John Krasinski Takes the Stage with Ben Gibbard

Just before 1 AM this morning I got an email from GMMR reader Jessica. It seems Jessica’s friend Stephanie was enjoying the concert of Death Cab’s front man Ben Gibbard at the 9:30 Club in D.C. when none other than Jim Halpert himself, yes John Krasinski took to the stage. According to Stephanie, Ben and John were joking around and having fun. John, armed with a guitar, professed his loved for the band Wilco and sang a little tune.

John has been a long time fan of Death Cab and even co-hosted their Directions DVD launch party last year. Ben Gibbard is making his acting debut in the much anticipated “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men” which coincidentally was written and directed by Krasinski.

A special thanks to Jessica and Stephanie for sharing this pic of John and his guitar on stage exclusively with GiveMeMyRemote.com and to Morgan for her short movie moment of JKras.

I knew is someone was going to get a photo up it was going to be you GMMR. Nice work. I like the backwards hat look.

My God, can the boy just punch someone in the face for once? A guitar!? Seriously!? ::melts::

  3. gmmr on May 11th, 2007 6:54 pm

Yeah it’s time for him to “kick some puppies”.

I know this isn’t going to make sense to both, but in case Deb K. stops by and read these comments I wanted to say that at first glance all I could think was “Bronson Arroyo”

  4. DarthMom on May 11th, 2007 7:05 pm

It makes sense to me! He does look like Bronson Arroyo (with the backwards cap and guitar) but John is waaaay better looking. Bronson is kind of a big deal here in Cincinnati (except the Reds are stinking it up, per usual).

Ok, seriously? I went on errands today and I swear I was looking for tall, lanky brunette guys every which way. I’m surprised I didn’t drive into anything. LOL.
    Geez… I really can’t catch a break, can I? >_

  6. GMMR on May 11th, 2007 7:28 pm

DarthMom – Oh yes, Jkras is MUCH better looking than Bronson. Just with the cap and the guitar, he just reminded me of BroYo!! I secretly miss him around Boston, but don’t tell anyone I said so.

Ok, I was already crying in my Fruit Loops this morning because I couldn’t go to this show but now….so not fair.

Ok, is it just me or does John Krasinski get more adorable by the day? Its like, just when you expect him to be maxed out with adorableness, he goes and does something like this! What the hell?

  10. Thistle on May 11th, 2007 8:09 pm

Oh my gawd! John with a geetar and professing his love for the legend that is Wilco? He really is the perfect man. Anyone know what tune he sang? Argh, am so jealous! Still, lucky for me I’m going to see Wilco in London on Sunday so it could be worse…

I love how all my favourite things love each other!

  11. Jess on May 11th, 2007 8:13 pm

He’s really talented and it’s starting to become ridiculous. 🙂 Could he be anymore perfect…

So I clicked on the link from the Directions anthology and in one of the pictures, Rashida Jones is hanging out next to Krasinski, no?

  12. GMMR on May 11th, 2007 9:23 pm

    Yup, that is Rashida.

  14. Jessica on May 11th, 2007 10:22 pm

Ok, I love boys with guitars, but John Krasinski with a guitar?? Well, that just blows my mind. I think I would have exploded had I been at that concert.

  15. Annie on May 11th, 2007 10:53 pm

Ahh I wish I had been there! Two of my favorite people…John Krasinski and Ben Gibbard. Death Cab is AMAZING live, by the way. Oh, and John playing a guitar, fantastic.

kath, did you see the post on the tree thread before the twop boards got taken down for the night? someone who was there posted a report.

  17. Charlotte on May 12th, 2007 12:00 am

Alex, what did it say? I didn’t get home in time to see the post before twop shut down.

“Death Cab is AMAZING live, by the way.”

I was actually a big fan until I saw them live. They don’t really throw in anything different in their live show than what is on the albums. I’m not a DMB fan, but I went to a couple of shows with friends and I was impressed with their ability to play to the crowd. I was kinda disappointed that DCFC doesn’t do it, so I watched their awful bouncing around on stage, the bassist’s funny hair, and listened to their inane stage banter.

That said, I still listen to them regularly. But this is either here nor there.

Wow, I go to school in NY and always miss Mr. Krasinski’s appearances, but he was in my hometown at my favorite venue? Not to mention the singing and guitar and that Mr. Gabbard is one of my favorite singers? And I missed it because I had to stay on campus for a final about the ethics that got rescheduled? Wow….I have no luck

  29. Morgan on May 30th, 2007 3:53 pm

I was at the late show when John showed up and got a video of it. It’s on my YouTube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=bqoUOND5lrI.
