More from Leona Lewis (The X Factor)

December 3, 2006 by

Leona Lewis, The X Factor

The X Factor’s Leona Lewis continues to blow me away with her voice. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen someone new emerge with a talent like hers. Since we obviously can’t get The X Factor here in the U.S., I thought I would share a few more of Leona’s amazing performances.

For those of you who said in my last Leona Lewis post that she didn’t have much personality, I say this – who cares? Don’t watch the video – just listen to her sing. I’m not saying that I disagree. I think she could use a little polishing, and that will come in time. She reminds me a little of early Mariah. Remember when Mariah tortured us by making us watch her “dance” in those early music videos? Yikes. Leona’s “Lady Marmalade” performance is a little like that, so I suggest you just listen and don’t watch – trust me.

The only downside of Leona’s talent is that I think those of us who watch American Idol are going to be tortured by the constant Leona comparisons from Simon all season long. I predict at least 3 or 4 comparisons during the audition phase alone, and then a few more when we get down to the final female contestants. What do you think? And more importantly, can you believe that American Idol will be back next month? Woo hoo!!

She really is amazing…one question though – why does Simon wear sexy suits on the X-Factor, but we just get his old grubby t-shirts?

What’s cool is that the show obviously has very high production values (I mean, scrolling lights and fog machines? whoa!) but Leona doesn’t really seem to be the kind of singer that’s been conditioned by all these voice coaches and stylists and whoever… It still seems like all she has is raw talent, and she’s just singing, instead of trying to win. Which she totally can. How far away from a finale is The X Factor?

She is pheonominal! Wow! I hope she wins the whole thing because I would love to see an album by her.

You should see the “Could this be the magic” performance on YouTube. Much better up tempo than “lady marmalade” (she was ill that week).

It’s really weird being in the UK, and seeing that she is really making a buzz in the USA, just like Simon said.

Leona does have a fantastic voice, and I think she has a huge career ahead of her, and although she probably *should* win, I’m kinda hoping she doesn’t (partly because I’m supporting one of the other people) and partly because the actual winners of this show notoriously never do well, if she comes second, she’ll get a far better career!! (Will Young is possibly the only exception to this rule, and he was the first!!)

Anyway, yes her performance this week were AMAZING.

and we only have 2 more weeks, the semi final next Saturday and the final the following week.

Every week i watch the show to here this young lady perform, and every week she blows me away.
She will be an absolute superstar. Simon says he cannot believe she does not know how good she is. I cant believe how good she is. I cant wait for her album and she will have the Xmas number 1.

Wait until you hear her reditions of I Have Nothing and Somewhere Over The Rainbow which she sang last night (9/12) in the UK….they are starting to appear on Youtube. Cowell called her Rainbow song “The single best performance I have ever witnessed.”

She’s in the final of X-Factor here next Saturday (no surprise really). Glad you guys (and girls) in the US love her too!!!

Well Leona has won and rightly so. I am not a screaming teenage fan more a mature person .. ahem.. all I would like to add to this is WOW.. this girl can SING. She has a voice that sends chills down my spine. I don’t like to make comparisons with other artists, as this girl has been given these songs to sing in the competition. Hving done a little research and heard some of her OWN work, I can confidently predict this beautiful girl is going places.

She has the voice, she has the looks and her personality is beautiful. Not a screaming Diva, just a humble normal girl. Leona don’t let fame change you.

Simon Cowell deserves a kick up the rear, if he just uses this girl as a money maker for himself. He should let her develop her OWN style, she has the talent. If he starts by doing cover versions on her next CD then I personally would not buy it. This girl has SO much more to offer than cover versions.

Leona is definately a superstar in the making. Personally, it6s nice to see a normal girl win. BUT, my God, What a Voice!!!!

ITS NOT THAT SHE HAS NO PERSONALITY, SHES JUST SHY AND DOESN’T YET KNOW HOW TO EXPRESS HERSELF TO SUCH A WIDE AUDIENCE AND SHE WANTS TO BE LIKED FOR HER VOICE.

ONCE SHE GETS TO BE A REALLY FAMOUS SHE’LL BE A DIVA LIKE ALL THE REST, SO MAYBE SHE IS DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHERS AND ENJOY HER WHILE IT LASTS!

I love leona lewis since first i saw her in audition,I’ve seen that when i was in the philippines.she is so lovely ,i really liked her voice and she is my inspiration,I always listening to the radio to wait for the next songs.whenever i heard her songs i immediately make the sounds more high.
