VERONICA MARS Creator is MISS/GUIDED

VERONICA MARS Creator is MISS/GUIDED, Rob ThomasGood news for fans of the dearly departed VERONICA MARS. VM creator Rob Thomas has a new gig that will bring him back to the TV world very soon. Rob has confirmed to E! Kristin Veitch that he is taking over as Executive Producer and showrunner for the upcoming ABC show MISS/GUIDED starring the fabulous Judy Greer.

“I’m the new show runner on Miss/Guided, the Judy Greer half-hour midseason for ABC,” Rob tells Veitch. “Judy plays a high school counselor who has returned to the high school she attended as a student. It was created by a talented first-year Office writer named Caroline Williams.”

I think that Judy Greer is priceless and I was planning on watching the show just for her, but knowing that Rob Thomas is brining his signature wit to the show makes it a must see show of the new season.

It might mean a slightly better show for me to watch, but I don’t know if the fact that Rob Thomas has a new job counts as good news for anyone but Rob Thomas.

I love Judy Greer, I think she might be a good fit for Rob. And if I can’t have him through VM, I’ll take him here. I’m not usually a fan of the typical half-hour comedy but this preview I saw of Miss/Guided looked promising…I’ll be watching.

A few months ago my mom was asked to watch a test pilot of this and answer some questions on it. She’s a teacher and they said they wanted a teacher’s view of it (but she teaches 3rd graders so…a little different) I watched it with her and it was okay. It was pretty silly and they did ‘talking heads’ like on the office, but they aren’t documentary style so they weren’t really plausible (or all that insightful/necessary), they probably should’ve gone with voice overs like Scrubs instead. But like I said, this was quite a few months ago and they probably ironed out a lot of the problems. It had potential and I adore Judy Greer (she wasn’t the problem) but the whole episode didn’t come together great. But I’m still definately going to watch it because it had some great moments and will hopefully find its voice and do to high school what Scrubs did to hospitals or The Office did to…well offices. I’m sure with Rob Thomas’ amazingness and Judy Greer’s hilarity it’ll be amazing by the time it actually airs.
PS there’s a preview on ABC that is all clips I’ve never seen and are ALOT funnier than the pilot I saw so that’s good news.
