 6th, 2006 9:40 am

Thanks. I just went back and looked more closely. Oh well.

Kevin James is the everyman’s Seinfeld. That show was my all-time favorite before Carell and Co. came along.

  23. Chris Evans on July 6th, 2006 9:43 am

Well…seeing as how this system was virtually created FOR Lauren Graham…it seems it’s pretty much failed.

Seriously, people. Malcolm In The Middle? Will & Grace?

I’m almost sick to my stomach with how much these nominations stink.

  24. TheNextKristin on July 6th, 2006 9:44 am

Okay no… this is a joke, right? Where the bleep is Lost? And what’s with the two nominations for AD? Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely happy for the Best Comedy nod (I would have gone on a violent rampage had it not happened) and I’m ecstatic that Gob got some, but that Lead Actor comedy is a joke. If Carell doesn’t take it, I am going to drop out of school and become the boss of everyone at TV.

    I am sad.

  25. mg on July 6th, 2006 9:44 am

Sandra Oh plays the same neurotic character she played on Arli$$. Jean Smart should win…wow she was good. Her and Itzen made this season for 24.

G.O.B. vs Ari? Wow. Possibly the best two characters in television with Michael Scott being a close third.

  26. Chris Evans on July 6th, 2006 9:48 am

If Jeremy Piven doesn’t win for Best Supporting Actor In A Comedy–I just might throw myself into oncoming traffic.

  27. GMMR on July 6th, 2006 9:50 am

I don’t know how anyone could beat the Pives. I’m sad for rainn and John though.

  28. mg714 on July 6th, 2006 9:54 am

The only thing that redeems the noms for me is that The Office and Steve Carell were nominated. Otherwise, I can’t believe that Lost got nothing in the main categories and that Lauren Graham was snubbed yet again over Stockard Channing! She’s a good actress, but I thought her show wasn’t any good? Of the comedy actress noms, only Julia Louis-Dryfuss’s show is going to be back next year!

I’m also sad that there were no other acting noms for The Office and that no one from Prison Break got into the noms. I am happy that Arrested Development and Will Arnet were recognized, but where are Jason Bateman, Zach Braff? How did Kevin James sneak in there? And what is the fascination with 2 and 1/2 men? I’ve only seen it a few times, and it’s not so great really… so much to be upset about and only a few good things.

  29. Jo on July 6th, 2006 11:38 am

*sigh* I had hopes for the new system. But nominating Stockard Channing? Do these people actually watch TV? Yeah, nothing has changed.

Yay for AD, Will Arnet and The Office.

  31. Eden on July 6th, 2006 12:40 pm

HOW IS IT THAT LAUREN GRAHAM DIDN’T MANAGE TO GET A NOMINATION… AGAIN?!?!

I was so sure that this year we would have JUSTICE!

And what’s up with Charlize Theron not getting a nomination for “Arrested”?

    Uugh!

  32. mg714 on July 6th, 2006 12:48 pm

Just saw that Will & Grace got the most noms for a comedy series (10). The new system did not work, in my opinion. Lauren Graham should have been nominated, even though GG was not as good as last year. Her “worst” performance is leaps and bounds above any of the performances that were nominated in the Lead Comedy Actress category.

  33. Kris on July 6th, 2006 2:11 pm

I am super excited that The Office got some nominations! However, i’m also pissed that John, Rainn, or Jenna didn’t get any of the supporting nominations. That sucks. I agree w/ some of the above comments. Half the shows that have been nominated suck ass! These shows are terrible, and yet they’re nominated. I just don’t understand. Oh, but i am glad about Arrested Development. Woot. I’ll just have to watch the Emmys (b/c of The Office). But if The Office doesn’t win for every category it’s in….i am going to be one mad mutha.

  34. John D'arc on July 6th, 2006 2:30 pm

    No John Krasinski? Injustice!

  35. GMMR on July 6th, 2006 2:31 pm

    Ah, that’s my cooljammer….

  36. mayrei on July 6th, 2006 7:14 pm

It’s a damn shame that John Krasinski and Terry O’Quinn didn’t get nominated. They so deserved it. Yeah for The Office and Steve Carell, though!

  37. TheNextKristin on July 6th, 2006 7:16 pm

Insert more angry muttering from me here.
