The O.C. featuring The Office & Veronica Mars

February 3, 2007 by

Last night I was catching up on this week’s episode of The O.C. (sorry Schwartz but I had to TiVo it) when all of a sudden I got that familiar feeling of ‘hey, I know that guy from somewhere’. Actually it happened twice.

First up…an Office/O.C. moment. There was this whole plot line with a psychic telling Summer that her life would be affected by someone named George. Long story short, George wasn’t a guy, but rather an environment agency that wanted to hire Summer after reading her blog (Summer, a blogger?  Love it) . A rep from G.E.O.R.G.E. came to visit summer and he was played by none other than Cousin Mose himself, Mike Schur. Schur, who is best known to fans of The Office as Dwight’s creepy Cousin Mose and more importantly as the writer of classic eps such as “Christmas Party” and “Office Olympics” is married to The O.C. writer, J.J. Phiblin (daughter of Regis and Joy).

Mike Schur on The O.C.

I did a triple take when he came on-screen. I was quite proud of myself for noticing Schur’s brief cameo, but then again I was never in doubt of my Office addiction. Since he wasn’t listed in the credits I couldn’t be 100% sure, so I called up my trusted friend (and OC expert) Sonny from Silly Pipe Dreams, who went ahead and got it confirmed directly from the source.

But Mike Schur wasn’t the only familiar face showing up last night. During the Sandy/Kirsten Berkley flashback scenes, the young Sandy Cohen was played by Max Greenfield, whom Veronica Mars fans know all too well as Veronica’s ex-boyfriend, Deputy Leo D’amto.

Max Greenfield

Small world. Just thought I would share.

Mmm. I adore Leo. And I don’t even watch the OC, but I could see him as a young Sandy.

Mmm. I adore Leo. And I don’t even watch the OC, but I could see him as a young Sandy. I mean, without the visual aids. 😉

I knew they both looked familiar! It’s like guest actors: greatest hits version!

Love myself a little Leo… Was so excited to see him as Sandy… He needs to get to be a regular on a show now… I miss him!

Ha! I noticed Leo, but didn’t recognize Mike without the scary beard. Good catch, GMMR!

Most TiVos were recently updated with a feature that allows you to retrieve programs you recently deleted. Have you checked that? Scroll down to the bottom of your recorded programs listing and select the folder “Recently Deleted.” See if you can recover it.

Good laughs! The O.C/Office information about Mose was VERY helpful and interesting for me! Nice job!
Useless information works out all the time!
