PRIVATE PRACTICE Recasting News….NO!!

Now this one is really bumming me out. Ausiello has just learned that Merrin Dungey, who played Addison’s best friend in the pilot episode of PRIVATE PRACTICE, is being replaced with Broadway actress Audra McDonald. WHAT?! Nooo…I was so excited to have Merrin Dungey back on TV. We haven’t seen much of her since ALIAS ended, and I think she’s great. I happen to be a huge fan of Audra McDonald, but I can’t see how she is right for this role. I just don’t see it.

great choice. i didn’t really care for merrin in the sneak peak show, and i LOVE audra mcdonald. i’m a native new yorker and i know my broadway- and she was amazing in 110 in the shade. She’s excellent, i’m sure everyone else will love her to!
that is total crap. I definitely won’t be watching now.
I’m glad she got replaced I know her from King of Queens and I didn’t really see the chemistry between her and Kate Walsh.
AMAZING! I LOVE AUDRA MCDONALD ….Audra and Taye will have to sing a duet together how amazing would that be

Merrin Dungey is & was great in Alias, blah blah blah, but I personally agree w/ this move. YES she’s a great actress but I don’t think she and Kate Walsh had ANY chemistry, certainly not in a believable way of them being ollldddd best friends from medical school. Dunno if Kdubb and Audra will be any better together, but I’m willing to give her a shot cuz I LOVE HER and think she’s a FANTASTIC actress.
I’m with you guys. Dungey didn’t really work for me on the show. I really hope it improves from the pilot!

Merrin Dungey was a regular guest on King of Queens.
Yeah, I wasn’t feelin’ Dungey at all during the spin-off quasi-pilot. She had little chemistry with Addison, and I really think that she and Taye Diggs had even less.
Now, I don’t know that Audra McDonald is any better mind you. Some people should stick to Broadway. All I’m sayin’

This sucks. I was really excited about seeing Private Practice. I’m sitting here watching “Come Rain or Shine: From Grey’s Anatomy to Private Practice” now. Honestly, I don’t even care to watch it now. Merrin Dungey was one of my favorite characters on Alias as Francie/Allison.
I will not be watching.. I was willing to give the show a chance with Merrin Dungey, hoping the show would click.. after a few shows.. The show tonight with Audra McDonald, is just as bad .. no chemistry between any of the the cast. Addison should pack her bags and go back to grey… Merrin Dungey will be glad she was let go..once they cancel this.. lousy show..
