Is Alec Baldwin Leaving 30 ROCK?

Is Alec Baldwin Leaving 30 ROCK?

The Drudge Report has just posted that Alec Baldwin has supposedly told Rosie O’Donnell that he’s not only leaving the country but he’s done with television too. Or something like that. From what I can gather Baldwin’s very close friend,  loose lips O’Donnell, shared the news off camera with The View’s audience. Other reports from those in attendance of Baldwin’s pre-taped appearance on The View said that he mentioned wanting out of his 30 Rock contract, but if he can’t be he will fulfill his contractual obligations. Of course this is all hearsay at this point since reports have been inconsistent.

So does this mean the end of Baldwin’s stint on 30 Rock (and let’s face it, the end of 30 Rock) or is Alex just PMSing and being dramatic in light of his recent bad press?

from The Drudge Report:

Alec Baldwin has taped an interview with Rosie O’Donnell for ABC’s VIEW, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
O’Donnell told the studio audience off camera that this will be the actor’s only interview.

“He is leaving the country,” O’Donnell told a stunned audience, says a source. [It was not clear if it was for vacation or an extended period of time.] She said she advised Baldwin against doing the interview.

During the session, to air Friday, Baldwin apologized for his tirade against his daughter. He also explained how he wants out of the TV business: “I have been in the business for over 27 years and I don’t care if I do anything else in TV ever again.”

Baldwin left CREATIVE ARTISTS AGENCY on Monday. No reason for the split was provided.

I know this site has a lot…and I mean a LOT of 30 Rock fans. If the rumors are true, will the show survive without Alec Baldwin? Can Tina Fey hold the show on her own?

Thanks to Sarcasmo for the heads up on this one.

I dont believe the show would survive without him. I like Tina Fey, but the show would lose its appeal without him.

I love love love 30 Rock, but as much as I love it, I know it will tank as soon as he leaves. The way he delivers his lines, is 75% of what is funny on the show.

The AP is now reporting that NBC is holding him to his contract. He’s not going anywhere unless he pulls a Dave Chappelle.

    Huh.
The only way it could possibly survive without him is if they brought in a new boss (but don’t recast the same character) who would have alot of appeal. Don’t know who.
If what Brian says is true, I hope he still is willing to commit to the show and do a good job.

This is from the original TMZ.com story:

“Sources tell TMZ, however, that if NBC does not release him he will fulfill his contractual obligations.”

    So that looks good.

But since NBC already picked up the show for the fall, it might not be immediately fatal if he jumped ship. Still, what a jerk. First he shows himself to be a bad dad. Then he tries to make things right by threatening to quit his job, which oh by the way would effectively cost several dozen other people their jobs.

I always thought Alec Baldwin was an a-hole. And to think Carell lost to him at the Globes, what a rip.

Oh and whatever happened to him moving to Canada if Bush won the election in 2000?
