Denis Leary, Lenny Clarke on the Red Sox and Mel Gibson – HYSTERICAL!!!

August 21, 2006 by

Being a die hard Red Sox fan, this is not a time for laughing. That being said, whether you are a Sox fan or not you MUST watch this hysterical clip of hometown Boston boys, and stars of Rescue Me, Denis Leary and Lenny Clarke as they take over the NESN TV broadcast of the game. Sox announcers Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo lose complete control of not only the broadcast, but their ability to breathe as they are laughing so hard. For the record, Leary & Clarke usually take over the broadcast at least once a year and it’s always friggin’ hysterical.

This time around Denis and Lenny get overly excited about certain players, and the prospect of Mel Gibson visiting good ‘ol Fenway Park. I can’t stop laughing, and I’ve watched the clip three times already.

P.S. I love any day that I can introduce incorporate Kevin Youkilis and Gabe Kapler into GMMR!!
The video might take a few minutes to load, so press play and get some actual work or studying done and them come back.

Holy crap that was great. Jerry Seinfeld has been in the Mets booth, but he was about as funny as Henry Kissinger by comparison.

Tough weekend, eh GMMR? I was rooting for your boys, but it might have helped more if I offered to pitch.

GMMR You Rock!! This just made my morning.

I loved them ragging on that anti-semetic jerk Mel Gibson (I have some other choice words, but being the nice Jewish girl that I am, I’ve decided to clean it up a bit).

My favorite line is, “I want a whole Jewish infield when Mel Gibson comes out”.

We Jews are cool and can contribute to the world of professional sports, among other things.

    That was just great. Thanks.

As a Tigers fan, I didn’t totally like. As a shiksa married to a nice Jewish Mets fan, it made me proud. Screw the Yankees!

this is off-topic, but yeah, screw the Yankees!

back on topic, sort of, the Mets are trying to get Shawn Green, then I can say screw Mel in blue and orange!

[…] Denis Leary – Probably one of the best moments of the night for me personally. Denis Leary had just finished walking the press line, and walked past us. He wasn’t being rude or anything, his publicist was just trying to usher him inside. Just as he walked by, I remember my mama’s sage advice “Use what you got girl”, and in this case I had the Boston connected. Just as he was past us I yelled….“Hey Denis, I’m from Malden” (the town I grew up in just outside of Boston). I saw Denis stop and turn to his wife and say, “Did she just say she was from Malden?” Yup I did. Holla!! Denis and his wife walked over and said “No, kidding. We are from Marshfield”. Then Denis uttered the classic line “What the hell is a girl from Malden doing on the red carpet”. Awesome!! We shared a laugh, which gave me the opportunity to ask him about Rescue Me. He said that he really wasn’t worried about offending anyone with the show, because his whole career was based on pushing the limit and offending people. Plus, by the time the stories are shot, there have been enough discussions that everyone involved feels confident in their choices. We talked briefly about the Red Sox, and I told him how hard I laughed when he took over the Red Sox booth and started on his whole Mel Gibson tirade. He laughed and said he caught some heat. But it was really funny. […]
