NBC Renews 30 Rock

Last month we conducted an informal poll here at GMMR and asked which freshman show you would most like to see renewed for a second season. From that poll and the comments received it was clear that you all love NBC’s 30 Rock. Lucky for you, NBC has decided to renew the show for the 2007-2008 TV season. YAY!!
Here’s an excerpt from the official NBC press release issued earlier today:

NBC will renew its critically acclaimed comedy “30 Rock” (returning to the network’s lineup on Thursday, April 5, with a special supersized episode at 8:40 p.m. – 9:20 p.m. ET) for the 2007-08 season, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment. The series will settle into its new time period of 9:00 – 9:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 12 for the remaining episodes.

“From the beginning, ’30 Rock’ has proven to be the kind of quality comedy that doesn’t come around very often, and we are very pleased to have this show back for a second season,” said Reilly. “We expect it to continue to build its increasingly loyal audience and become another of NBC’s classic comedy series.”

Kevin Reilly may be a network suit but the man knows how to fight for good TV even when they ratings dictate pulling the show. Reilly was responsible for fighting to keep Scrubs, The Office, Friday Night Lights and 30 Rock on the air. So thanks Kevin Reilly and thanks NBC!!

Sweet, I was worried 30 Rock was destined to go to my growing list of “Shows I like but got zero support from the network and therefore was canceled.”

Yippee!! things are looking up for old Liz Lemon. I can’t stop laughing when I watch the show. I got my bf hooked on this amazing show. i hate that they point out low ratings despite the loyal following. I hope more people watch it and love it like me.

I for one would just like to thank GMMR for working behind the scenes and flexing some muscle with the network brass to get this deal done.

NBC has the best comedies on TV: I only wish the ratings would reflect that.

Has Scrubs been renewed for next year yet?
