WHAT?!?!?!? Wha- wha- Is this some sort of April Fools joke, one day late?? Are they serious?!?! I cannot believe that after regaining his presidency and defeating Demon Daniels for good, Wayne STILL went ahead and re-ordered the nuclear strike that he himself called off only an hour ago!!!! Has he lost his mind with the whole, I-only-care-about-reasserting-my-authority-and-gaining-back-my-power speech?!?! Have all those adrenaline shots zapped his brain cells?!?! No… it’s all happening again! Head… spinning… 24 world… repeating itself…flashbacks of power-mad Logan… returning…. Nooooooooooo!

Seriously, though, if I thought that the past few episodes were stretching the credibility of this show… I mean, give me a break. It makes zero sense for Wayne to call off the nuclear attack on the Middle East from his hospital bed, and then once he firmly regained the presidency, reorder said attack because now it was HIS idea and not his VP’s. I mean, that reminds me of a zillion comedic movies where the assistant to the head villain makes a great suggestion, the villain then shoots down said suggestion as stupid and/or bad, and then moments later the villain makes the same suggestion and tries to pass it off as their own brilliant idea. It’s farce. It’s silly. It’s… sigh. I really hope Wayne is only changing his mind because he’s lost it… reaaaally really hoping that, 24.

In other news, very much like a wolf caught in a trap, Gredenko literally chopped off his own arm in order to escape CTU’s clutches. But of course, he didn’t exactly think it through very well, because by the end of the episode he had collapsed dead underneath the Santa Monica Pier. And as the ocean waves crashed violently against his lifeless and now blood-drained body, I kept thinking to myself…. Really, Wayne?? Really??

Of course, before Gredenko died, he still managed to get Fayed caught. Not sure why Gredenko waited until after he had cut off his own arm to rat out Fayed in a public place, when he could have just done it the CTU-wire-tapped way as originally planned. But again, obviously logic and the whole bleeding-to-death thing wasn’t in his brain power to foresee. Which begs the question: how did a man that stupid ever get so far in the evil terrorist world? But I digress. Anyway, Fayed is finally in custody (but of course, the nukes are still out there in the safe hands of his minions), Gredenko is dead, and yep, you guessed it, Wayne has gone bonkers.

One person who has surprisingly regained his power of reason, though, is formerly-weasel-in-Chief Tom Lennox, who seems to have done a complete 180 turn from what he was at the start of the season. That whole fruit bowl secret recording device in Demon Daniels’ office sure was a genius move on Tom’s part. And the fact that he is so completely against the crazy nuclear strike is also a major bonus for his character’s sanity. Weird how the 24 world has gone topsy-turvy from where it was at the beginning of this season. Now Tom and Sandra Palmer are the sane voices of reason, and Wayne has become an irrational fanatic. My head hurts.

Finally, I must mention Agent Doyle’s increasing coolness factor. Yes, he may be gruff and rather unreadable as a person, but the fact that he went ahead and erased the damning evidence about Milo’s major mistake in order to keep the CTU team running at full steam… well, that was very cool. Don’t know why he couldn’t have just told Nadia that he was going to do that, though, instead of making her think that she was going to have to betray Milo in order to keep Doyle from making a scene. Very odd and unnecessary, but I guess Doyle just has major people problems.

Kind of like Chloe, who was strangely absent from this episode – save for one random close-up, of course. Jack was also largely absent from this episode as well…. Hmmm…. maybe they finally took a little break to go to the bathroom – or better yet, actually eat some food. Personally, I’d like to see Jack and Chloe eat food. I bet Jack would gnaw on some meat really intensely, and Chloe would be all pouty and complain about her food not being cooked well enough. Come on people, this is a 24 parody skit just waiting to be made! (and speaking of, did you all see last week’s brilliant episode of “South Park”??? Best. 24 Parody. EVER.)

I don’t know. Doyle’s actions seemed almost too good to be true. I still don’t trust him. And Milo is so dumb: does he really think Nadia wants to have anything to do w/ Doyle after he choked her, etc.? Milo is just…ugh. And i doubt this is the last we’ll see of Demon Daniels…

I’m hoping Wayne will pass out or something from the extreme high blood pressure from all those adrenaline shots. Such an idiot. I bet Katherine and Sandra are re-thinking bringing him out of the coma. Not only is he doing the same attack as Daniels, but they can’t even reason w/ him much like the VP. Of course, if Wayne passes out or needs medical treatment again, that just means Daniels will be back in power again. Ah, what the hell, the two are basically the same person now. Sigh. A big big WTF, 24.

I’m pretty sure Jack doesn’t bite the big one next Monday, but still a little worried. This season has turned out to be very, very interesting =P

um…yeah WTF??!! The White House plotline is utterly ridiculous. I’m more than a little disappointed with just how unbelievable it is. I’m hoping they may be able to salvage a little of it next week. Maybe Palmer is just bluffing with the nuke attack to put some real heat on the Ambassador to nation “X”, to get him to give it up on Fayed. I dunno, there’s gotta be something…

I did enjoy the Gredenko twist. I don’t think cutting off his arm was stupid (hunh…go figure), CTU had him by the balls and he knew it. If he gave Fayed up the wire-tap way, they’d have him too, his only out was to cut that baby off and run like hell. He had to know CTU was gonna give him up either way and he’d rather die than be caught. Loved him outing Fayed in the bar.

I do not trust Doyle. I repeat, I do not trust Doyle. He’s working them all …big time, hopefully it’s just for personal reasons and he’s not eeeeeeevil. Then again what do I know, didn’t I say that about Morris? Speaking of evil, is that it for Logan? Really? He’s way too good to waste like that. Hmmmm so was Jack in a suit…. Jack in a suit 🙂 !!

Sorry I’m late to the discussion, but I think we’re about to find out a seriously good 24 twist next week, in that the Middle East country that is about to get nuked has been supporting Fayed and his group ALL ALONG! No, I don’t think Pres Palmer is crazy. He (and probably Demon Daniels) just knows something that we innocent viewers don’t know yet (or even Tom Lennox, apparently). Just a hunch. But if I’m wrong, then I’ll have to agree with LaLa that this season’s storyline is not working out too well in the credibility department.
