Ok, so I know this has nothing to do with the show, but I cannot start a recap of an episode with this title without a giving a brief shout out to one of my all time favorite silly comedies from the 80’s, “Top Secret”. Oh, how I love that wonderfully absurd little movie, starring a very young Val Kilmer as an Elvis-type rock star getting into trouble with Nazis. But of course, I completely digress.

Or… do I? That movie had some wacky dream sequences, and of course, in this episode of House, our favorite cranky doc was having some pretty wild dreams of his own. Maybe I missed something, but I didn’t feel like they ever really explained why House was having premonitions about people and events before they happened, or why it was causing House to not be able to pee for 3 days straight. By the way, this show always finds a way to do at least one disturbing and gross thing per episode and this one was no exception, what with House having to catheterize himself in order to finally pee. And then with the urine everywhere…. Yuck. Sorry House, I don’t care what you say, but falling into a puddle of urine IS a big deal and really really gross. Blech.

Anyhoo, to be honest, this was not one of the stronger episodes of House in my opinion. The patient of the week was mostly just odd and rather confusing, and frankly I still don’t really understand what exactly his real illness turned out to be – something about a genetic disorder that causes you to have nosebleeds and brain tumors?? Crazy. Also, we barely saw the patient in the episode, and didn’t really even get any back story on him. But that would be because this episode was mostly about House not being able to pee or sleep, and of course… Chase and Cameron.

Ah yes, horny Cameron and her sexual escapades with Chase. Man… that was… odd. I don’t know, maybe the producers felt like they needed to compete with Grey’s Anatomy or something, but it was weird and rather un-“House”-like, in my opinion, to have Cameron suddenly turn into this voraciously sex-driven woman who is constantly seducing Chase at every opportunity. At least she’s not insulting his manhood anymore, and is actually saying nice things to him. Of course, poor Chase still can’t help but be jealous of Cameron’s obvious still-not-over-House feelings, despite her insistence to the contrary. Well, things should certainly be interesting now that House discovered C & C “flagrante delicto” in the closet. And House’s little smile as he walked away certainly proves that he has no feelings for Cameron.

But it is clear, now, that House definitely has feelings for Cuddy. I love that she once again called him on it, and was totally right too: House would only remember some random guy that she made-out with 2 years ago (i.e. the patient of the week who kept appearing in House’s dreams) because he was jealous of the guy and had feelings for Cuddy. But of course, her sassy little “get over me” as she sashayed away wasn’t too convincing, and I’m totally betting that, like it or not, Huddy will be ON by the time the season ends. Personally, I want House to start dating again, because lately he’s become so incredibly crusty and bitter that it would be nice to start humanizing him again. But of course… we don’t want him too human, like the whole not-being-able-to-pee thing. I know this is a medical show, but do we really need to see multiple shot of House in The Stalls and on The John? I’m just saying.

Yeah, it was disgusting, but I really have to complement Jesse Spencer on his ability to slip convincingly. It was good. 🙂

Good analysis, LaLa. The patients of the week usually have much more interesting backstories, and they certainly could have come up with one for this guy. The writers probably have zero knowledge of the military beyond standard cliches. I also agree that the C&C thing is getting over the top. One Grey’s Anatomy is plenty, thank you.
