The Office Thursdays on GiveMeMyRemote.com

Although waiting all summer for last week’s season premiere of The Office was tough, I’m not sure it was tougher than waiting a whole week for a new episode. But a week has passed, and a new episode titled ‘The Convention’ airs tonight at 8:30/7:30c. Lots of Office gossip to share so let’s get to it. As always check this post throughout the day as there may be new goodies to share.

UPDATE:

Jenna & John Take Over CNN…
Jenna & John on CNNJohn Krasinski is answering phones but it’s not in the Stamford OR Scranton offices of Dunder Mifflin.  He’s moved all the way up to CNN. ‘Big Tuna’ and ‘The Fish’ were recently interviewed by CNN.  (The Office Visits CNN) (once on the page look for the clip on the right)

Meredith Palmer Speaks….
Meredith Palmer (Kate Flannery) Following in the footsteps of Novak, Fischer and Baumgartner, last week Kate Flannery (Meredith) kicked off her stint as the resident Office blogger over at TVGuide.com Check our Meredith’s updates every Thursday and go behind the scenes of the best comedy on TV. (Meredith’s Blog)

Jenna & John on Jim & Pam…

Jenna Fischer & John Krasinski TVGuide.com also features a new interview with our favorite on-screen lovebirds (I feel like if I say it out loud it will happen). John Krasinski & Jenna Fischer spill on where they see their characters going this season, why it won’t be smoothing sailing, and who Pam is throwin’ down with. There are some subtle spoilers, so spoiler virgins beware. (John & Jenna in TV Guide)

A Sneak Peek at ‘The Convention’…

The Office, The Convention Can’t wait until tonight to watch the show? YahooTV.com is offering a sneak peek of tonight’s episode. Watch three hilarious clips from ‘The Convention’. And I think it goes without saying but, um, spoiler alert?! (Yahoo clips – click on the NBC logo and then The Office)

The Convention Guest ESPN.com is also featuring a clip and behind the scenes footage from tonight’s show. ESPN you say? Yes. There’s a guest star tonight whose business isn’t selling paper. Let’s just say he’s more in the transportation business. (ESPN clip)

Jenna does Jay…

Jenna Fischer Get your minds out of the gutter people, I only meant that Jenna Fischer (Pam) will be appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno TONIGHT. It’s a new interview so make sure you check it out.

Battle of the Deadpan Dreamboats…

John Krasinski as Jim HalpertFametracker.com pits two of my favorite TV boyfriends up against one another to see just who has the advantange when it comes to guys who thrive off making people laugh with their deadpan humor and boy next door looks. So who in winning? John Krasinski or Topher Grace? You know who my vote goes to. (Krasinski vs. Grace)

TEAM RASHIDA….
John Krasinski & Rashida Jones Ladies & Gentleman, I have an annoucement. Just this week I have become an official member of TEAM RASHIDA. Yes, you heard me. I’ve had an awakening that has resulted in my complete and utter support of The Office’s newest cast member, Rashida Jones. I know, I know I was the one sounding the panic button when I first heard of her arrival, but I’m singing a new tune these days. If I love The Office as much as I claim to (and you all know I do), then I need to embrace Rashida and her character Karen (at least for now). It’s only fair, right? She’s one of us now.

I’ve been a little critical of Ms. Jones since news of her casting surfaced, but it’s been a tad unfair. I mean I loved her on Boston Public. But now that she’s on my favorite show I give her the cold shoulder? I mean, what has the girl done to deserve it? Ok, she may have once dated my #1 TV boyfriend (Um, J. Kras for those of you in the dark…LOL), but that just shows that she (a) has good taste in men and (b) she’s worthy enough for our boy to want to spend time with her. And yeah, her character Karen is being toted as Jim’s new ‘love interest’, but that’s not Rashida’s fault. If it wasn’t her it would be someone else…perhaps someone we would really loathe.

And on paper…well on paper Rashida Jones seem pretty frakkin’ fabulous. Here are some Rashida Jones fun facts:

  • Daughter of Quincy Jones & Peggy Lipton
  • Graduated from Harvard with degrees in Philosophy & Religion. She’s even featured on on the cover of the premiere issue of Harvard’s new alumni magazine. (click here for the pic, and here to read the article)
  • An accomplished singer (she even sang back up on three tracks on Maroon 5’s “Songs About Jane”)
  • Has worked extensively with “Peace Games” an organization that teaches children to resolve conflict without violence

…now you see why J. Kras may have been interested?

I’m not saying that you have to love her or her character, but let’s be fair and give her a shot. I mean, she is a Dunder Mifflinite…she’s one of us.

Oh No! GMMR you have swayed me! I had no idea she could sing, and as a lover of Maroon 5 that alone makes her cool enough. I guess I just need to get over my jealous issues (Got to touch John K? NOT FAIR) and accept her. I mean really, we know that no one can really stand between Jim and Pam now can they?

  2. Julie on September 28th, 2006 11:52 am

You’re just buttering her up for an interview, aren’t you?

Just kidding. Welcome to Dunder Mifflin, Rashida! Come on in, we won’t put your head on a pike as a warning to anyone besides Pam that wants to get with Jim… 😉

  3. GMMR on September 28th, 2006 11:54 am

I don’t think Rashida would be on my short list for interviews. I wouldn’t be able to ask her anything about the show…just about romantic dinners with J. Kras.

  4. samsmom on September 28th, 2006 12:25 pm

I guess I could like her. I now see why JK likes her…really smart, successful, and beautiful. She has probably read Brief Interviews with Hideous Men and understood it.

I read “Battle of the Deadpan Dreamboats”…thanks for the link, and while I like Topher, he has got nothing on John in my opinion…but…could not be happier to find out that JKras will be in the new movie “The Holiday” this fall with Jack Black and Kate Winslett. I went to see “The Devil Wears Prada” during the summer and there was a preview of that movie, and thought, wow…can’t wait!!!! Now I really can’t wait…hope John has a nice, big, juicy part in that! I will be there on opening day! OH…and yeah, I guess Rashida is okay, too.! 🙂

I’m with ya on giving Rashida a shot. (But, for real, Pam and Jim 4eva!) She made me laugh in her first ep, even though some people didn’t like her talking head. I think it’ll be an interesting dynamic for Jim’s storyline.

  7. Clare on September 28th, 2006 1:09 pm

hmmmm ….Team Rashida hunh? How much are they paying you GMMR ?(kidding!) I quite like Rashida Jones (from what I’ve seen of her) and I think she could be a great addition to the show, but I’ve got to be honest, I’ve had an absolute knot in my stomach since the premiere last week. I’ve watched it a number of times, trying to warm to all the changes they’ve made but I have a really bad feeling about Jim and Pam. They are not the reason I started to watch the show nor are they what got me hooked initially but dammit they reeled me in. They built that tension up so slowly over that last two seasons to a litteral fever pitch in the season finale, promos all summer and them BAM, cut us off at the knees in the cold open of the premiere. I think the shock of that scene kinda ruined the rest of the episode for me. It’s not that I expected or even necessarily wanted them together right away, I think the direction of peronal growth is a great idea for both of them, Pam especially, but I have a sick feeling that we’ve been played, I think they’re shutting it down. You can even see a shift in the comments made my the cast members about Jim and Pam. They’ve gone from being behind it last season, to “even if there’s a new love interest for Jim it’s still all about Pam” to “sometimes people who love each other don’t end up together.” And yes, Kristen, I am vewy vewy frightened. And now GMMR wearing Team Rashida jersey!!! It’s blasphemy!! (ha ha) Actually a team Rashida jersey is ok I guess, but I’d better not see any kam shipping! 🙂 I’m counting on you Kath and all the other jam freaks to make me feel a little less nuts, anyone know if there’s a twelve step program for this?

  8. Jessica on September 28th, 2006 1:39 pm

I’m not sure, but if you find one, let me know. I wasn’t really worried about Jam until you pointed out all the reasons I should be. 😉

wasn’t there supposed to be an interview of some sort on CNN today?

  9. Clare on September 28th, 2006 2:45 pm

Oh No! I’m harshin the office mellow! Jessica I’m so sorry, I don’t want to make anybody worry. I’ve been wrong before, believe me 🙂 !! And hey, we’ve only seen one episode, so let’s just watch and enjoy. I laughed at those yahoo clips of tonight’s show and I have been repeating the prescribed number of “trust the writers” each day so I’m confident that even if I’m Jamless, I’ll soon be laughing again every Thursday night.

  10. Jim Mosby on September 28th, 2006 3:51 pm

Hooo boy, tensions are high here today 🙂

I’m okay with the Team Rashida idea myself. I loved love loved her in Boston Public. Don’t know much else that she’s done, but the Jim impersonation was great.

Though I know they are nothing alike anymore, I have to look back to Tim/Dawn and know that the writers are going to give us what we want at some point in time. When is anyone’s guess, and I hope to God it’s long before the series finale (ugh, even thinking the words ‘series finale’ for this show feels blashphemous to say the least) so we can enjoy it…..

Ok, starting with Clare, just how many times have all of you watched last weeks episode over again? Myself, counting the first viewing last thursday night at 8:30, I’m up to ummm, wow…..8 times.

Office Thursdays are my favorite days!

I guess I can give Rashida a chance. I do love everyone on The Office, so hopefully I’ll come to at least like her character as well. I do like Ed Helms so far, though. Though I really don’t want Karen to be Jim’s love interest, I’ll accept it as long as it’s all in the name of JAM eventually happening.

  12. sabrina on September 28th, 2006 5:48 pm

I warmed up to her a while ago.

The only reason why I didn’t like her is b/c she dated Seth Meyers. Yeah, it’s lame reason I know. But I dunno, Krasinski working with his ex-girlfriend… you can’t help but wonder…

  13. Amy on September 28th, 2006 6:22 pm

I just want Jim to be happy… is that so wrong?! And the first sign of the “love interest” Rashida is her bashing Jim’s silly look to the camera? I don’t know… I just don’t want Jim to have to work so hard on the next relationship. He looked so relaxed and comfortable in the Convention clips that I almost (ALMOST) felt that he shouldn’t find out about Pam being single for awhile. Will he think that Pam turned him down not because of Roy but because she just didn’t want to be with him? Forgive me, I’m still fuming about the first episode… is it 8:30 yet??

  14. Sam on September 28th, 2006 6:50 pm

I loved Kate’s TV Guide blog. We only get small doses of Meredith, so it was nice to hear from this funny lady.

  15. Mrs. John Burke Krasinski on September 28th, 2006 6:56 pm

Sam – going to agree with you on that one. I think that of the whole background cast, we get to see the least of Meredith. Kate is hysterical and I wish they would feature her more on the show. She’s great and I love the new blog.

  16. Kris on September 28th, 2006 8:41 pm

I’m going to also be Team Rashida (or Karen) b/c i know that she’s going to be the catalyst for Pam’s progression toward Jim. She HAS to be. I mean, what could make Pam try for Jim more than Jim having a girlfriend, especially since Pam is now single. If it’s anything like Dawn when Tim was dating that girl from the other branch, then Pam should totally increase the affection if you wants to win Jim over. Basically, what i’m trying to say is that Karen will be GOOD for JAM in the end.

And yes, i trust the writers ^_^

  17. Kris on September 28th, 2006 8:42 pm

correction: if she wants to win Jim over
