GMMR Spotlight: MeeVee.com - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

GMMR Spotlight: MeeVee.com

December 11, 2006 by

MeeVee LogoIt just occurred to me, that almost everyday I send my little GMMRers off on an adventure to another TV website – a site whom I have never properly introduced to you. I’m not a very responsible blogger now am I?!

Well there is no better time than the present, so listen up! With all the TV I watch (and it’s a lot), I can’t possibly be expected to remember what night my favorite shows are on, none the less what’s happening in each episode. And this is why MeeVee.com has become by far the website I visit most on a daily basis. In addition to providing Give Me My Remote with “Watchlists” that you all check out daily, my friends over at MeeVee.com* send along some special articles to share with all of you (i.e., TV’s Most Lovable Losers). But there is a lot more to MeeVee.com so I thought I would get you acquainted to the many cool features.

GMMR reader, this is MeeVee. MeeVee, please meet the fab readers of GMMR.

MeeVee.com’s interactive TV listings (MeeVee Guide) is by far the best one available today. Sorry Zap2It and TV Guide, but I’m just being honest. By taking just a minute to register, you can not only view TV listings, but create a customized program guide based on your favorite shows. And MeeVee goes one step further, they will not only tell you when your show is airing, but it will also list all the upcoming reruns (very handy for a life long Creeker like myself), as well as other ways to view your favorite shows (like when it’s available for download on iTunes). You can get a short episode description from any old website, but with MeeVee you can see an exclusive clip of that episode too.

MeeVee Show Information

MeeVee.com interactive program guide allows you not only to search TV listings by time (how very 2005), but you can search by genre and even actor. So if you are really into an actor, let’s say…hmm, John Krasinski, you can make John Krasinski a favorite within MeeVee (indicated appropriately by a heart) and MeeVee will alert you to any upcoming TV appearances. This inlcudes the obvious (The Office), but also talk show appearances, movies, guest stints, etc.

MeeVee WidgetAnother fun feature of MeeVee is their TV widget. The widget allows you to let your friends know what you are watching. The MeeVee widget is already a favorite on MySpace and Facebook among others. I’m trying to get the widget added in GMMR’s daily “Watchlists” but of course there are tech issues on my end. But expect to see this as a daily feature on GMMR very soon! Create your own customizable widget here.

TV with MeeVee*Finally, the folks at MeeVee have started a TV blog of their own, called TV with MeeVee. This is another great way to find out what’s happening around the tube. And don’t be surprised if you see a familiar face over there…yes, since TV with MeeVee provides GMMR with our Wishlists and other great content, we often share a little info with the TV with MeeVee audience too. It’s all about sharing the love!

Ok, ok so I know I’m sounding like a walking ad for MeeVee.com, but I honestly do use this site every single day, and I think it’s only fair that I share this resource with my fellow TV addicts.

…and now you are properly introduced.

Is there a version of this site for Canada, or a similar service that might work for us lowly Canadians?

I love the idea behind this, but I haven’t been able to find anything like it that works for Canada.

    Thanks!
